Count the Muse bored when she seen the new Bobbi Brown Perfectly Defined Mascara which was launched with the Bobbi Brown Nautical Collection. Ho-hum not a whole lot of special going on here kids.
With a promise of making the most of every lash this mascara is supposed to separate, curl, and give lashes perfect definition plus it’s safe for contact lens wearers too! Supposedly the unique multi-comb brush is the key to the amazing results….yes well that’s one of the reasons the Muse was bored. That brush looked terribly boring! What was so special about this mascara?
Probably nothing.
This is a perfect reason why you shouldn’t judge a book by it’s cover. Although Bobbi Brown Perfectly Defined Mascara looks very unappealing it actually does exactly what it promises and than some. Quite a nice mascara and a tad surprising for this Muse.
I’m one for looking for mascaras with elaborate brushes. I shop mascara brushes as I would a brand new car. It has to have tons of bells and whistles. Nothing normal or standard will do, hey kids this isn’t 1950 where one brush reigns supreme. We have so many options now a days why settle for a brush with a straight line and simple bristles when you can have curved, plastic, or straight!
But leave it to Bobbi to prove a Muse wrong.
Bobbi Brown Perfectly Defined Mascara does an incredible job of grasping all lashes, pulling up and out, defining, curling, and offering nice plump results with plenty of length. The formula stays on all day and keeps curl twice as long plus at the end of a long day it simply washes away with a little warm water! Loves it! Although the brush looks standard but looks indeed can be deceiving as it does an amazing job of keeping lashes looking lovely all day long.
At $22 USD it’s decently priced for a counter mascara that delivers. Well worth checking out, it has the potential to become a fast favorite with this Muse. Likey!
With the Summer coming at us full speed ahead, I’m sure we are all thinking about how best to minimize our makeup. Lighter makeup is always the order of business as the hot weather approaches and what better way to keep it fresh than with the new Bobbi Brown Nautical Collection releasing this May!
The Muse arranged for a little sneak peek of this collection so jump ahead for a peep!
Available in six shades Bobbi Brown Sheer Color Cheek Tint are chubby, travel friendly tubes of pigmented cheek color that glide on quickly and leave behind a glow of color. At $22 USD I wasn’t so sure on the price of these since they are half the size of a normal stick blush plus Bobbi Brown Rouge is $22 per a pot…you can see my dilemma here probably. Aside from the rant about it’s size I do think it’s a rather great little product plus I like how travel friendly it is and in a way I do like the size as I’ll run through it quickly rather than have it sit around for months because it’s just TOO much product.
The colors I tried were Sheer Pink and Sheer Coral. Sheer Coral is gorgeous and Orgasm-like shade, very peachy and pretty. Sheer Pink is a pretty sheer pink that gives a nice fresh glow. Both shades allow for sheer or bolder application. I didn’t find that these lasted as long as the potted rouge so reapplication was necessary after around 5 hours of wear.
All in all I like these alot for traveling and do like that they are tiny simply because I have plenty of product to get through. If you’re looking for nice, healthy color that’s light and fresh for the warmer weather, these make a great treat!
Also releasing with Bobbi Brown Nautical Collection is the new Bobbi Brown Sheer Color Gloss in four shades. I only have one of the four colors and I must pick up the other three as they are rather fantastic. At first glance of the promo photos I was thinking these were a lip stain. They aren’t a stain but a rather nice tacky, glossy, natural looking gloss that makes lips look quite fresh and sexy. The gloss is sheer with a tiny bit of color. It’s sticky enough to wear quite long and it goes rather nicely with the cheek tints to create a very natural, fresh look. I tried the shade Popsicle which is a very sheer pink. I liked the gloss alot and I looking forward to picking up the other shades when they are available in store.
The Bobbi Brown Nautical Collection keeps beauty natural and fresh this Summer. If you like a barely there face this collection is sure to please. I loved the FOTD’s I did for them as I thought I looked younger, fresher, and very natural using the products in the collection. Quite nice of you’re a fan of the minimal makeup look.

If you’re a beauty junkie you probably already knew that QVC had an all day beauty event on Saturday. As tempting as it was to stay inside and just watch beauty on the tube, the weather was too nice to resist the temptation of outdoor play so this Muse Tivo’ed up everything that was on this Saturday and fast forwarded through it early this morning to get a peep at what she missed!
