Musings of the Day
I recently had a reader e-mail and ask me a really great question (Thanks Crotchfairy!). She wanted to know what I thought of Beauty Boxes.
You know like Birchbox, Blissmo, Glossybox, etc…
I used to be a very big fan of the Little Black Beauty Box which I’m not even sure is around anymore. It was $19.95 and available, I THINK, every three months. Don’t quote me on the price or when they released it, etc…as I can’t really remember much of the details. Seemed like ages ago.
Moral of the story is…I LOVED that box. It basically introduced you to a slew of different E-tailers. Being a HUGE E-tailer and Etsy h0r I liked getting a little box introducing me to new E-tailers I never tried before. My subscription almost always introduced me to at least three or four new shops. Each box included samples and full size items including Tarts, candles, little makeup products like lip balm, and body creams, mists, etc…I think Little Black Beauty Box is really the original beauty box and kinda what started it all. Because outside of that box I don’t recall anyone else doing something similiar. UNTIL…just recently when suddenly everyone has some sort of beauty box in the works.
Pricing varies but boxes range from $10-$30 and contain both samples and and full size makeup products.
So what exactly do I think of beauty boxes?
Yes, I said Spring 2013. Gasp! Makeup brands are already introducing Spring 2013 Collections both on counter and in drugstores. This year, Urban Decay released the Naked Basics Palettes for Spring 2013 before anyone else got the chance to say boo!
I suspect you’ll hear the word about Too Faced Spring 2013 might soon as well! Last year, they introduced it on December 20th or so. And already news of Maybelline’s Spring 2013 Collection has hit the Twitter airwaves (reviews on it coming soon!).
It might seem too early but fact is brands are introducing their Spring Collections earlier and earlier each year. Heck, I used to think January was too early for news of Spring Makeup Collections but now we hear it before Christmas even arrives.
So which collections are you most excited about?
New Spring offerings from the drugstore?
Some high end Spring goodies from fav brands like Dior or perhaps Guerlain?
Something from MAC? More news from Urban Decay Spring 2013? or Too Faced?
As for me..I guess I’m excited about it all! I’m particularly hyped to see how the drugstores evolve more and more as the years past. There offerings continue to grow and get better with each new seasonal release!
What’s your take?
P.S. I hope you all had a wonderful Monday. It’s going on 3:30 pm here and I’m about ready to call it. I’m tired! It’s been a very long day with tons of stuff going on at once. Phew! It’s a shame that all I want to do is go home, grab a bite, and watch some TV before heading to bed early because the weather is perfect today, very sunny and warm with a little cool breeze!
The NYX Leopard Cosmetic Train Case will help you conquer the wilds of your makeup collection. This massive rolling train case provides compartments for all your makeup, tools, and general beauty goodies. Heck, you have room to stash your apocalypse gear into this massive $250 creation!
Do you own enough makeup to fit inside?
With all the excitement surrounding the launch of MAC Holiday 2012 I wonder, did you notice MAC didn’t do any LE packaging for Glamour Daze?
Unless you count that the compacts are a glossy black versus the traditional matte finish black that MAC prefers.
Does it bother you?
Do you like the LE packaging or are just worried about the contents and not so much what it comes housed in?
I actually don’t mind these glossy compacts. They are nice and simple and I’m not worried about using them. With LE packaging I sometimes get all anal about using the product and wanting to protect it with my life. At least if it’s basic black I don’t feel as protective.
How about you?
Cleansing Waters were trending quite a bit this Summer and a bit into Fall however, the hype has died down now. I’m always fascinated by readers, friends, etc…who tell me they remove their makeup at night with a cleansing wipe.
Like my sister, bless her little soul, swears by cleansing wipes. Girl does not wash her face in the evening merely uses a cleansing wipe to remove her mascara/eye makeup. Granted, she uses a heck of a lot less makeup than me but still….
Suddenly I feel like my nightly regime is overkill! Cleansing oil, cleansing wash, toner, mist…am I over doing it?
Do I need to rely on a Cleansing Water and simply just that?
