My latest obsession, newest YOU need this product, Shiseido Brightening Veil.
I picked this up on a whim from Sephora.com a few months ago. I’ve been meaning to get it for a while now but I kept forgetting to put it into my cart.
Thank god I finally remember because I’m not sure I can live without it now!

In 2009 Benefit introduced Hello Flawless! and I proceeded to shout Hello Gorgeous! as my skin rejoiced in the fact that I could wear a great powder without looking dry and flaky.
Ever after that faithful day Benefit Hello Flawless! remains an HG powder of choice for me.
Today I thought I’d introduce you to the new shades of Benefit Hello Flawless! and revisit my original review.

Sorry guys little late with my review of the Laura Geller Escape to the Tropics Color Collection but quite fitting as the weather is so very Spring-like today. It was nice pulling this gorgeous kit out of my review pile and indulging in tropical hues and not worrying about how I had to get out my deep sea diving gear to make my way into the snow, wet, and cold! Today we got sun, a brisk cool breeze, and the birds chirping crazily in excitement that maybe, just maybe, Spring might be on the way!
I HOPE you all got your hands on this set but if not, no worries, it’s still available so after the review if you’re wanting it you can indulge!

If you hit up your drugstore for Spring makeup you’ll have some rather refreshing options in the foundation department. Both Almay and Revlon have new hydrating mineral foundation available. My recent test out with Almay Wake Up Hydrating Makeup ended rather badly but I still wanted to test our the Revlon ColorStay Aqua Mineral Makeup as well out of curiosity.
The idea behind the powders is that they give a burst of cool, refreshing finish. These are ideal placements for Spring considering your face is probably dry and suffering from the Winter blues and something cool, refreshing, and hydrating as a base would be a fab little pick. Agreed?
Sadly, Almay’s version proceeded to oxidize right on contact and offered very little in the way of coverage. Let’s check out Revlon and see if they have a better product on their hands!

I do think the idea of “color” matching foundation formulas sounds cool but end up making us laugh a little. Foundation that magically turns into our perfect shade? Mmm always skeptical when it comes to these product eh? Almay does one as does a few other companies. In some cases they can work if they actually match your skin tone however in most cases, let’s be honest, they prob aren’t that perfect match we are seeking. Considering blushes and lipsticks also embrace this technology and fail at it, is it really any wonder that foundations can’t cut it either?
Josie Maran Matchmaker Argan Serum Foundation is the newest product to embrace this “technology” with a breakthrough color match technology that supposedly reads and instantly adjusts to match to your skin tone for your own unique shade of foundation!
Does it work?

The appeal of Lola Masquerade Foundation can probably be left unspoken by me. Gorgeous packaging right? Glass, vintage style jar….Mmm, yes I don’t think I need to say much here.
But there’s also the fact that Lola dubs it a trip to the “fountain of youth”, do you think that trip includes Captain Jack as your wing man? I sure as hell hope so at $45 a jar.
Supposedly the formula contains revolutionary Chinese medicinal ingredients that help restore your skin to a more youthful appearance. I’m honestly not sure about all that after using it for a few weeks however I can tell you about the formula….

The Covergirl NatureLuxe Collection should be winging its way to your local drugstore if it isn’t already there (chances it is as I’ve seen displays up everywhere). This is Covergirl’s big launch for the new year featuring Taylor Swift as their spokeswoman.
The NatureLuxe Collection is a higher end product with a more luxurious formula that can found at local drugstores. Honestly, when they said luxury makeup I was a bit wary of the price but turns out the Natureluxe Silk Foundation is merely $11.99 so yes a bit higher than the norm but not by much and still very fitting for the budget beauty shopper.
The collection is not an organic line of product it does however rely on quality ingredients that are inspired by a more green friendly makeup.
What did I think of the new Covergirl Natureluxe Silk Foundation?

It looks like you’ll see a new wave of hydrating foundation powders in the makeup come Spring (or now if you check around), so far I’ve seen two. Both Revlon and Almay have two new hydrating powder foundations available which mimic MAC Dr. Facilier Magically Cool Liquid Powder.
It’s been a while since this type of powder has made the drugstore rounds. I can only remember one instance of it actually and perhaps you remember it too, it was from Physicians Formula and must be at least 10 to 15 years back when they had a pink powder that had a hydrating, cool, water-like effect. A few high end types such as Awake have had such powders as well.
You can commonly find these from Asian brands however they haven’t quite taken off in the US and if the formulas are anything to go by now, may never take off. But we’ll see….
Almay Wake Up Hydrating Makeup is my focus today and later in the week I’ll introduce you to Revlon’s new Photo Ready Hydrating Makeup.
Let’s have a look and feel free to share your thoughts and experiences with hydrating makeups you’ve come across.

They tell me imitation is the highest form of flattery. Perhaps Maybelline Dream Mousse is feeling all kinds of flattered that L’Oreal Magic Smooth Souffle Foundation is looking all kinds of similar.
L’Oreal Magic Smooth Souffle Foundation just recently launched and should be at your local drugstores. It’s a whipped souffle-like foundation much like Dream Mousse. Don’t quote me, I’m not an expert, but this is probably only the second whipped foundation within the US market. I can’t honestly think of another available here in the US.
Now I like whipped foundations ALOT particularly Bourjous’ version, damn that stuff is amazing. However, I’ve had my ups and downs with Dream Mousse and normally stick to using it in the Summer when I want lighter coverage.
I was all about trying this new version from L’Oreal and was quite curious how it would stand up against other formulas I’ve tried in the “whipped” realm.
Let’s have a look!

I have an odd obsession with mousse foundations, one of my favs is from Bourjois Paris.
One of the reasons I love mousse so much is because it gives my skin such a beautiful finish however in most cases a formula such as this is more of a mattifying one and not so fab for drier skin like my own.
Avon Healthy Makeup Mousse Foundation is part of the new Avon Healthy Makeup champagne is supposedly helps to keep moisture locked in.

A long time ago in another galaxy far, far away I used to use Benefit Playsticks. Remember those? Retro beauty moment.
Recently the Pixi Flawless Beauty Stick passed across my desk and it just reminded me how simple life was when foundation was easiest when applied from a stick.
By the way 11 shades of Dior Nail Polishes are releasing for Holiday 2010. Love me much nail girls?

There’s something terribly appealing about flawless skin but I gotta say that the idea of complexion perfection packaged in a neat-o little box for under $50 kinda makes me hyper.
Meet the new Shiseido Perfect Complexion Kit.
Laura Mercier started the flawless box trend but Shiseido steals this show with some pretty incredible offerings in a single box for perfecting your face and getting you looking all kinds of stupid flawless.
You NEED this.

If you happen to be a long term Lush fan you probably remember B Never Too Busy To Be Beautiful. Ahh I can’t talk about B without shedding a few fat tears. B was Lush’s hip sister and caters to the realms of Lush makeup and cosmetics. Fab right?
The sad thing is, B is long since gone but not forgotten it seems as Lush is bringing more and more of B to its current offerings as you may have noticed. Where as Lush was all about Bath, Body, and Skincare in a past life, it now embraces a few choice cosmetics, B’s influence? Possibly.
Lush’s first venture into the cosmetic world would be with the new Lush Colour Supplements.
Interesting concept….

Much to my utter delight Mayeblline Dream Smooth Mousse is available for purchase in US drugstores. When I originally told you about this foundation it was only available within Europe and I thought maybe we’d have to wait as far as Fall to see it here but yay! It’s been released and is available now at your local drugstores (and on sale in most cases Buy 1, Get 1 50% Off all Maybelline).
Jump ahead to hear the good word.