After fast forwarding briefly I came across two or three items I had to have but was somewhat relieved that it wasn’t a ton of must have items.
Here’s what I hauled:
I’m not sure why but I got a bit crazy with all the Laura Geller items offered. It seemed like such a good deal and the Kiss and Bake set. The few times I’ve tried Laura’s baked goodies they have always been a tad chalky but I decided what the heck, might as well re-try ‘em!
As for the Bobbi Brown, obviously you can see why I love these shadows plus I thought it wasn’t too bad a deal for all three.
I’m looking forward to scrolling through the rest of my Tivo’ed recordings to see what else was offered on Saturday!
It’s that time again kids! Time for a Beauty Battle! Taking two of my favorite cream blushes and battling them again each other should make for an awesome fight. Stila Convertible Color versus Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge to the death!
Let the game begin!
Let me tell you this is sadly not much of a battle as it’s easy enough to see who will win here but let’s have a go and see what you think after I’ve butted these two against each other!
Stila Convertible Color comes housed in a cute little palette with embedded flowers on it’s lid and a nice full size mirror for on the fly application. Packaging wise Stila has it going on. When compared to Bobbi’s very minimal black pot design there isn’t much of a question which is the cuter of the two. Placing cuteness aside Stila Convertible Color has alot of catching up to do in the price and size department. At 0.15 oz in size with a price tag of $25 USD, Stila has alot of work to do to catch our attention aside from sweet packaging.
Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge def doesn’t have the cute factor in it’s ring but it has the size and the price tag to please! No mirror here and no cutesy flower compact but a $22 USD price tag and a size of a whopping 0.38 oz makes Bobbi Brown a fierce competitor for Stila Convertible Color. So that’s over double the size of Stila plus $3 bucks cheaper? Uh oh Stila look out!
Both formulas are incredibly long wearing and can easily be considered almost an identical product.
Stila takes a sucker punch from Bobbi Brown in the color department. With merely 7 shades and Bobbi coming up on 10! Things are starting to tip dangerously in favor of Bobbi’s side here. Stila defends itself with a quick punch to the left and snaps up about LE color releases for Stila Convertible Color but can we swayed by cute packaging, a few LE colors, and a high price tag? Probably not.
The winner?
Obvious isn’t?
Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge wins this beauty battle kids! Great formula, long wearing, a huge size for a nice price tag makes it the champion in this fight. Sorry Stila…it was obvious from the start you weren’t going to win this one. We love you but your size and price leaves a bit to be desired.
Oh Bobbi you always know the exact right thing to perk a Muse up! Your Nautical Collection makes me want to sail away! Must be that fresh look your model is wearing with her subtle navy eye shadow, gently flushed cheeks, and come kiss me lips.
Gorgeous is an understatement!
Keeping it soft and simple is the order of business with Bobbi Brown Nautical Collection. As the weather becomes hotter a full face of makeup becomes less and less appealing. Something softer, lighter is always a welcome relief and also flattering and pretty.
Step it up with four shades of Bobbi Brown Sheer Color Lip Gloss which is the newest gloss formula from Bobbi. It’s super sheer with just a hint of kiss me color. Available in four shades for a limited time for $20 USD each.

The Muse will take all of those glosses thanks so much! They look delicious! This collection is kinda calling my name at the moment and I’m looking forward to taking it for a spin. It’ll be especially nice for the warmer weather and makes for great light packing when traveling on holiday! Likey! Wants it!
My pink radar is currently tuned into Bobbi Brown Shimmer Lip Gloss in Confetti. Loves it!
Bobbi Brown Shimmer Lip Gloss in Confetti was released with the Bobbi Brown Platinum Collection and in my opinion easily ignored since it’s a simple, sheer pink shade. But remember kids try not to judge a book my it’s cover!
The shade does look a tiny bit dull in the tube but on my lips is looks stunning. It’s a nude pink that gives me lips a full look while coloring them a natural, sweet shade of pink! Although it’s supposed to be a shimmer formula I got more of a pearl finish to the gloss which I normally don’t like but exceptions are made for such a lovely color.
The formula has quite a bit of tack and stick so it’s incredibly long wearing however I do detest the lip brush that comes with all BB glosses. Why oh why do they always split!? It drives me quite mad and makes me grumpy as hell! Aside from that one minor rant I think Confetti is worth checking out before it’s gone for good!
Great shade, loves it and Muse Approving it for purchase!

