Here’s the new Almay Wake Up Hydrating Makeup display that I recently reviewed for you. It’s such an exciting product but a damn shame it fails to work.
The powder has a cool, refreshing feel which is quite lovely but zero coverage after I tried it.
Anyone see or try it as of yet?

The new Maybelline Volum’ Express One by One Mascara just looks like a waterproof version of their regular Volum’ Express to me but don’t quote me here.
The package reads as follows: Exclusive lash brush captures, coats and cleans every single lash for the most refined volume from root-to-tip. Instant clump-free volume.
I imagine lovers of the regular Volum’ Express will want to check this one out!

Late Winter, early Spring 2011 Collections are popping up in drugstores. I’ve been sneaking through CVS, Harmons, and Walgreens and seeing all sorts of goodies. I took some photos of various items and will be reviewing them all soonish but for now I thought you’d enjoy seeing and hearing about some of them.
Milani has a total of 14 (don’t quote me on that number) new eyeshadows out for Spring 2011. I confirmed with a rep that these are indeed set for a Spring release and part of the Spring Collection however my local CVS already has them out and available.

Milani Melange Infusion of Colors Marble and Milani Metallic Baked Eyeshadows are a redesign of the standard Milani Runway Eyes Wet/Dry Eyeshadows.
I haven’t tried them yet but I will say some of the shades are stunning.
I’ll have swatches and a review up soon!

Anyone successful scoring some of the Hard Candy Holiday Gift Sets? Lots of endless, useless, and torturing steps through the Evil Empire but no luck here.
Good news though, some are available on Walmart’s website and have free shipping if it appeals!
I did get a Hard Candy Bad Girl Next Door Set to try out which should appeal to those wanting a quickie, budget smoked out eye look!

Read More...It looks like you’ll see a new wave of hydrating foundation powders in the makeup come Spring (or now if you check around), so far I’ve seen two. Both Revlon and Almay have two new hydrating powder foundations available which mimic MAC Dr. Facilier Magically Cool Liquid Powder.
It’s been a while since this type of powder has made the drugstore rounds. I can only remember one instance of it actually and perhaps you remember it too, it was from Physicians Formula and must be at least 10 to 15 years back when they had a pink powder that had a hydrating, cool, water-like effect. A few high end types such as Awake have had such powders as well.
You can commonly find these from Asian brands however they haven’t quite taken off in the US and if the formulas are anything to go by now, may never take off. But we’ll see….

I used to stick to the high end road on Musings for a very long time but many of you expressed more budget friendly posts and thus my adventures in drugstore land began. I’m lucky the walls don’t crumble down around me when I walk into a drugstore because lord knows I avoid the makeup aisles at the local shops like the plague.
But lately….
Things have improved and brands are definitely competing with their more higher end sisters. So Beauty and a Budget is definitely a regular deal around these parts and I’m ever so happy to bring you a great deal on makeup that has high quality to back it up!
