Bobbi Brown Lip Quad

Bobbi+Brown+Lip+Quad

The Muse is always up for new Bobbi so when she seen the new Bobbi Brown Lip Quads I could feel myself get giddy!

But….

Ok, so these are super cool right? And not too badly priced! $20 bucks snags you four shades! But I was thinking to myself how strange it is that these can be popped out of their compacts and placed in one of the Bobbi customizable palettes.

Wait….

Huh?

They must be really, really tiny if they can fit inside one of those palettes?! How big are the lippies? Dime size?

Hmff!

Seeing is believing! Guess I have to haul to see it for myself!

What do you think?

Tiny?

Smashbox ‘High Definition’ Concealer

Smashbox+%27High+Definition%27+Concealer

What? New concealer from Smashbox? Ok, I’ll bite!

Smashbox introduces High Definition Concealer meant for concealing dark circles with a weightless formula and a natural finish! It even supposedly helps with under eye puffiness, this could be good! It has a soft touch precious applicator for smooth application around the delicate eye area! Sweet! Likey lots!

I can deal with more of the high def hype so I think I’ll take Smashbox ‘High Definition’ Concealer for a test drive soon!

Want it?

Nay?

Musings of the Day: Set It and Forget It?

xxxx

I’m curious how everyone will answer this Musing today! Do you set your foundation with powder? I know many if you that have oily skin will answer a solid yes but what about those of you with dry skin?

Find out my answer below!

I have dry skin a majority of the time and sometimes a little oily come Summer. For a rather long time I always applied my liquid or cream foundation and didn’t bother setting with powder aside from a teeny tiny amount down the sides of my nose. Just the last few months I started setting with powder and love the results. I still hate the fact that powder makes my dry skin all flaky in certain places but I love the fresher, cleaner look of my makeup thanks to the powder and the fact that it makes my foundation last a bit longer.

What about you?

Do you set with powder?

I’m especially curious about to hear about those with dry skin!

In the Muse’s Purse: Clean Fun Perfume Oil

in+the+muse%27s+purse

Inside my purse is a Clean Fun Roll On Perfume Oil that I never leave home without!

Clean+Fun+Perfume+Oil+1

Find out why….

The Muse happens to be the biggest fan Clean Perfume probably ever had but she’s so mad at them for never bringing Clean Fun out in EDP format. Oh my god it’s the awesome. I can’t believe they never thought to make it into a perfume but just left it as an oil!

How they managed to bottle up the fresh scent of a shower with super fun, flirty blast of citrus is beyond me but that’s exactly what it reminds me of. A cross between “clean”, “fruity”, and “sweet”. It’s heaven. Notes of Green Tangerine, Grapefruit, Orange and Limes create a wonderful wake me up fragrance that lives up to it’s name, “Fun!”

I tote Clean Fun around with me everywhere and use it as a quick touch up when my perfume has long since worn away. It’s the perfect perfume oil for nights I am leaving from work and heading out with friends for dinner, a movie, or just to hang out. It wakes up me, keeps people asking me, “what are you wearing?”, and puts me in good spirits!

Yay or Nay: Benefit Coralista

yayornay

Benefit Coralista has been out quite a while now so I’m sure many of you have either picked it up or had a swatch and a play at your local Sephora or counter. The question today is was Benefit Coralista a Yay or a Nay for you?

Benefit+Coralista+5

Jump ahead to see if the Muse was Yayin’ or Nayin’ it (as if you don’t already know my answer)!

The sweet smell of tropical peach, a pigmented blushing powder that’s a cross between peach and coral, and great packaging? Obviously it’s a Yay for this Muse!

I absolutely adore this stuff and think it’s probably one of the best Benefit Powders released to date, believe me I know as I’ve tried ‘em all!

Etsy Musings

etsy

The Muse happens to be a BIG Etsy junkie. It’s a huge addiction, like really, really big. The Muse’s mum is fond of the phrase “from soup to nuts”, in this case that would be a real fitting way of understanding my purchases on Etsy. I literally buy from soup to nuts on the site. Makeup, clothes, jewelry, perfume….you name it I’ve purchased it somehow or someway on Etsy. I’ve been shopping on Etsy since around 2006 or so. In the past three year’s Etsy has grown up to be such a big and wonderful place to score such amazing finds.

I wrote about Etsy once before on Musings, quite a long time ago when I first began my blog. At the time I had plans to bring a category to my site which would be an “Etsy finds” daily post sort of thing. Someway, somehow that wonderful idea got tossed to the back burner and never really got taken out of the closet until now.

Lately, I’ve been tossing around ideas on how to make my blog more interesting. I feel like I do the same thing day after day and I just want something to spice up my little home on the Internet. What came into play was the rebirth of my “Etsy Musings” idea from days of old.

