You ever have those very favorite products that seem so amazing, so great, so incredible that you feel like you couldn’t possibly live without them? Indeed, the Muse knows that feeling well!
Jump ahead for a few Beauty Items that I can’t live without.
Shills BB 6 in 1 BB Cream (review coming sometime soon) is something I can’t possibly live without. It’s one of thee best BB creams I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing! So much so that I’ve forsaken most every other BB Cream in my collection for it. This is love people.
Benefit Coralista omg! I can’t think of three letters that explain how great Coralista is other than O M G. This pigmented peachy powder is my very favorite blush of all time.
On the topic of Benefit let’s not forget the awesomeness that is Thrrrob and my staple product, Benefit Lemon Aid.
I find that lately I can’t live without the very beautiful Ella Dean’s Beautiful Twist Lip Balm in Winter’s Cherry Snow Slushie Kisses. Who doesn’t like slushies? Especially cherry ones! Yum!
Although it’s sticky and tacky and ooey and gooey I probably couldn’t live without Lipstick Queen Shine Gloss. It gives my lips such incredible slippery shine plus it makes them look twice the size! Loves it!
The day NARS Super Orgasm entered my life I think the angel’s sung! What an incredible blush. Needs no commentary from me about it’s awesomeness.
I can’t live without Urban Decay Primer Potion and I don’t want to think about it not being in my life. ’nuff said.
Bobbi Brown Blush in Apricot entered into my collection quite by chance when I happened upon it at my local CCO. Ever after it’s been my staple blush and favorite shade!
Oh Bobbi your name is on my lips today! Let’s not forget how I went from feeling unsure about the Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer palette and quickly having it become a staple product for me. I NEED this in my life.
Shu you know how to treat my lashes right. The cadillac of lash curlers would be my trust Shu Uemura Lash Curler, we be best buds.
Although it’s meant for aging skin I absolutely love Lancome Absolue Makeup. Flawless perfection comes to mind after use!
Another beautiful foundation that graces my daily cosmetic regime would be Lavshuca Creamy Liquid Foundation, we loves each other for about a year now with no end in sight!
Step right up for a Beauty Battle first here at Musings! This is the first time I’ve paired a posh line of cosmetic with a no name e-tailer brand of cosmetic. Is this kind of competition even fair? Probably not but let’s see who can win this Beauty Battle! It’s NARS vs FaceFront, to the death!
Let the battle begin!
Pairing up NARS Blush with FaceFront Cosmetics isn’t exactly a fair fight if we get right down to it but since discovering FaceFront Cosmetics Cheek UP Blush in I’m Faunally Yours I couldn’t help but think what a amazing dupe it was for NARS Angelika. Hmmmm I hear the call of a Beauty Battle!
It deserves to be mentioned the shades are almost identical down to the slight shimmer each contains. The color is a delightful bubblegum pink that gives cheeks a nice flush. Considering the shade is a great dupe we’ll have to compare size, blending skills, packaging, and price.
Weighing in at 42oz in a loose powder form, I’m Faunally Yours is $16 USD. The blush is pigmented, has a nice shimmery finish, and comes in a decent enough packaging but nothing too fancy. It blends beautifully and leaves behind a cool pink color on cheeks that’s quite flattering, flirty, and very girlish. Taking packaging into consideration I’d say it’s a tad on the cheap side but nothing terrible and I’ve seen far worst. Considering what a cult following NARS has it’s difficult to put a small name e-tailer against such a high street brand but we shall see who knocks out who!
Running up on the wings of I’m Faunally Yours is NARS Angelika. All NARS fans agree the packaging does have a certain chic feels but also annoys us a fair bit as well since it quickly becomes a mess. At $25 USD it’s not cheap and it’s no where near the same size as FaceFront Cheek UP with a size of 0.16oz. That small size could throw this battle as honestly we can all agree the better deal lays elsewhere.
Packaging wise neither wins the game that’s for sure! Color wise they are both a winner plus pigmentation, quality of the blush, and ease of blending they both cover that base. The real punch comes from FaceFront Cosmetics Cheek UP’s price tag. At $16 USD for a nice size it’s obviously the better bargain which brings it in for a win here. Sorry NARS, FaceFront has you here! As much of NARS fan girl I am, I do so admit the bargain lays with FaceFront plus it even has a tad more pop than NARS Angelika.
The Muse awards this Beauty Battle to FaceFront Cheek UP Blush, best bargain price and a killer blush with plenty of pop!
Oh hai gorgeous palette from NARS! The Muse isn’t a bride but she can so get on board with your gorgeous Bridal Palette.
The NARS Bridal Palette packs everything the NARS fan or beauty junkie could want into one slim line palette for $65 USD. Likey the price, likey the colors selection, loves it all!
WANT!
