If you’ve been reading Musings for a while, I’m sure you recall the days that I didn’t review drugstore brands (US ones anyway). Things have changed considerably in the last year or so and I’ve embraced alot of US drugstore brands as I wanted to cover all aspects of beauty not just high end but also lower.
This past Spring (and some of Summer if you consider it Summer already) has been an incredible time for drugstore releases. Makeup quality has changed in the past few months as have the releases in store which had made going to my local drugstore a rather fun experience rather than a chore. Granted, not ever release is a good one but hunting down new products and finding gems in the rough so to speak is always great fun.
Do take a look at the slide show below for some of the latest and greatest releases that are available now at your local drugstores. Some are well worth checking out!
If you’re reading via RSS please visit my blog to view the slide show.
Have you hauled any of these items or collections for yourself?

For the record Bourjois Paris Mineral Matte Foundation is the best thing since toasted bread and butter with a cuppa English Breakfast. I LOVE this stuff.
So of course I’m all excited about the new L’Oreal Matte Morphose Foundation. OMG yes for Summer please?

I honestly can’t wear what the makeup world calls “thee perfect shade” of red lipstick. No way, no how. Can’t be done unless you want me to look like one of those killer clowns from that really bad yet good 80′s flick, Attack of the Killer Clowns. God, that must be where my fear of clowns comes from, that movie was simply terrifying. Does anyone remember it? They’d kill people and proceed to mummify them in cotton candy…..wow, I heart the 80′s!
For many reasons, women far and wide want the perfect shade of red lipstick. If you’re looking for that true red holy grail shade you might find it in the new L’Oreal Target Red Colour Collection that’s being sold exclusively at Target. The collection also features L’Oreal Infallible Lip in the shade Target Red and L’Oreal Target Red Pro Manicure.
If red is your game, check out the Target Red Collection by L’Oreal at your local Target.
Can you wear true reds?

L’Oreal Studio Secrets Professional Secret Magic Perfect Base hit the US market this past February and I’ve kinda had it hanging around on my desk for a while now. I finally got around to testing it out the past month or so and I must say I do like it.

Way before it hit US shores, the Muse introduced you to the L’Oreal Secrets Professional Collection. Sadly, we still haven’t gotten all the items released in the collection as some are most definitely Europe exclusives at this point.
However, let’s hope we’ll be seeing the new L’Oreal Secrets Professional Spring Collection 2010!

The Muse has been busy stalking CVS lately. Mind you this type of behavior never happened prior to all the delightful releases from L’Oreal, Maybelline, Etc…..obviously, finally, the US market is catching up with the Asian one and we are getting some cool drugstore releases.
So I’m staking out CVS to see when they’ll release the L’Oreal Studio Secrets Professional line.

Grrr L’Oreal Go 360 Clean Cleanser testing is so not going well. Today I’ll be reviewing the L’Oreal Go 360 Deep Cream Cleanser.
First off some minor confusion seems to have cropped up over which cleanser you should choose. All of the cleansers according to details on Target are for normal, combination skin types. This isn’t detailed on the bottles just as read from details on Target’s website and CVS. The only one that is different would be the sensitive skin formula, which obviously is made for sensitive types.
From my own personal experience with the formulas I felt it was broken up best as follows.
L’Oreal Go 360 Cleanser Deep Cream Cleanser (Pink) Bottle
This I felt was more for dry skin due to it’s cream formula.
L’Oreal Go 360 Cleanser Deep Facial Cleanser (Green)
This I felt was more for normal/combination types although the formula was so terribly drying I’m positive oily skin types will feel right at home using it.
L’Oreal Go 360 Cleanser Deep Exfoliating Scrub (Orange)
Since this is a grainy formula I felt it best for dry skin as the scrubby bits should do well to exfoliate dry, flaky skin.
Now I’ve already reviewed L’Oreal Go 360 Cleanser Deep Facial Cleanser which has successfully created a mess of my skin. I’m terribly dry and flaky after using it a full week and it’s unlikely I’ll go back to trying it. I handed it off to my sister, who’s oily, and she proceeded to say it made her skin feel like plastic after use, not in a good way either.
I’ve been testing out L’Oreal Go 360 Cleanser Deep Cream Cleanser most of last week and this weekend. I was kinda hopeful the cream cleanser would do better on my suddenly dry skin thanks to my test out with the regular version.
Have a jump to find out.

Remember how I was telling you the good word about the L’Oreal Studio Secrets Professional Collection that will be coming atcha this February? It’s already hit the British airwaves and finally we’ll be getting it in the US shortly.
Far be it from the Muse to rejoice in drugstore cosmetics, you know what a snob I am, but I must say I was ever so delighted that the new L’Oreal HIP Studio Secrets Professional Crystal Shadow Duos were available at my local Harmon’s. I ended up snagging all five of the shades because I can’t resist anything that has shimmer and these are just too pretties for words.
Have a little jump to hear my thoughts.