The Muse is always up for new Bobbi so when she seen the new Bobbi Brown Lip Quads I could feel myself get giddy!
But….
Ok, so these are super cool right? And not too badly priced! $20 bucks snags you four shades! But I was thinking to myself how strange it is that these can be popped out of their compacts and placed in one of the Bobbi customizable palettes.
Wait….
Huh?
They must be really, really tiny if they can fit inside one of those palettes?! How big are the lippies? Dime size?
Hmff!
Seeing is believing! Guess I have to haul to see it for myself!
Oh my god how painful would it be if you could only select from one, single makeup brand? If you had to choose one single brand which would it be?
Jump ahead for the Muse’s choice!
Asking me to choose a single brand is like taking the color right out of my life. It would be too difficult to settle on just one but what if I had to? What if I had absolutely no choice and had to select from only, one single brand? Which would I choose?
Of course, I was leaning towards MAC because it has the most variety plus has a pretty nice user friendly price tag! But….I actually changed my mind quickly and decided on…..
Drum roll please!
Bobbi Brown.
I choose Bobbi because she has plenty of collections that release almost as often as MAC but with alot less fanfare so I’m not left feeling like I absolutely have to have everything released. I also feel as I get older the colors released from Bobbi Brown Collections are way more friendly and easier to use for evening or day looks.
I was thinking if I choose MAC, as cheap as it is, I’d probably end up going for heaps more money as I always want everything from their releases. Plus on top of that as I got older, if I had to settle for the one brand for life, I think that Bobbi Brown would be best as MAC would be a bit too loud for me at say 80!
So, if I had to settle on a single brand, I’d go with Bobbi Brown!
How about you?
If you had to choose only one single brand to purchase from for your entire life which would it be?
Money for nothing and your chicks for free! Well…hmmm….in this case it’d be money for nothing and your makeup for free!
So if someone handed you a $100 bucks right now what would you splurge on? Has to be makeup sorry rules are rules!
Unquestionably I’d spend it on the Bobbi Brown Runway Kit at Neimans! I’m simply gagging for that palette but I blew a majority of my Spring budget so I have to be good and wait. Anyone wanna give me a $100 bucks?
I think that even Marvin would find something enlightening to say about the Bobbi Brown Platinum Shimmer Brick! You can’t possibly be miserable with this hanging around your cosmetic collection can you?
All that silver and pink is quite robotic or is that my inner geek coming out to play?
Bobbi Brown Platinum Shimmer Brick could host up my new favorite category as it’s truly a gorgeous compact! Combining softer pinks with hints of silver and contrasting it all with a few bolder shades makes for an interesting cool look this Spring season! Today I reviewed Bobbi Brown Sparkle Eye Shadows for you and I couldn’t help thinking how fabulously Ballet would go with the Platinum Shimmer Brick.
The shades in the compact range from a softer pink, with a tiny touch of silver, a few bolder shades of pink, and finishing with a soft peach. Combined together the effect is a subtle pink, silver glow that highlights cheeks and face. On top of a cool pink blush this shines through as a luminous glow.
I was quite happy to see that Bobbi Brown seems to be embracing this new style compact for her Shimmer Bricks. Where as most of the older bricks are housed in a black compact this comes in a silver compact with a padded cover just like the Copper Diamond Shimmer Brick released this Winter season!
I tend to have a heavy hand during application so my FOTD’s have a slight shimmer overload look but with a lighter hand you can achieve a very nice subtle shimmer finish that’s sophisticated and perfect for daytime use. The brick screams Spring in a major way and compliments many cool looks, particularly pastels and pinks. If you’re unlucky enough to have chubby cheeks like the Muse you’ll be happy to take note that the brick creates a rather nice flushed looks to cheeks and makes your face glow. The product isn’t deeply pigmented and I think it works best on your face however you can easily use it a a nice eyeshadow for a sheer wash of color on lids.
For my look I combined a soft pink on my lids with a sparkling silver on my lower lash to contrasts with the silver and pink in the brick.
All in all the Bobbi Brown Platinum Shimmer Brick is probably one of the prettiest ones I own and it’s quite a lovely edition to my collection. This one is Muse Approved for purchase! The Muse loves the color, loves the Spring feeling of the brick, and particularly likes that sci-fi feel of it! Marvin approves too if you were wondering!
