Pieces of Life
Here’s one for the Lestat fans (there have to be one or two of you out there in cosmetic land).
It appears Anne Rice is returning to her roots and giving Lestat some much needed air to breath, he’s been buried up in his tomb for far too long and many of his fans miss him (the Muse does!). Anne Rice spoke to Time Magazine recently and promises one more book for Lestat.
It interests me she’ll be breathing life back into Lestat but I fear for Lestat’s return as from the article’s tone it appears Lestat will be released back into the head storm of Anne Rice’s religious hurricane (I’m an atheist, no I’m not, yes I am, no I’m not!)!
If you’ve been buried under a rock for 12 years or you’re just not a big reader you probably haven’t noticed the lack of blood dripping from Anne Rice novels as of late. That’s simply because Anne Rice is no longer an atheist and “re-found” the catholic church. In short terms, this meant she’d buried the Vampire Chronicles and ‘the evil” it created for her and she’d take on the new adventure of writing about Christ’s life. I can’t make this stuff up it’s all completely true. A lady that was writing about Sleeping Beauty in Bondage a few years ago is now a hardcore Christian…I dunno..whatever floats your boat I guess…stranger things have happened right?
I haven’t been a fan of Anne in a while in all honesty. Her work began a downward spiral a very long time ago and Lestat had long since lost his ability to speak to me since…god…who knows a very long time ago.
I’ve done my duty, as a good fan, and read through everything she’s put out (with much difficulty) over the course of the last several years. Reading Memnoch was at times comparable to root canal surgery with a rusty drill!
I guess we do that from time to time with someone we love reading (King is a good example). We fall under the illusion that the next book out will surely recapture the intense feeling we experienced when we originally read the author’s first book. But it’s never really the case is it?
Lestat’s return won’t happen for a few more years yet I imagine (even the article states as much) but I’ll keep some sort of hope (not a high hope…) alive that he might make a colorful reappearance in her next novel! Who knows maybe Lestat will learn to communicate on the same level with Anne that he used to before Anne went off on her trip to Never Never Land without him.
The Muse looks forwards to the gentleman vampire’s return (even though my gut tells me it’s going to be a very weird trip)!
Cheers Lestat de Lioncourt! High hopes for one last big bang before you disappear off the literary circuit for good.
By the way if you’re really missing the goth you can always appease your hunger by reading Christopher Rice’s dribble…that’s not quite root canal surgery…it’s more alone the lines of brain surgery while you’re fully awake!

You might already know I have a little obsession with bento art. This translates as me browsing Japanese blogs for good bento lunch ideas. I came across a rather awesome blog of amazing bento packed lunches! One in particular really had me laughing!
Hard Gay in your bento!
Do you love it?
Sincerely the resemblance is uncanny don’t you agree?
The cuppa tea I was sipping while scanning through this blog is now dripping happily down my monitor as when I seen Hard Gay shaking his thing in a bento box it was either laugh and choke or laugh and spray. I decided it was best to laugh and spray!

A little bird whispered into my ear about possible updates to the Neil Gaiman Selections on Bpal.
If you’re a collector of Bpal or just a general fan of Gaiman this may be exciting to you!
If you’re unsure what Bpal is have a click over here for some info! If you have no idea who Neil Gaiman is you suffer the dire consequences of possibly being kicked off my blog permanently, ok maybe we’ll forgive you but just this once! k? k.
The Muse worships at the shrine of Gaiman so anything Gaiman related is always great!
The little bird told me about a scent being released entitled Snow, Glass, Apples. Oh Joy! My heart literally stopped when I heard this! Can you imagine such a blend as this? I’m picturing something cool and refreshing with bits of fruit and and a beautiful underlay of ozone! Snow, Glass, Apples was written over 10 years ago and is a twist on the age old story of Snow White. I actually have a copy of it that was purchased from BDP at the time. I believe, don’t quote me, you can find a few copies laying around on Amazon that collector’s are selling if this is something that interests you. In all honesty if you’re not a Gaiman fan you’re sincerely not going to want to shell out the money for a copy so maybe stick to his newer works that are readily available and about.
The good news though is now you can purchase a perfume oil that captures the story! I’m very eager to hear if this is true. According to my little bird it appears that the scent was available at Bpal Will Call. Whether it was allowed to be purchased I’m unsure of as the details are foggy but it does seem that the Gaiman selection on Bpal at the moment, which consists of 7 blends, will be updated soonish!
I have high hopes for this new blend because really the ones available at the moment aren’t entirely Muse approved.
In other Gaiman related news…The Graveyard Book is completed! Squeal! Around 12:55pm (UK Time) yesterday Neil updated his blog to say a few nights ago he completed the book and is now busy tweaking it (CLICK!). Needless to say I’m excited!
A new perfume oil, A new book, a new film (Coraline is being released in 2009)…..A great start to Monday morning me thinks!
So Gene Simmons has been whoring himself on telly lately….This is off the topics of cosmetics so you might want to turn away while I babble vintage rock.
I couldn’t sleep last night so around 3 am I found myself sitting up in bed with my ultra awesome sweetest softest blanket from Bath and Body Works (I love that thing) and powering up the Tivo to catch up on Ugly Betty. It’s been weeks since the last episode and I just now got the chance to have a watch!
Much to my delight Gene Simmons popped up during the last 2 minutes of the show. Dontcha love that Gene Simmons whores himself all over TV lately? Celebrity Apprentice, Ugly Betty, Family Guy, and even SpongeBob Square Pants!
You think maybe 30 years ago Gene Simmons thought to himself “Hey when I’m 60 I think I’ll lend my ultra awesome voice to a kids show about a Sponge that lives under the sea in a pineapple! ROCK ON!” Or even better yet wouldn’t it be awesome to hear Gene sing the theme song? Holy cow I’d rock out to that.
Gene also has his own reality show on A&E called Family Jewels. As I watch Gene and his slightly dysfunctional family the thought crosses my mind of how the mighty have fallen! I can’t wrap my mind around the fact that Gene Simmons, God of Rock, has a reality show. Wow. Just Wow.
I think I was 5 and my cousin Joe, was about 17 or 18 and he’d pump up KISS on his very low end car stereo (the height of technology in our hay day) in his pimp’ed up Monte Carlo. Yup, my cousin was the Fonz. That’s right. He drove a pimp daddy, deep red Monte Carlo, wore a leather jacket, and had all the girls swooning at his feet. To this day my dad always looks back on Joe with fond memories and is in awe that he’s a family man now! Who would have thought all the grease in his head would lead to a beautiful wife and kids (sadly he doesn’t have much hair left to grease which the Muse is fond of reminding him of).
Anyway my deep appreciation for vintage rock is due to him I guess. Mostly my blog stems from the fact that I miss Joe alot lately (he hasn’t been doing so well but that’s a story for another day).
As I was watching Gene Simmons wag his tongue around on Ugly Betty last night I couldn’t help but think it would crack Joe up that this is where Gene Simmons has ended up circa 2008!
The moral of the story is we love you Gene but less cheese and more rock please! You’re killing your image!
If you’re any kind of a fan of KISS you might be tickled to know that it appears the writers of Ugly Betty have even infiltrated Paul Stanley as he’ll be on the show too shortly! Lord…what is the world coming too?
I’m predicting the future and I’m seeing Paul and Gene on Home Shopping Network next year selling anti wrinkle cream that goes on white and black and gives you the alluring charm of the Demon or the Starchild! I can’t wait till I’m 60 so I can buy it
Discuss (I imagine everyone is thinking shut up get on with the cosmetics already!)?
