Beauty Bits & Bobs
The Muse brought you news of possibly no Sephora Friends and Family for this year yesterday! She was crushed to share such devastating news! She did her homework and called and emailed all the right people and they all said the same thing…”Nope, no Friends and Family this year, sorry!”
But the Muse wasn’t feeling right at all about this so she decided to take things up a notch and she e-mailed a rather lovely person. The lovely person replied quite promptly and sent the Muse a very happy little e-mail back!
And here…the Muse is…to save the day and possibly your Holiday Season too.
The Muse brings you….with much happiness…news of Sephora Friends and Family 2008!
You may all rejoice now!
So it wasn’t enough that I tortured you today with one really crummy concealer but here I am again with another rubbish concealer!
Meet Bourjois Paris Anticerne pour Petits Matins:
Better known to the Muse as Bourjois Paris Light Diffusing Concealer, much easier to pronounce that, yes?
I’ve had this a few months now but never got around to doing the review! Bad Muse, Bad! Depending on how you see it you’ll be either really happy it’s not available in the US or really sad. This is exclusive to the UK and possibly the Netherlands and a few other European countries, honestly I haven’t checked all the site portals so I’m unsure but I got mine from England.
Now honestly as far as I’m concerned normally concealers that come in click style pens with brush applicators are a NEVER go wrong item! I’ve tried so many I’ve lost count but I do know I’ve always been plenty pleased with them however, with much dismay, I have to give a poor review to this one.
I generally love everything and anything Bourjois Paris puts out however they really did a poor job with this concealer. Although I wasn’t expecting a miracle, I did expect that the concealer would at least cover my basic woes such as fine lines, dark shadows, and just make my eyes more awake and fresh. Sadly, this did nothing at all for anything in and around my eyes. I was secretly hopeful this would be a nice, thick, moisturizing, pigmented concealer that would replace my very expensive Dior Booster Pen however that’s so NOT the case.
I’m unsure why the product fails so miserable. One main problem is of course is it seriously lacks any pigmentation. It glides on well enough and the formula, although not thick, is nicely cooling and moisturizing however the lack of pigmentation causes the main problem. In Bourjois’ defense I will say that this isn’t really supposed to act as a concealer but more of a highlighter for deflecting off of dark circles and creating the illusion of a better rested you but…well..it doesn’t do that either. Honestly, it does a whole lot of nothing.
On top of not doing much in the ways of making the Muse appear rested and awake it also kinda lends a helping hand in making my already dry under eyes even more dry! Sigh! Rant! As you’re smoothing on and patting into place it feels quite nice and moisturizing however after the better part of the day goes by your left with major creasing and a dryness that only the Sahara could surpass!
Although the click style pen is a super plus for the Muse as is the handy dandy brush applicator…if I’m honest…neither of those features do much to impress me after my rather long list of wrongs with the product!
I know I wrongfully expected a miracle but at the very least I did want something that at least worked. This one is on the Muse’s do not buy list! I just couldn’t love it.
The good news is Bourjois Paris has introduced a new concealer which looks promising! The Muse thinks you should hold out and try this new concealer and avoid the Bourjois Paris Light Diffusing Concealer! I’ll try to get a review up of this one shortly!
By the way since we are on the topic of jolly old England did you know that they announced the latest Doctor Who Christmas Special for this year! Lord knows, my Holiday isn’t complete without knowing the Doctor will make an appearance for Christmas! The Muse enjoys all that wibbley wobbley timey wimey stuff! If there wasn’t any Doctor at Christmas it would be like the Year without Santa Claus! GASP! Thank god David decided to take time off of Hamlet to grace us with his presence this Christmas! (Hint: The picture is a bit of a tip off for what to expect this coming season! You either already know what the episode will be about or what is coming thanks to the pic!)
This post is a long time coming………….
You might know I’m a serious rocker (or not. I’m alot of things you don’t know hehe!). I adore vintage rock in a big way.
I was heartbroken when AC/DC decided to sell out to Walmart. Yeah, sorry if you had to hear about it on my blog but it’s true. AC/DC has sold out to Walmart.
