Beauty Bits & Bobs
The Muse is for the most part a supporting fan of Victoria’s Secret Cosmetics. She’s wondering what you think of their cosmetic line up?
Is Victoria’s Secret a Yay or Nay for you?
Find out what I think after the jump!
I generally like almost all of the Limited Edition Collections that Victoria’s Secret puts out. Most of the regular catalog items aren’t particularly wonderful but they seem to go the extra mile with LE products. Most LE items are pretty special packaging wise and quality wise. Which is why I always pick up the LE items.
So my answer? Yay and Nay for this Muse!
Nay on the regular boring line up…not so great packaging wise, not really pigmented enough to oh and ah over, and just nothing special to get hyped about. A bit expensive too for the quality you get.
Yay on the LE items! Def special! Color payoff is normally quite good, packaging is unique and pretty, and quality is generally quite good.
How about you?
Yay or Nay or both?

It’s official peeps! Stila is back! WWD
reports that Stila is ready to kick it again.
Jump ahead for the deets!
Recently Stila defaulted on loans from Wachovia and CIT group which lead lenders to foreclose on the company causing chaos for beauty junkies and Stila lovers far and wide.
Stila has been officially sold to New York private equity Patriarch Partners. Stila was originally a label under Estee Lauder but branched out.
BloggingStocks has a report from The Wall Street Journal as saying that “Stila, which maintains a cult following with products such as a browns sugar lip gloss and a pale seafoam blue eyeshadow, joins other high-end niche beauty lines struggling to tempt cash-strapped shoppers. The brand is sold in department stors and through specialty retails such as Sephora.”
Ummm shows how much Wall Street Journal knows about beauty…seafoam blue shadow? brown sugar lip gloss? That’s def not the highlight of Stila.
Again, Lipstick Indicator or Lipstick Economy comes into play in various articles regarding Stila describing how women cut back on pricer items but turn to affordable items such as drugstore cosmetics rather than higher end brands like Stila which accounts for their recent struggles.
Moral of the story kids is Stila’s back! I look forward to it’s growth and success in the years to come. The Muse for one is a fan!
NARS is pretty expensive and I always wince somewhat when purchasing a shadow (‘elllllllllo $22 less the richer) or a blush (buy-bye $25!).
Today’s beauty news brings word of NARS on HSN….hello easy pay and free shipping!
This is news to me as I hadn’t known that NARS was being sold on HSN. It’s likely part of HSN’s deal with Sephora as HSN has begun to carry more and more of the brands from Sephora as you may have already noticed. I can so deal with Free Shipping on NARS plus they offer easy pay options.
Minor rant, the catalog features four items…sheesh but maybe given time we’ll see more!
At the moment they have the NARS Dolce Vita Kit for $50 bucks on two easy payments of $25 each plus Free Shipping, that’s what I’m talkin’ about! They also have a trio of lip pencils for $45, again on easy pay plus free shipping.
I’m not feeling nearly as guilty indulging in NARS with an easy pay option and free shipping. Now, HSN, please can you bring in the full catalog of NARS so we can get our fix?
As my Spring season comes to an end I have less and less Spring Collection reviews to worry about. I know, terribly weird being in the middle of Spring without a ton of Spring cosmetics to review but so the life of a beauty blogger goes, we are always one step ahead of the game.
Summer approaches fast and already I have my head buried in Summer collections…..
However, today is all about you!
Today is an open mic of sorts for you to sound off on items, collections, skincare, etc…that you’re really wanting a review on. So please go ahead and comment and tell me what you’d like to see reviewed, swatched, and talked about in the upcoming months!
The Muse looks forward to hearing your thoughts on this!