One of my absolute favorite collections this Spring is undoubtedly the Bobbi Brown Blushed Pink Collection. The simplicity of sweetly blushing cheeks paired with a soft sparkled eye look really made Spring come alive for me. Of course, I was particularly thrilled with the Bobbi Brown Sparkle Eye Shadows as these are truly a gem and I hope that the collection inspires more colors in this particular shadow format!
Jump ahead for the review on Bobbi Brown Sparkle Eye Shadows and a few other items from the Spring Collection, Blushed Pink.
Many of you asked me to review all four shades from the new Sparkle Eye Shadows so indeed I have all four shades for review. I personally couldn’t resist any of these shades as I’m all about the sparkle and shimmer. You’ll read many reviews that state how subtle the shimmer on these new shadows are and how wearable it is especially for those who really don’t like a shimmer finish. All this is true but the product also has the ability to build up color as well into a truly sparkly look if you desire.
Only four of these shadows were released and the Muse longs for more as truly they are special. Mica, Sunlight, Ballet, and Silver Moon are the shade selections. The colors are completely suitable for Spring as they have a certain lightness about them for a fresh, flirty look. Ballet is a true pink and one of my favorites, Sunlight is a fav for me as I simply adore shimmering golds, Mica is a pewter gray which goes well with smoky eye looks, and Silver Moon is creamy light silver. Each shadow is housed in the new standard black eyeshadow case the only difference being the clear flip top secondary lid that covers each shadow and prevents fall out and a mess.
Don’t expect a whole lot of pigmentation from the shadows as these are merely a hint of sparkle which makes them ideal for topping on top a completed shadow look. With a bit of work I did find I could get decent color pay off but that takes a bit of layering to work well. I think the idea of the shadow is to create a light, bright look that freshens the eye area up and doesn’t overpower it with a load of shimmer and glitter. The end result is a shimmery shadow that can work on a girl of 20 or a woman of 45.
I was somewhat surprised to read a few rants that state the shadows as having major fall out. That’s so not the case for me. If you’re wearing these on their own I find it best to use a sponge applicator to layer color. If you’re using these as a finish on a complete shadow look I find a nice bushy brush such as the MAC 224 works great at picking up some of the color and placing it lightly all over the lid.
I think the shadows work fabulously on their own for a simple understated look. Don’t let the words “simple” and “understated” fool you though as the shadows have a knack for bringing out a fresh, glowing face. These would be particularly great for using with a bolder lip look if you’re wanting to not take away from lips with a vibrant shadow.
All in all I definitely Muse Approve them for purchase as they are truly something special. If you’re a huge fan of a shimmery finish you’ll love these.
Also released with the collection were two new shades of shadow, several creamy lip colors, and a few glitter lip glosses. I have one of each shade in the categories to review for you.
The first is Bobbi Brown Matte Eye Shadow in birch. Birch is soft nude brown which I’m not a particularly big fan of simply because of the finish. I do believe these new shades were added into the collection to use as liners as you’ll notice in one of my FOTD’s above (Ballet FOTD) that the shade pairs up rather well with the Sparkle Eye Shadows to create a good liner shade. I find that most of the matte finishes in Bobbi’s shadow catalog work great as liners but I’m not a big fan of using them as an all over shadow.
Bobbi Brown Creamy Lip Color in Blush Pink is a great true pink shade. This particular color paired up well with all of the shadows in the collection but worked the best with Ballet and Sunlight. The fresh pink and gold brought out the innocent pink of this shade and added a nice fresh look to lips.
And finally Bobbi Brown Glitter Lip Gloss in Baby is a peachy pink shade heavy on the golden sparkle. This too worked well with all the shadows but particularly good with Sunlight, Ballet, and Silver Moon. Contrasting Ballet with a peachy shade of glittery gloss creates a fresh Spring look.
Overall, the Bobbi Brown Blushed Pink Collection was definitely a favorite this season and I’m positive I’ll get plenty of use out of the sparkle eye shadows. I do think the star of the show was the sparkle eye shadows! I was very pleased with all the items released but I would have loved either a cream blush or a powder blush to compliment the other items in the collection, this is probably the only thing I’d change about the release.
If you’re looking for a fresh, Spring look with light touches of pink, gold, gray, and silver, the Bobbi Brown Blushed Pink Collection has it all. As Spring draws nearer a fresher, lighter makeup is ideal and this collection offers that.
Likey!