Mostly I embraced my idea for this new category simply because we are all looking for an escape from the expensive and really would love some unique, inexpensive beauty finds. Secondly, I really wanted to give a little recognition to my favorite sellers on Etsy. Many of these people aren’t in it for a simple buck, this is their art, an expression of their personality. I felt like many of these artists (I refrain from using the word sellers) needed a voice, someone to shout out to the world about how wonderful they are and again the rebirth of Etsy Musings took place.

So for the sake of unique, inexpensive beauty finds made by wonderful artists….I bring to you Etsy Musings which will be a weekly or a monthly or an every other day post about a great Etsy find and the artist behind it.

I hope you’ll enjoy this interesting category. I hope it’ll lead you towards an interesting, unique, and inexpensive beauty find. I hope it’ll help you to embrace your inner artist. I hope it’ll simply put a smile on your face after finding a neat little treat that doesn’t cost you $25 bucks but simply a dollar or two.

I’ll begin Etsy Musings starting this week with a review and an interview from a kawaii jewelry maker that lives in the Philippines and literally brings a “sweet” touch to jewelry!

Stay tuned for the details but for now what are your thoughts on Etsy?

Lover?

What do you buy on Etsy?

Beauty Battle: NARS Super Orgasm VS Benefit Coralista

beauty+battle

Pitting NARS Super Orgasm against Benefit Coralista could cause for an interesting fight dontcha think?

Some fans of both are fond of saying how similar the two are but the question is if NARS Super Orgasm went up against Benefit Coralista who would win?

Jump ahead to find out!

Benefit+Coralista+NARS+Super+Orgasm+1

Let the Beauty Battle begin!!!!!!!
super

Now NARS Super Orgasm is considerably more pricey when compared to it’s contender. Coralista is 0.42oz and has a $28 USD price tag. That’s nearly double the product for $3 USD more. Uh oh NARS, Benefit could be beating you out when it comes to price and size.

I hear tales of woe when it comes to Super Orgasm how glittery and shimmery it is, what a mess it is, etc…but the Muse thinks these are all blasphemy! Super Orgasm is much more pigmented when compared to it’s sister color, Orgasm. And yes it does have a whole lot of shimmer going on and chunks of gold glitter however it blends out to a nice satin finish minus any crazy shimmer. The shade is a glowing peach that’s simply stunning to say the very least! Uh oh Coalista look out Super Orgasm is creeping up on you here!

Benefit+Coralista+NARS+Super+Orgasm+4

nars+super+orgasm

Now Coralista is undoubtedly the better deal of the two products. Nearly double the size of Super Orgasm with a price tag of merely $3 USD more makes it a considerably better option when it comes the quantity but what about quality?

Smelling like a sweet tropical peach sporting some seriously cute packaging and having amazing color pay off all make Benefit Coralista an incredible blush! The Muse is fond of telling everyone and anyone that will listen that it’s one of Benefit’s crowning jewels! Truly a great powder.

Benefit+Coralista+NARS+Super+Orgasm+2

And the fight begins…..

NARS Super Orgasm starts off with a pop of peach, a hefty price tag, but little weight to back itself up! Benefit Coralista throws the first punch with a crazy peachy finish, a price tag to please, and enough weight to sink a heavy punch into Super Orgasm’s face!

Benefit+Coralista+NARS+Super+Orgasm+3

And the winner is….

Oh please jebus don’t make me choose between two of my very favorite blushes! Ugh it’s so hard!

It’s difficult to choose between these two incredible products! Both are simply amazing to say the least but if I’m honest with myself Benefit Coralista has the better color pay off, the most bang for my buck, plus who can resist a blush scented like a tropical peach? Actually in the end the peach scent threw the fight and made Benefit Coralista our winner!

winner

So tell me….

Who’s your winner?

Is NARS Super Orgasm the best girl for the job?

Or do you favor Benefit Coralista?

Still not convinced Coralista is a winner? Check out both my reviews of NARS Super Orgasm and Benefit Coralista to make your final choice!

Kenzoki Cleansing Jelly Review

I told you about Kenzoki Cleansing Ice Jelly a few days ago but I was slightly confused as I thought it was already available for purchase but actually it’s out in April. So this is a sneaky peek review of Kenzoki Cleansing Ice Jelly due out at www.kenzousa.com in April.

Kenzoki+Cleansing+Ice+Jelly+3

Hard to shake a Muse off her Lush skincare regime but she can be tempted by fine quality items like Kenzoki Cleansing Ice Jelly. Jump ahead to find out why it’s so great!