You get the following goodness with the NARS Bridal Palette:
For your eyes: Edie, Nepal, Night Fever, and Ondine
For your cheeks: Albatross and Orgasm
For your lips: Mitzi, Baby Doll, Sexual Healing, and Roman Holiday
Knowing how much of a fan girl I am when it comes to NARS you can imagine how hyped I was over the release of a concealer from NARS. Considering NARS has such an incredible line up it’s always put this Muse in a state of shock that such an extensive line of product only ever included a simple stick concealer. Stick concealer? What is this 1960? Of course NARS more than makes up for it’s lack of coverage by bringing out uber fabulous shadows and blushes but the Muse was always feeling a bit empty inside without a super amazing concealer to go along with all those other great beauty bits and bobs from our friends at NARS.
To my delight with the Spring Collection 2009 a brand new NARS Duo Concealer was released! Whoa, likey!
I can go for this. Jump ahead to see if I’m loving NARS Duo Concealer!
The Muse is never one for beating around the bush when it comes to something she really, really loves or something she strongly dislikes. In this case she’s feeling utterly devastated how much she didn’t like it this new NARS concealer. Le sigh.
The duo concealer is made up of two shades for mixing and combining your perfect color combination. I honestly thought these were going to be a creamy, dreamy moisturizing formula…um not so much. It deserves to be mentioned that the product has serious raves on Sephora. For me that’s rather puzzling as I didn’t find much at all to rave about but I did read through each review diligently because I wanted to see what it was that was so exciting about this concealer.
Main problem is the formula and second problem is pigmentation. The formula is a thin consistency that’s very hard for lack of a better word, so much so that it makes blending an absolute nightmare. Coverage is extremely sheer so don’t expect to cover up much with this in regards to dark circles, fine lines, etc…it’s merely a very lightweight coverage that blends like utter rubbish and proceeds to dry out your skin and settle badly into fine lines.
I did notice most of those who reviewed the product on Sephora were in their teens or twenties. Perhaps the Muse is simply an old lady with too much to cover. I personally wouldn’t indulge if you have dark circles, fine lines, or puffiness, generally speaking if you have a whole lot of stuffins going on under your eyes don’t think NARS Duo Concealer is going to cover it.
If you desire a light weight coverage and like concealers that aren’t thick, creamy, or moisturizing but simply light and a bit hard in texture this might very well be something you love.
As for this Muse she’s terribly disappointed and will hold out hope that maybe NARS will go ahead and release a click pen concealer in the future or a more moisturizing concealer. Until than this Muse is sticking with Bobbi Brown and Mally Beauty for her concealing needs.
Can never get enough of David Bowie or the new NARS Modern Love Palette available exclusively from Nordies in May!
Loves it!
The Muse has a special place in her heart for NARS palettes as they pack such a wallop in one slim case. Enjoy six shades of NARS shadow in a slick, slimline case for $50 USD.
The NARS Modern Love Palette includes the following shades:
Alhambra Metallic Rose Mist
Jezebel Shimmering Sable
India Song Shimmering Walnut
Tokyo Soft Silver White
Habanera Sparkling Charcoal Plum
Loves it NARS, I think it wants to come home with me tonight!
NARS is pretty expensive and I always wince somewhat when purchasing a shadow (‘elllllllllo $22 less the richer) or a blush (buy-bye $25!).
Today’s beauty news brings word of NARS on HSN….hello easy pay and free shipping!
This is news to me as I hadn’t known that NARS was being sold on HSN. It’s likely part of HSN’s deal with Sephora as HSN has begun to carry more and more of the brands from Sephora as you may have already noticed. I can so deal with Free Shipping on NARS plus they offer easy pay options.
Minor rant, the catalog features four items…sheesh but maybe given time we’ll see more!
At the moment they have the NARS Dolce Vita Kit for $50 bucks on two easy payments of $25 each plus Free Shipping, that’s what I’m talkin’ about! They also have a trio of lip pencils for $45, again on easy pay plus free shipping.
I’m not feeling nearly as guilty indulging in NARS with an easy pay option and free shipping. Now, HSN, please can you bring in the full catalog of NARS so we can get our fix?
NARS Summer 2009 is already available for purchase at www.narscosmetics.com Mmm indeed just turned Spring and on to Summer so soon NARS? Oh well we lurve you anyway!

Overall, I’d say NARS has a nice little line up for Summer. I’m wanting Tropic Eyeshadow, Scorching Sun Duo, and possibly Outsider Lipstick.
Pitting NARS Super Orgasm against Benefit Coralista could cause for an interesting fight dontcha think?
Some fans of both are fond of saying how similar the two are but the question is if NARS Super Orgasm went up against Benefit Coralista who would win?
Jump ahead to find out!
Let the Beauty Battle begin!!!!!!!
Now NARS Super Orgasm is considerably more pricey when compared to it’s contender. Coralista is 0.42oz and has a $28 USD price tag. That’s nearly double the product for $3 USD more. Uh oh NARS, Benefit could be beating you out when it comes to price and size.
