Guerlain Ombre Eclat Mono Eyeshadow Review

Ahh Guerlain how near and dear you are to my heart and how very broke you make me with your new releases.

Guerlain+Ombre+Eclat+Mono+Eyeshadow+4

The new Guerlain Ombre Eclat Mono Eyeshadow are enough to make my heart pound in excitement while I weep tears of joy!

Guerlain’s brand new single shadows are thee best thing that has happened to my puffy, fine lined life. Since it’s Winter my eyes are terribly dry which means wearing bolder shades is a bit difficult as they drown my eye area out. In comes Guerlain to save the day with 10 shades of perfectly soft, silky beautiful wearing single eye shadows. The Muse hearts you Guerlain, truly she does.

I purchased only one shade so far which was L’instant Precieux but I plan on going back for more soon. The shadow is silky, smooth, and blends seamlessly all this while brightening up my eye area and wearing extremely well. L’instant Precieux is a soft shimmering gold with a good solid base of yellow. This color manages to perk up my tired eyes and create a soft, youthful glow to my face. Likey alot. Although the color definately lends something to brightening up my eye area I also blame it on the formula of the shadow. The shadow formula is silky soft without a ton of pigmentation but just the right amount to leave behind a perfect flawless look to eyes. In keeping with the amazing formula of the shadows in their popular palette line up Guerlain managed to make an even better textured shadow with these new single shades.

At $38 USD these don’t come cheap but the price gets you plenty of product in an elegant gold case with applicator. Truly a stunning piece to add to any makeup collector’s collection.

Guerlain+Ombre+Eclat+Mono+Eyeshadow+1

Overall, if you’re experiencing puffy, dry eyes this season I think an investment in one or two of these shades will be a blessing as they really lend a certain glow to eyes and helps give the appearance of a fresh, awake you!

Guerlain Ombre Eclat Mono Eyeshadow are Muse Approved for purchase. Truly beautiful shadows.

Guerlain Paradise Exotique Eyeshadow Palette Review, Photos, Swatches, and FOTD

For some odd reason or another I couldn’t help but think of Toucan Sam when I seen the Guerlain Guerlain Paradise Exotique Eyeshadow Palette.

Maybe I was just hungry for some Fruit Loops?

Guerlain+Paradise+Exotique+Eyeshadow+Palette+18

Guerlain+Paradise+Exotique+Eyeshadow+Palette+14

I dunno what it is but the colors in the palette remind me of a bowl of brightly colored fruit loops! Hey, that’s not necessarily a bad thing mind you.

Gorgeous is an understatement when confronting the brand new Guerlain Paradise Exotique EyeShadow Palette released for Spring 2009. The palette consists of three tropical (and fruity) shades and one brown shade thrown in for good measure. Hey, they had to have a little balance in there so brown was suitable for just that. I have a slew of Guerlain special release shadow palettes and I have to say this is quickly becoming a favorite as the shades are just lovely and pretty brilliant for the upcoming Spring season.

The fact that Guerlain manages to bring vibrant shades to a more mature audience definitely appeals. As I get older I’m somehow realizing that I can’t always walk out of the house sporting bold aqua eyeshadow, darn it I don’t want to grow up but this palette honestly makes it easy to wear bolder eye shadows but with a softer finish. The palette consists of lime green, a soft tropical orange, a vibrant yet soft pink, and a rather out of place brown shade. I wasn’t particularly thrilled with the brown but I did acknowledge it as a good liner shade. Pairing up the fun shades in the palette is a blast and they all simply work well together. The green goes fabulously with the orange and the pink brings a little something special the to the green and so on and so fourth. Wear ‘em alone or mix them and match them for a cool tropical look.

The compact itself is a shiny metallic green with a palm and tropical bird design on the cover. It’s a typical classy Guerlain compact with a full size mirror, applicators, and that rather loathsome magnet for fingerprints finish…le sigh. One thing about Guerlain it sure does know how to make a palette that attracts fingerprints in a major way.

Guerlain+Paradise+Exotique+Eyeshadow+Palette+20

Guerlain+Paradise+Exotique+Eyeshadow+Palette+21

The shadows all have the customary silky formula that I’ve come to associate with Guerlain. In simple terms Guerlain shadows just work. They blend beautifully well and leave behind a silky finish that’s flawless. You’ll likely never run across a better shadow that leaves behind such an amazing finish and Guerlain always brings that high quality to the table with it’s eye shadow.

One minor rant would be that the gorgeous palm design on each shadow is an over spray so one swipe of your applicator and it’ll disappear fairly quickly. This is really a pet peeve of mine when it comes to Guerlain but I try to buck up and not cry too much over it however I’d love to see Guerlain maybe work on a better design that’s more deeply embedded into the shadows that will last far longer than after one simple swipe.

At $58 USD sadly, no, the palette is not cheap but for anyone who favors Guerlain it’ll seem like a small chunk of change to lay out for a truly stunning palette. This one is Muse Approved for purchase all the way around! Outstanding and truly beautiful. The Muse loves it!