The entire concept, formula, and idea behind Kenzoki Cleansing Jelly absolutely tickles this Muse. A self-cooling cleansing jelly that has a water-like formula which removes waterproof makeup. What’s not to like? I’m not sure what I dig the most, the fact that it’s cooling or the fact that it emulsifies upon contact with my skin.

Kenzoki+Cleansing+Ice+Jelly+2

I sat the cleanser in my fridge for the better part of an hour as I wanted to experience how cooling it could be. After the hour was up and I proceeded to pour a drop in my hand and begin to rub it on my face, you can use a cotton pad if you like. The formula begins as a creamy jelly but quickly, upon contact with your skin, becomes a water-like substance that whisks away dirt and makeup in a jiffy. It’s almost like having a toner, a moisturizer, and a cleanser thrown together into one single product. It has a fresh scent which to my nose is almost reminiscent of a lighter version of Kenzo Belle de Jour moisturizer. The cleanser contains ginseng extract which helps to tone and stimulate the skin. Ginseng is also an effective anti-aging supplement.

Kenzoki+Cleansing+Ice+Jelly+4

Kenzoki+Cleansing+Ice+Jelly+5

Kenzoki+Cleansing+Ice+Jelly+6

It did a fine job of removing all my makeup in one sweep and after use my face felt nice and smooth. My skin can be picky when it comes to cleanser and after use sometimes I get a tight, itchy feel but with this I only experienced nice, dewy results.

I was a little confused how to use so I’ll briefly explained. Normally I remove all my eye makeup prior to washing my face so I began by doing that. After I assumed I had to wet my face to use this, not the case. Remove your eye makeup as normal and follow up by squirting a quarter size amount of Kenzoki Cleansing Jelly into the palm of your hand. Rub the jelly all over your face, it’ll begin to emulsify instantly and feel cooling and water-like. After you’ve smoothed it on rinse with cold water and follow up with some your facial moisturizer, the Muse highly suggests Belle de Jour. You’re using it on dry skin or if you like damp skin but not soaking wet. I do suggest using it on your dry skin though as you’ll get the best results.

You can see the process below. The cleanser starts out a cream and quickly becomes a cool watery liquid.

The entire experience is quite a pleasure as it feels so cooling on my tired face. I’m looking forward to Summer just so I can use this during those hot days when my makeup feels stuck on my face.

Last month I was on my Korres trip but I must say that Kenzo has completely taken over my heart at the moment and I’m thrilled with the interesting skincare collection they offer. I’m ashamed to say I always thought of Kenzo as more of a perfume type company, how wrong was I? If anyone can convince me to forgo my beloved Lush it would be either Kenzo or Korres.

Amazing stuff!

Loves it!

E.L.F Candy Shop Lip Tins

elf

I’m not particularly excited about E.L.F Candy Shop Lip Tins, I just wanted an excuse to play this song.

Ok, maybe I am kinda sorta digging the fact that E.L.F has these cute little lip tins filled with candy flavored lip balm but I won’t approve of the $2 USD price tag! What the hell happened to dollar makeup? It’s not fair to charge inflated prices E.L.F! For shame!

Available in Coconut, Frosting, Mocha, Melon, Candy, Berry, and Cherry there’s a little something sweet for everyone.

elf+2

Take a trip to E.L.F’s Candy Shop and snag a deal by purchasing one Candy Shop Tin and getting one at 50% off using promo code EGSPRAP. At least that’ll get you one for a dollar so you’ll feel better about the price.

Sweetness awaits you (or cheapness depending on how you look at it)!

Musings of the Day: Fav Drugstore Mascara (US Drugstore)

Musngs

Since discovering my favorite drugstore mascara I’ve wanted to shout the good word of it to all the masses…..well I already have kinda but I’ll tell you about it again after the jump!

Ok, I’m speaking of US Drugstore brands here as there are way too many awesome Japanese drugstore mascaras that rock my little world. If you choose it does have to be a US brand…those be the rules kiddies!

My choice would have to be L’oreal Double Extend Mascara, whoa I really like this stuff, sincerely. I can’t help myself but this stuff is pretty damn good. I’ve been using it daily for about a month now and simply lurve it. That’s saying something as I normally fart in the general direction of any and all drugstore mascara finds in the US, sorry if you’re a lover, I happen to be a leaver. But Double Extend changed my very life and made me a believer that great mascaras may still dwell within a US drugstore….

Brb I think I just heard an angel sing!

Name your fav mascara.

Remember US brands only, no cheating and playing with the big guns, we all know Japanese drugstore mascara rocks it so you must choose a US brand…if you can that is….

It’ll be hard but I have confidence that you can do it!

Shameless self promotion: Find my review of L’oreal Double Extend Mascara by clicking here.