I hear tales of woe when it comes to Super Orgasm how glittery and shimmery it is, what a mess it is, etc…but the Muse thinks these are all blasphemy! Super Orgasm is much more pigmented when compared to it’s sister color, Orgasm. And yes it does have a whole lot of shimmer going on and chunks of gold glitter however it blends out to a nice satin finish minus any crazy shimmer. The shade is a glowing peach that’s simply stunning to say the very least! Uh oh Coalista look out Super Orgasm is creeping up on you here!
Now Coralista is undoubtedly the better deal of the two products. Nearly double the size of Super Orgasm with a price tag of merely $3 USD more makes it a considerably better option when it comes the quantity but what about quality?
Smelling like a sweet tropical peach sporting some seriously cute packaging and having amazing color pay off all make Benefit Coralista an incredible blush! The Muse is fond of telling everyone and anyone that will listen that it’s one of Benefit’s crowning jewels! Truly a great powder.
And the fight begins…..
NARS Super Orgasm starts off with a pop of peach, a hefty price tag, but little weight to back itself up! Benefit Coralista throws the first punch with a crazy peachy finish, a price tag to please, and enough weight to sink a heavy punch into Super Orgasm’s face!
And the winner is….
Oh please jebus don’t make me choose between two of my very favorite blushes! Ugh it’s so hard!
It’s difficult to choose between these two incredible products! Both are simply amazing to say the least but if I’m honest with myself Benefit Coralista has the better color pay off, the most bang for my buck, plus who can resist a blush scented like a tropical peach? Actually in the end the peach scent threw the fight and made Benefit Coralista our winner!
So tell me….
Who’s your winner?
Is NARS Super Orgasm the best girl for the job?
Or do you favor Benefit Coralista?
Tell the Muse!
Still not convinced Coralista is a winner? Check out both my reviews of NARS Super Orgasm and Benefit Coralista to make your final choice!
The Muse knows she’s not alone in thinking that their is something so very wonderful about lipgloss!

NARS Spring Collection 2009 had my heart pounding in excitement and I was quite hyper to get my greedy hands all over it!
I have a few pieces of the collection to share with you today and I can’t wait to hear what you think of this exciting Spring Collection!

I should mention that above anything else I’m really, really, really want to try out the new NARS Duo Concealer in a major way. Hopefully I’ll bring you a review of that soon.
Today I have NARS Eyeshadow Duo in Hula Hula to show you and two of the new NARS Single Shadows in Night Sun and Baby Girl. I haven’t yet had a chance to do FOTD’s with these and normally, you know the Muse, I like to include my FOTD’s with all my reviews but I was so excited to finally have pieces from NARS Spring 2009 in my hands that I just felt like sharing right away. I’ll work on FOTD’s soon so expect them to be posted sometime next week.
The new NARS Eyeshadow Duo in Hula Hula is, in my opinion, the best of the two new duos released. It has two shades of shimmering shadow that will make up a rather nice, natural bronzy pink look. I’ll use Sephora’s description for the two shades as they made it sound heavenly. The first shade in the duo is a frosty strawberry with fine gold shimmer (yum right?) and the second is a hazelnut with golden shimmer. The two shadows contrast wonderfully well and I think they’ll make a fine Spring look that’ll work well into Summer!
Although it’s not pimped in the promo image NARS released a new single eyeshadow shade in Night Sun. It deserves to be mentioned that all of the NARS “night” series shadows are always something special and Night Sun is no different in that aspect. It’s a bright true yellow shade with plenty of gold sparkle which will be ideal for pairing up with red, orange, or other warmer shades. Of course, by itself it looks stunning as well. Think MAC Pigment in Golden Lemon and you’ll pretty much have a great dupe (in press format) with NARS Night Sun. Gorgeous and I’m sure a favorite soon.
Finally I got NARS single shadow in Baby Girl. Baby Girl a nice, soft baby pink with soft golden shimmers. It’s quite a sheer shade but for lightening up the eye area it’s ideal.
So far, NARS Spring Collection 2009 is shaping up quite nicely and I look forward to exploring it further (especially that concealer). NARS rarely disappoints and Spring ’09 is far from disappointing! Fab job NARS the Muse loves it so far!
How about you?
Loving NARS Spring Collection?
Which pieces have you through about hauling?
Tell the Muse!
The entire Spring Collection is up and available for purchase @ www.narscosmetics.com
It’s been a few days since we Muse’d together hasn’t it?
Oh I forgot to mention….you can’t say MAC Hello Kitty!
hehe! I’m evil.
So what’s mine? Easy. I’m looking forward to NARS Spring Collection 2009 in a major way! Although I was disappointed that the Grenadines is a matte shadow but I’m still hyped about the other single shadows being introduced! I was also quite excited about the concealer palette which I’m simply gagging to try!
All in all a really great round up of products from NARS and I’m very excited about it and will be bringing you swatches and a review shortly!
So what are you excited about for Spring ’09? Remember no Hello Kitty hehe!
