Beauty Bits & Bobs
Last week I was wandering around Pursebuzz when I noticed she had posted a Free Shipping coupon code for FaceFront Cosmetics. After visiting the site I kinda got all hyped up from the really nice promo images and decided to order.
Hey, free shipping plus cool makeup pictures gets me excited what can I say?
Upon visiting Face Front’s site I kinda got hyped over the lack of variety. I know, weird right? The Muse excited about a small amount of product…what’s the world coming too?
Read on to hear more about my haul and impressions!
The lack of variety at FaceFront did relieve me somehow. Whenever I log onto some of these mineral sites I’m presented with an obscene amount of product which causes me to quickly close my browser. The Muse knows her compulsive nature and she’ll end up adding one of each color available when presented with THAT much variety.
Hold me, I’m scared.
Seriously, all that selection is sincerely awesome but it’s just a little bit too much sometimes. So relief was definitely one emotion I was feeling when I seen that FaceFront had a nice selection of product but not every single shade known to man (and some unknown). Phew! After exploring a bit I was impressed with the bolder shades of blushes and shadows and felt like they were quite unique from other e-tailers so I decided I might as well order.
I got my order within a few days all wrapped up tight. I selected two blushes and three shadows to start my journey and was pleased when they arrived in generous size jars. The blushes were $16 USD each and the shadows were $10 USD. The blushes are 0.03 gram jars and have a healthy amount of product inside so I didn’t think $16 was too bad a deal. I was disappointed though upon seeing my order that the swatches were terribly inaccurate on the site but I was happy how vibrant the shades were. I suppose this line isn’t for everyone as the shades are bright and quite bold but I do think quite workable with a lighter hand. I was quite pleased with both blushes, although they are easily duped from the Aromaleigh Rocks Collection that I indulged in a few months ago. But regardless I still liked them and I think I’ll consider ordering a few other shades. The colors I choose were Buenos Aires and Full of Ferocity. Buenos Aires is a bright orange that appears peach on my cheeks and Full of Ferocity is a coral red, dominant on the red please which gives my cheeks a just pinched look.
FaceFront and Aromaleigh Blush Comparison
Being quite pleased with the blushes I was excited about trying the shadows out but sadly they aren’t as up to par with other minerals I’ve tried. You may like these if you like a sheer shadow wash otherwise I don’t suggest them as they aren’t too pigmented and color rubs off quite easily. The formula is a very fine powder which could be why the powder fails to adhere to the eyelid well. I got three total colors and all of these were quite sheer when applied and not as pigmented as I was hoping for. The colors I tried were Ice Melt, Razzle, and Blushing. All three are stunning in the packaging just not so great formula wise. Ice Melt is a golden shimmer which morphs into an icy iridescent pearl, Razzle is a shimmering cranberry shade, and Blushing is pink with touches of peach shimmer.
All in all the company does have some nice items, in particular the blushes, I’m pretty interested in returning for a second order to see if the other shadows are of better formulation than the ones I ended up selecting. I am considering more blushes as well since these were a nice item. It wasn’t the best mineral e-tailer I’ve tried but it had a few items worth looking at.
I’ll be doing some FOTD’s shortly with these items so you can see what they look like on.
How about you?
Ever tried FaceFront Cosmetics?
What mineral e-tailers do you love?

Just a friendly note from your Muse about Asian Spring Collections, currency, and other general babblings about saving your money.
I know quite a few of you have recently e-mailed me about how exciting you’re finding the Lunasol Spring Collection and I totally agree it’s very, very nice. I have my eye on a few items from Lunasol at the moment, Jill Stuart, and a few other high street Japanese brands however I am playing it safe at the moment as the yen is very strong.
At the moment a palette of 5,600 yen will be jacked up at nearly $10 with the current conversion rate. Wince. It’s not only USD that’s feeling the brunt, if you’re converting from Singaporean dollar or sterling at the moment it comes to almost the same amount only off by a mere $1 USD and some change. I do urge you to wait if you’re purchasing items that aren’t LE at the moment as the conversion rate really does drain the pockets.
This is of course in terms of direct purchasing from Japan and not going through a secondary online shopping party. I noticed that palettes are racing up to $75 USD at certain online shops which I really find intense and a tiny bit absurd. The Muse loves herself some makeup but $75 per a palette…that’s a bit much.
Korean Won looks particularly gloomy as well but remains at a 100% return on the US dollar which is perfectly fine in my opinion however I do expect a tiny bit more on my dollar when converting and became a bit spoiled with that aspect but at least I’m not losing money during the conversion which is always a plus.
TWD, SGD, and Sterling are iffy at best. Particularly sterling, as always, converts like rubbish but not too severe.
Well anyway I can go on and on I fear but the moral of the story is at the moment if you’re shopping Spring Collections abroad do take into consideration your current conversion rate, stop, think, and ask yourself if you really need it right now or if it can wait until currency conversions are looking a tiny bit better. If it’s LE I do suggest snapping it up but if it’ll be around you can always wait a bit and get it later on.
Of course, I should take my own advice in this but the Muse is known for wanting instant gratification when it comes to makeup and she fears she’ll give in to her urges prior to thinking about it which will bite into a large chunk of her Spring Collection budget! Yak! Groan!
How’s your currency converting at the moment?
Yay or Nay?

I know I’ve gotten a few questions about subscribing to comments and there was some confusion about how to do this since I started using a comment box here on Musings.
Just see the diagram below for easy to follow instructions so you can post and receive replies in your inbox when I or someone else comments! There were also a few questions on commenting if you didn’t have an account and yes, of course you can comment if you don’t have an account, see below for details as well.

Although the Muse isn’t the biggest fan in the world of Valentine’s Day she can definately open her heart to the love of the Lush Valentine’s Day Collection this year!
I’m quite surprised that Lush went all out this year with it’s fine selection of Valentine’s Day gift sets. Last year the collection was a good deal smaller and I honestly thought it would be even more so this year with the economy the way it is!
But not the case at all! 5 gift sets and a few new products are on the table to sweeten up yours, a friend’s, or a loved one’s Valentine’s Day this year! Check out below for the details on what’s available!
All in all a rather lovely little round up of nice gifts from Lush! I have my eye on the Strawberry Feels Forever Massage Bar, You Wash My Back Soap, and a My Fair Lady Gift Set.
Is it ok to say I really want the Lush Hello Sailor Gift Set for the tattoo alone. What? I’m a sucker for temporary tattoos because I’m too much of a wussy to get a real one!
Snag 15% off your entire order using code GIFTFORYOU09
Get ‘em while they are here because once they are gone you’ll have to bid them farewell till next year!
But of course the Muse’s is the fairest of them all!
Ok, maybe not. I probably made that up but I happen to be a legend in my own mind…that counts for something right?
Speaking of mirrors you can nab yourself a super steal at the moment as the Too Faced Mirror Mirror Lip Gloss Set is currently hitting pay dirt over @ Sephora!
The Muse has a certain fondness…ok…PASSION for Too Faced Mirror Mirror Gloss! Loves this stuff. Alot. Possibly thee best lipgloss I’ve tried in a while. I’ve already reviewed it here on Musings but it’s well worth a re-mention as it’s currently on sale at Sephora.
Nab yourself a four pack of Too Faced Mirror Mirror Gloss for $21 USD! That’s $5.25 per a gloss and well worth it in the Muse’s humble opinion. Hello, perfectly cheap so nice to see you around here darling!