It’s all quite true.
AC/DC hasn’t released in album in nearly 7 years or so but they decided it would be a SUPER duper idea to release one exclusively to Walmart. But why Muse for the love of god WHY!?
I wondered the same thing.
Turns out Walmart just brought three million copies of the album in one go. Great deal for AC/DC no waiting to actually sell the CD, it’s sold already, all three million, to of all places, Walmart.
Did I mention I hate Walmart? Walmart is a drain on economy among other evils that I won’t begin to get into.
I choose to remember bands like AC/DC as they were so no I won’t indulge in an exclusive Walmart CD by AC/DC no matter how I love them or how great the CD is.
But honestly, in all seriousness, how good could this CD possibly be if Walmart will be carrying it?
Go buy the latest AC/DC CD at Walmart! Hardcore! You can insert a picture of me rolling my eyes here. Is my sarcasm thick enough for you?
To add insult to injury and to pour salt in my already open wound I proceeded to read about how Guns n’ Roses is rumored to be releasing a new album to Walmart too.
Has the world gone mad?
Has hell frozen over and I wasn’t sent the memo?
Next thing you know KISS will be doing a song for a Disney movie!
Who knows maybe Walmart will exhume Joey Ramone for a single. Stranger things are obviously happening as is what’s one more step for those wild and crazy rockers at Walmart.
Indeed these are some things to consider.
It’s when these bands go off the drugs and enter the land of the sober that the bad decisions begin to happen.
Remember kids it’s best to stay on drugs, wreck hotel rooms, bed tons of fan girls, and act wild and crazy but don’t sell out to Walmart. The Muse no likey that idea at all.
This is a public servant announcement from a die hard rock fan.
I will mention that it appears Guns N’ Roses will be releasing Chinese Democracy without the aid of Walmart….praise Jeebus maybe someone is listening up there! However, we won’t BEGIN to get involved in all the problems with Axl’s aging or the fact that Slash and Duff are no shows….that’s a blog for another day!
I leave you with good music that hasn’t been touched by the evil empire!
This morning I decided to crack open my MAC lip palette in Devoted Poppy from the new MAC Passions of Red Collection and do a little Face of the Day with it!
I dare do say that this is the first time I’ve purchased a lip palette from MAC or anywhere else to be honest. My downward spiral into the uncharted waters of lip palettes occurred when I recently purchased and fell in love the the lip palette from Bobbi Brown’s Pink Satin Collection.
I now have in my collection two lips palettes! I’m such a wild and crazy Muse aren’t I? Who knew I’d LIKE lip palettes!
I always avoid lip palettes as I feel they are messy as hell and yes the fact still remains they are kinda messy however MAC Devoted Poppy is so pretty that I couldn’t resist the allure of the peachy, warm shades and beautiful, shiny gem encrusted compact!
the Muse likey!
Devoted Poppy includes two lipsticks in Devoted and Softtalk and one gloss in Transparent Love. Combining the shades will create an endless array of different looks or using each shade individually will get you three seperate looks.
Although my swatches are quite sheer, rest assured that the colors included are quite pigmented. Devoted is a true orange shade while Softtalk is more of a burnt orange. Transparent Love is a transparent beige shade which lends a nice glossy layer to either of the two lipstick shades.
To create my look below I used a wash of Softtalk and a heavy layer of Transparent Love. I also used the new Jill Stuart Illuminance Palette in Brocade Gold from Fall Collection 2008.
What I used to create my look:
For my second look I combined the two lipstick shades and topped with a soft layer of the gloss! When combined the colors give a pigmented burned orange look which is quite nice for a Fall look!
All in all I was quite pleased with the MAC Devoted Poppy Lip Palette and I’ve been considering indulging in the other two as I really like the looks of them. I actually feel some guilt that I haven’t indulged in any past lip palettes that MAC has put out now! Damn!
But ado at least now I’ve paved the way for a new addiction! Lip palettes here I come!
