Here’s one for the Lestat fans (there have to be one or two of you out there in cosmetic land).
It appears Anne Rice is returning to her roots and giving Lestat some much needed air to breath, he’s been buried up in his tomb for far too long and many of his fans miss him (the Muse does!). Anne Rice spoke to Time Magazine recently and promises one more book for Lestat.
It interests me she’ll be breathing life back into Lestat but I fear for Lestat’s return as from the article’s tone it appears Lestat will be released back into the head storm of Anne Rice’s religious hurricane (I’m an atheist, no I’m not, yes I am, no I’m not!)!
If you’ve been buried under a rock for 12 years or you’re just not a big reader you probably haven’t noticed the lack of blood dripping from Anne Rice novels as of late. That’s simply because Anne Rice is no longer an atheist and “re-found” the catholic church. In short terms, this meant she’d buried the Vampire Chronicles and ‘the evil” it created for her and she’d take on the new adventure of writing about Christ’s life. I can’t make this stuff up it’s all completely true. A lady that was writing about Sleeping Beauty in Bondage a few years ago is now a hardcore Christian…I dunno..whatever floats your boat I guess…stranger things have happened right?
I haven’t been a fan of Anne in a while in all honesty. Her work began a downward spiral a very long time ago and Lestat had long since lost his ability to speak to me since…god…who knows a very long time ago.
I’ve done my duty, as a good fan, and read through everything she’s put out (with much difficulty) over the course of the last several years. Reading Memnoch was at times comparable to root canal surgery with a rusty drill!
I guess we do that from time to time with someone we love reading (King is a good example). We fall under the illusion that the next book out will surely recapture the intense feeling we experienced when we originally read the author’s first book. But it’s never really the case is it?
Lestat’s return won’t happen for a few more years yet I imagine (even the article states as much) but I’ll keep some sort of hope (not a high hope…) alive that he might make a colorful reappearance in her next novel! Who knows maybe Lestat will learn to communicate on the same level with Anne that he used to before Anne went off on her trip to Never Never Land without him.
The Muse looks forwards to the gentleman vampire’s return (even though my gut tells me it’s going to be a very weird trip)!
Cheers Lestat de Lioncourt! High hopes for one last big bang before you disappear off the literary circuit for good.
By the way if you’re really missing the goth you can always appease your hunger by reading Christopher Rice’s dribble…that’s not quite root canal surgery…it’s more alone the lines of brain surgery while you’re fully awake!
A little bird whispered into my ear about possible updates to the Neil Gaiman Selections on Bpal.
If you’re a collector of Bpal or just a general fan of Gaiman this may be exciting to you!
If you’re unsure what Bpal is have a click over here for some info! If you have no idea who Neil Gaiman is you suffer the dire consequences of possibly being kicked off my blog permanently, ok maybe we’ll forgive you but just this once! k? k.
The Muse worships at the shrine of Gaiman so anything Gaiman related is always great!
The little bird told me about a scent being released entitled Snow, Glass, Apples. Oh Joy! My heart literally stopped when I heard this! Can you imagine such a blend as this? I’m picturing something cool and refreshing with bits of fruit and and a beautiful underlay of ozone! Snow, Glass, Apples was written over 10 years ago and is a twist on the age old story of Snow White. I actually have a copy of it that was purchased from BDP at the time. I believe, don’t quote me, you can find a few copies laying around on Amazon that collector’s are selling if this is something that interests you. In all honesty if you’re not a Gaiman fan you’re sincerely not going to want to shell out the money for a copy so maybe stick to his newer works that are readily available and about.
The good news though is now you can purchase a perfume oil that captures the story! I’m very eager to hear if this is true. According to my little bird it appears that the scent was available at Bpal Will Call. Whether it was allowed to be purchased I’m unsure of as the details are foggy but it does seem that the Gaiman selection on Bpal at the moment, which consists of 7 blends, will be updated soonish!
I have high hopes for this new blend because really the ones available at the moment aren’t entirely Muse approved.
In other Gaiman related news…The Graveyard Book is completed! Squeal! Around 12:55pm (UK Time) yesterday Neil updated his blog to say a few nights ago he completed the book and is now busy tweaking it (CLICK!). Needless to say I’m excited!
A new perfume oil, A new book, a new film (Coraline is being released in 2009)…..A great start to Monday morning me thinks!
Minor depression as my boyfriend lives in the UK but we did spend a rather awesome evening talking, being goofy, etc…!
I kinda sorta think V-Day is somewhat a bit too commercial for my likes. I don’t think I need a particular day of the year to tell someone I love them! Heck I do that everyday anyway
But I did want to take a sec to say Happy Valentine’s Day to each of you and your loved ones! It’s not all about lovers! My parents get me a V-Day pressie every year and I give them one! Same for my sis! And some special friends too!
So even if you’re single you can make it about someone else that holds a near and dear place in your heart.
Single, Married, or In a Relationship the Muse wishes you only the happiest feelings in the world on Valentine’s Day!
If I could I’d give each and every one of you a big squishy hug and some hershey kisses too (because fat content is important on Valentine’s Day!)!
I hope your day is special whatever you do!
And hey what better way to celebrate Valentine’s Day then with great pick up lines from the Captain right?
You’ve been officially Shatnerized with this post! And yes the Muse believes even back then it was a hair piece! For shame William, for shame!
Dear oh Dear Spock you cheeky little monkey! Naughty! Naughty!
The Muse is in geeky heaven watching the preview for the new Indiana Jones movie! I nearly wet my pants, nearly, very nearly.
Although if possible there may be just a bit too much CGI for me. I know, I know but we’re talking old school Indy here…a little less CGI would give it that vintage feel!
By the very way Mr Spielberg maybe just maybe we could have done without Shai Lebeouf. Bloody hell I had to deal with him in Transformers and that was like root canal surgery now Indiana Jones?
You’re ruining my geeky childhood here (and geeky adulthood)….! Sinseriously…I did not need Shai Lebeouf mucking up my Transformer experience!
Aside from those minor rants…this has the potential to be awesome. Cross your fingers we don’t have a lemon on our hands here a la Lucas’s money grubbying Episode 1, Episode 2, etc…….that had dollar signs written all over it!
