Time and time again it’s proven that Asian brands are far superior at creating unique, inexpensive cosmetics that are high quality and positively brilliant in all aspects.

Taiwanese brand Kevin Beautymaker is an extremely inexpensive cosmetic brand that’s rich in some seriously great products one of which is the Kevin Beautymaker Aqua Eye Concealer.

Kevin Beautymaker Aqua Eye Concealer is specifically designed for use around the eyes as it contains light brightening particles to conceal dark circles and uneven skin tone and I promise it does just that. When I originally got this concealer I was terribly disappointed as it was very dark for a shade 1. It’s only available in three shades so I went with the lightest and it appeared way to beige in the container. But blended in it’s a near perfect color match and manages to conceal dark circles while creating a beautiful airbrush finish. It’s highly moisturizing and blends a treat so it won’t creep into fine lines, cake or crease and wears incredibly long for such a moist concealer. Honestly, it would make a fine dupe for another Taiwanese concealer I love which is Shills Eletric Eye Concealer. The formulas are nearly identical. Strangely enough you’d think that such a moisturizing concealer wouldn’t wear so well and or wear long. For the most part Aqua Eye Concealer is quite like Bobbi Brown Concealer in many aspects but it’s a little denser which makes it beautiful to work with and blend. As mentioned I thought that this would quickly wear a way as the formula is very moist but it actually stands the test of humidity and warm weather and will stay on pretty much all day without touch ups in between.

The concealer can be used on it’s own but for added brightening and concealing you can prep prior with Kevin Beautymaker Color Correcting Eyelid Primer. This can be used to conceal dark circles or used as a prep above the eye a la Benefit Lemon Aid.

I got this concealer off of Payeasy but it’s on E-bay and also Imomoko for around $13.99 or so. Although that’s almost over a 50% mark up I still think it’s a very good deal as the concealer simply works incredibly!

If you like your concealers highly moisturizing and pigmented enough to create a good flawless finish under your eyes, Kevin Beautymaker Aqua Eye Concealer is a fabulous choice. Try it, the Muse knows you’ll love it! It’s so good it qualifies for HG material.

Musings of the Day: When Swapage Goes Terribly Wrong!

I love swapping makeup. I haven’t done so in a long time but I adore hanging out on Cozycot, Specktra, MUA, etc…to discuss makeup, do cps, or just enjoy a swap or two. Which brings me to today’s Musings.

musings

Have you ever had a swap that went wrong? Maybe you’ve been swap-lifted? Gasp! Or got the item and it was in totally gross condition?

Tell me your swap story and jump ahead for my tales of swapage that have gone terribly wrong!

Honestly, I’ve only ever been blessed with the best swap partners. Particularly my good friend Iris comes to mind when I think of hardcore CP’ing. I swear Iris must curse the day she met me because she’s probably never got such requests as the ones I loaded on her. Truly a swapper/cp’er extraordinaire.

Personally, I stink at cps, swaps, trading, etc….since I started Musings. I just have no time to complete a good cp and I’m a total wash up. It’s so bad I just stopped offering altogether.

But days of old when swapping was my game I’ve been lucky enough to always have a great partner to trade with. I can only recall two times that I had a problem with a swap and I’ve never mentioned them on the Internet until now but have been known to make my friends laugh rather loudly when I tell them that swapping can sometimes be disgusting.

Generally I never look to swap anything used. I’ve been known to swap away gently used items however I personally don’t want used items. I know I’m so anal, apologies. Moral of the story is everything I’ve ever swapped for was brand new aside from this one time when I decided to swap for a MAC Cream Blush. At the time the girl who contacted me wanted something really badly from my list and she had absolutely nothing I wanted. But she was begging and pleading with me so I felt bad enough to give in and select an item from her list. I ended up going with a MAC Cream Blush that said “gently used”…honestly I had no intention of using it because I know how I am, miss germ-a-phobe, but since her list consisted of 99% used goods it was the only item that looked somewhat good. I was thinking once I got it I could just put it back up for swap.

I got it alright but the description failed to tell me that the swap also included hair. Omg so gross. The compact had two strands of long brown hair. Can I tell you I didn’t even bother opening it. I took one look at the blush through the transparent plastic barrier and proceeded to ditch it.

Ew!

Just ew!

To add insult to injury she included two extras. Extra that were also used…as in used chapstick in Cherry and some no name lipstick that was equally used almost completely used up…maybe 50% lipstick remained.

To say I was horrified is an understatement.

That’s about the worst swapping experience I’ve had thankfully.

How about you?

What are some of your swap nightmares?

Tell the Muse!

Sneak Peeks: Bobbi Brown Ivy League Collection Review and Swatches

Oh. my. god. The Muse is so about the Bobbi Brown Ivy League Collection! I told you a bit about the collection yesterday and popped a sneak peek of my FOTD today on Twitter.

For Fall the bold, green eye look is too entirely flattering for brown eyes in my humblest. Putting aside the preppy factor and just rejoicing over such a true, gorgeous shade of forest green is enough to make me dance around in circles of joy.

Check it after the jump!

So far I’ve only gotten my hands on Bobbi Brown Shimmer Wash Eye Shadow in Golden Leaf but I want to haul the other emerald green shade that is being released. The texture of the shadow is super smooth, blends beautifully, and is deeply pigmented, delish! Although it’s a shimmer wash shadow it still manages to have a velvet-like finish with a subtle hint of golden sparkle. Too pretty.

To accompany the greens in the collection a new Bobbi Brown Long Wear Gel Eyeliner in Forest Shimmer Ink was created. The color has a dominate brown note but also has the deeper aspects of a golden olive green. The shade is perfectly suited to the two shadows released and could possibly work as both a liner and a base.

I also told you about the new Bobbi Brown Creamy Eye Pencils. I got one in brown plum. Quite a nice, moisturizing pencil that glides on smoothly without skipping and smudges like a dream. For my look today I didn’t use the pencil but I have a future FOTD planned with it.

Honestly for me the stars of this show are the Forest Shimmer Ink Gel Liner and the two new shadows, particularly Golden Leaf. Although I favor a warm look in the Fall that’s made up of browns, golds, and occasionally oranges I can’t deny that such a deep, dark green is utterly flattering and fitting for the season.

Well done Bobbi. Another incredible line up.

For my look below I simply used Golden Leaf eye shadow all over my lid and crease followed up with Forest Shimmer Ink liner on my waterline. You can see how dramatic the look is, it obviously speaks for itself that a simple wash of shadow on my lids and a little lining created a bold, beautiful look! Also as promised a close up of my eye using Urban Decay Eye Lash Primer and Urban Decay Skyscraper Mascara…I think you can see the results are quite nice when the two are combined.

Anyone hauling?

Excited as I am about all that green?

Tell it!
