Reader’s Request: Bobbi Brown Cleansing Oil Review

Thanks to a few of my reader’s who brought to my attention that Bobbi Brown now has a brand new oil cleanser. Yay for oil cleansers. Nothing gets makeup off my face better than a good oil cleanser. I’m a big lover of Shu Oil Cleanser and many other smaller Asian brands as well so of course I’m quite excited to see Bobbi getting in on the game.

Honestly, not many brands cater to oil cleansers outside of Asia aside from Shu and most recently MAC so it’s great to see Bobbi Brown is making one too.

As requested here’s a review of the new Bobbi Brown Cleansing Oil.

If you haven’t used oil cleanser prior to this I’ll give you a brief break down of how it works. With a face full of make up you’ll take 2-3 pumps of oil and move it in circular motions around your face. This is on your dry face no water involved. As you rub, with the aid of the oil, makeup will begin to break up and away on your skin. Adding a tiny bit of water to your face will emulsify the oil allowing it to further break up foundation, eye makeup, etc….now you’ll rinse…done. You’ll be left with completely clean, soft skin. Although it sounds strange to those that haven’t tried it, the oil, does not leave your skin oily or greasy in anyway it rinses clean away and is ideal for any and all skin types.

Bobbi’s version is 6.7 oz in size and $38 where as Shu’s version is $35 and 5 oz. Although I like Shu very much, it’s likely Bobbi Brown Cleansing Oil will take the place of my Shu one because of price and formula.

The oil is a nice herbal scent and seems thicker compared to others I’ve tried. It glides onto my skin very nicely, breaks up makeup, and rinses clean away. I like the texture and the feel of the oil as it has a richer consistency compared to my normal brands. It removes makeup on contact and leaves my skin soft and smooth.

Overall, if you aren’t used to purchasing high end skincare this could prove an indulgence. Personally, I absolutely love it and will be replacing my current high end brand with this. It’s elegant bottle, bigger size, and incredible ability to remove all traces of makeup make it a winner for me.

Loves it!

Sneak Peeks: Bobbi Brown Ivy League Collection Review and Swatches

Oh. my. god. The Muse is so about the Bobbi Brown Ivy League Collection! I told you a bit about the collection yesterday and popped a sneak peek of my FOTD today on Twitter.

For Fall the bold, green eye look is too entirely flattering for brown eyes in my humblest. Putting aside the preppy factor and just rejoicing over such a true, gorgeous shade of forest green is enough to make me dance around in circles of joy.

Check it after the jump!

So far I’ve only gotten my hands on Bobbi Brown Shimmer Wash Eye Shadow in Golden Leaf but I want to haul the other emerald green shade that is being released. The texture of the shadow is super smooth, blends beautifully, and is deeply pigmented, delish! Although it’s a shimmer wash shadow it still manages to have a velvet-like finish with a subtle hint of golden sparkle. Too pretty.

To accompany the greens in the collection a new Bobbi Brown Long Wear Gel Eyeliner in Forest Shimmer Ink was created. The color has a dominate brown note but also has the deeper aspects of a golden olive green. The shade is perfectly suited to the two shadows released and could possibly work as both a liner and a base.

I also told you about the new Bobbi Brown Creamy Eye Pencils. I got one in brown plum. Quite a nice, moisturizing pencil that glides on smoothly without skipping and smudges like a dream. For my look today I didn’t use the pencil but I have a future FOTD planned with it.

Honestly for me the stars of this show are the Forest Shimmer Ink Gel Liner and the two new shadows, particularly Golden Leaf. Although I favor a warm look in the Fall that’s made up of browns, golds, and occasionally oranges I can’t deny that such a deep, dark green is utterly flattering and fitting for the season.

Well done Bobbi. Another incredible line up.

For my look below I simply used Golden Leaf eye shadow all over my lid and crease followed up with Forest Shimmer Ink liner on my waterline. You can see how dramatic the look is, it obviously speaks for itself that a simple wash of shadow on my lids and a little lining created a bold, beautiful look! Also as promised a close up of my eye using Urban Decay Eye Lash Primer and Urban Decay Skyscraper Mascara…I think you can see the results are quite nice when the two are combined.

Anyone hauling?

Excited as I am about all that green?

Tell it!

Although small it strikes me as a beautiful collection. I’m particularly interested in both eye shadows and the gel liner. The overall look is pretty chic while the green brings the season in very nicely for me. I’m a big lover of green on my eyes as it really makes my rather large, buggy brown eyes look mysterious and dare I say seduction so I’m looking forward to trying my hand with these items soon.

What do you think?

Not so into the prep scene?

Loving it?

Tell the Muse!

Bobbi Brown Ivy League will hit counters and Bobbi’s site in August but I’ll have the sneak peek and swatches for you this week!

Hauled It: Bobbi Brown Diamond Dust Eye Shadow Review and Swatches

Few months ago I hauled a trio of Bobbi Brown Diamond Dust Eye Shadows from QVC for $50 bucks. The Muse loves a good deal and she got these with free shipping she felt like it was a total makeup score. I’ve never seen these from Bobbi before however a friend had mentioned they were released prior to this.

Moral of the story is they are still available in a three pack for $50 from QVC if you’re lemming ‘em after my review!

Click ahead to read it.

At around $16 bucks and some change each of these are a rather great little deal. They come packaged together in a single box but each have their own box when removed from the package. Pretty cool as if you don’t like a shade or want to split up the trio with friends it ends up a pretty easy way of doing so due to the cool packaging.

You’ll get three shades in the set which are Pink Metal (Shimmering Baby Pink), Snowflake (Shimmering White), and Gilded (Shimmering Gold). The shadow quite remind me of Vincent Longo Wet/Dry Sparkle Shadows or Milani Runway Eyes Wet/Dry Sparkle Eye Shadows. Appearance wise they do seem similiar to these shadows I mentioned but the formula is considerably different. Unlike the smooth application of Milani and Vincent Longo these have a bit of a gritty texture and not as much pigmentation as a normal Bobbi shadow. Although I love the finish and I don’t mind the sheer colors I admit I’m not fond of the gritty texture which makes application a little bit of a chore. The finish results of the shadow are a very nice sparkly look, if you hate shimmer and sparkle you won’t like them but if you like a shimmer finish you’ll enjoy these.

Bobbi Brown Diamond Dust (left) versus Vincent Longo Wet/Dry Sparkle Eye Shadow (right)

Putting aside the gritty texture I do think they are a rather great steal although I prefer Bobbi Brown Sparkle Eye Shadow for a finer, easy to apply sparkle shadow.

Overall, I can’t deny I loved the price and with a little work they apply very nicely. Worthy of a pick up if you’re wanting to add to your Bobbi Brown collection!