For my look below I used the lime green as a contrasting shade in my crease and the tropical orange on my lid. I thought it came out kinda fun and it really kept my eyes bright, cheerful, and very awake without drowning them out in a ton of color.

Guerlain Ombre Eclat Eye Shadow Primer Review

If you’re feeling tired of Urban Decay Primer Potion or you just don’t like MAC Paint Pots (like me!) you might want to check out the new Guerlain Ombre Eclat Eyeshadow Primer for your priming needs.

Guerlain+Ombre+Eclat+Eye+Shadow+Primer+1

It’s a bit expensive but well worth your time.

As far as I know this is the first time that Guerlain has ventured into the primer waters. Not many brands jumped on board the eye shadow primer hype prior to Urban Decay’s release of Primer Potion so most people were left using MAC Fluidline or MAC Shadesticks as a prep and prime prior to shadow. Hey, this worked well for years and still does but I won’t say I don’t have some sincerely major love for my Urban Decay Primer Potion.

Upon Guerlain releasing a primer though I did have to try it for myself as I simply adore Guerlain and I suppose with the release of a shadow primer I was expecting the gates of heaven to flood open…most of the time that happens with every Guerlain release that the Muse is privy to so it’s no great surprise that indeed she was touched by an angel after trying out Guerlain Ombre Eclat Eyeshadow Primer.

First of all it’s not comparable to paint pots, nor is it anything like Urban Decay Primer Potion. The formulas are vastly different in my opinion and I will do the comparison babbling for you. Obviously Guerlain Eye Shadow Primer is a nice creamy base which could be compared to MAC Paint Pots however it blends easier, isn’t as thick as a paint pot’s formula, allows better blending for pigments and shadow in my opinion, and intensifies color, all while holding my shadow in place. It’s un-comparable to Urban Decay Primer Potion as well considering it’s a cream base and not as runny a formula as Primer Potion.

Guerlain+Ombre+Eclat+Eye+Shadow+Primer+12

Guerlain Eye Shadow Primer is a nice creamy base that blends easily onto the lid. It comes with it’s own mini brush which honestly I find somewhat useless as I’d rather spread it around with my finger however if you’re a germ-a-phobe (hey the Muse is! No shame in that!) you’ll think the little brush is a life saver. A little bit of product goes a long way at freshening the eye area up a la Benefit Lemon Aid plus prepping for shadow or pigment. It has a hard beige edge which intensifies the color of shadow while it adheres. I don’t think any of my primers successfully intensify a color quite like this does. Greens look brighter, purples look deeper, and it just generally makes my shadow pop a fair bit. I think this has to do with the deeper beige of the product as it darkens shadows a fair bit which I find interesting.

Guerlain+Ombre+Eclat+Eye+Shadow+Primer+13

Guerlain+Ombre+Eclat+Eye+Shadow+Primer+14

I suppose it’s debatable that this could perform the same function as a MAC Paint Pot which is much cheaper but honestly I have no real love for MAC Paint Pots so this is ideal for someone like me who wanted something that was easier to blend and helped my shadow remain creaseless for hours at a time. I like the formula much better when compared to a paint pot.

Overall, I will definitely repurchase when I’m finished with this as it’s superior in terms of keeping my shadow fresh and long wearing plus offering some concealing benefits as well, allowing my lids to look fresher and less dull. It also blends beautifully well which makes application a snap. Well worth trying out if you’re anything like the Muse and not a lover of MAC Paint Pots.

All in all well done on this one Guerlain. The Muse likey!

Spring 2009: Guerlain Exotic Paradise Collection

Guerlain+Exotic+Paradise+Collection

Elegance is always the order of business with Guerlain which in turn has me quite excited about the release of the Guerlain Spring Collection 2009 Exotic Paradise.

I think the main focus of the collection is the new Guerlain Exotic Paradise Eyeshadow Palette. I’m liking the candy green tint to the compact the quad colors look quite friendly as well if not a bit on the Summery side a la Givenchy’s Spring Collection. But that’s ok I can always stash away until June if it fails to work in the Spring!

Guerlain+Spring+Collection+2009+Exotic+Paradise1 Musings+of+a+Muse

I find my purchases from Guerlain are mostly limited to Holiday Collections however this compact may change my mind!

Also being released are new Guerlain Single Eyeshadows available in 10 shades and two new Guerlain Kiss Kiss Lipsticks formulas (one with a matte finish the other with a shimmer.

Guerlain+Spring+Collection+2009+Exotic+Paradise4 Musings+of+a+Muse

And finally a brand new product which is the Guerlain Eyeshadow Primer. I see quite a few brands releasing primers lately so it’s nice to see Guerlain releasing it’s own version. I’m quite curious about this and may purchase it.

Guerlain+Spring+Collection+2009+Exotic+Paradise2 Musings+of+a+Muse

All in all the collection looks rather nice and the temptation of the shadow compact and primer being on my hit list.

What do you think?

Like this collection?

Holding our for something else?
