Since Lavshuca Fall Collection for 2008 failed to impressed me this year I actually avoided purchasing anything aside from one lonely lipstick.

If you’re not in the know Lavshuca released a full size lipstick this season entitled Rouge Star Classic. I believe this is the first time Lavshuca has ventured into doing a full size lipstick so it definately had me wanting to try it.

It’s mmm…ok…nothing to write home.

It got mine in the color RD-2 and I’m particularly glad I only got one color because the formula isn’t excactly fantastic. It sports an identical formula as the regular mini-size Jewel Lips which honestly I do adore however I’m not completely in love with the texture on either the Jewel Lips or the Rouge Star Classic.

The formula is slightly gritty and although they promise to be major moisturizing and contain “moisture wrapping oil” whatever the hell that is, I fail to see any of that during application. They glide on well enough with a very slight gritty feel but I’ve just tried better. I think I might have fell out of love with Lavshuca’s lippie selection when I discovered much better Japanese lipstick options.

RD-2 is a deeper pink shades with a bit of a red tinge and fine gold shimmer. It looks quite classical on the lips but this fails to redeem the crummy texture and formula of the actual product. Props goes to the packaging for the interesting slim line tube that matches with the newer Lavshuca packaging.

14 shades are available of this new line but I don’t see myself indulging in anymore than this one. The novelty of Jewel Lips is most definately the size which is why I own so many however Rouge Star Classic has nothing special to offer and is just a mediocre lipstick. For a few dollars more you can get yourself one of Urban Decay’s outstanding lipsticks. Each lipstick retails for 1,575 yen.

The Muse enjoyed the packaging, liked trying this out, but definately will not indulge in further colors. Cute but fails to hold my interest!

correct me if I’m wrong but until now I’ve never seen a foundation release from Lavshuca in a tube. With the Fall Collection Lavshuca released a brand new foundation available in five shades with SPF 25 and it’s great, you need it.

Considering I felt like the Fall Collection was very disappointing the fact that the foundation is simply awesome redeems Lavshuca’s terrible mistake with the new eye palettes! Sorry kids, just can’t love the new palettes and I didn’t indulge! I’ll hold out for the Holiday Collection.

Lavshuca Creamy Liquid Foundation is extremely tiny! Indeed, major rant, there is simply not enough of this fine foundation in the tube! The tube is 25g which averages about .75oz or so…a little bit more but the fact still remains it’s tiny!

Have you ever purchased a foundation this small before? I honestly can’t say I have. I did the comparisons below and showed the tube along side a small Prescriptives concealer and a MAC lipstick as you can see the tube of foundation isn’t much bigger than either one. It’s rather disappointing that it’s so tiny! I’ll obviously need to stock up this!

Aside from the size the foundation is brilliant. I will redeem my minor rant by saying that the formula is very pigmented so a little bit goes a very long way which means a tiny tube should last you quite a long time but still I can’t help feeling disappointed it’s so small!

The formula’s best feature isn’t only the fact it’s extremely pigmented! It also happens to be extra creamy, every smooth, easy to blend, and wonderfully moisturizing. It just gets better and better doesn’t it! All this for a drugstore brand…dontcha just love the Japanese? Only they could squeeze all those benefits into one tube, slap it onto a drugstore shelf, and sell it like it’s posh counter cosmetic!

The formula is obviously waterproof because as you blend you can feel a strange but not unpleasant silicon-like dry down. I got about eight hours of wear before I needed touching up. The foundation did not cake, crease, or turn ashy or gray after long wear on my face it simply blended into my skin perfectly while allowing my skin to breath. It’s not what I’d classify as a light foundation but it’s not heavy either. I think it’s safe to say it should work on normal, dry, and oily skin without problem because it seemed quite universally suitable for all skin types.

The applicator is a very thin nozzle which makes it great for quickly squeezing out a small amount. The tube also matches anything else you might have in your Lavshuca stash with it’s lovely deep aubergine packaging and silver scripted Lavshuca emblem. It’s a very elegant little tube.

Although color selection is limited to five shades but it appears it’s a good selection of colors for tones ranging from light to medium but nothing suitable for very dark tones. If you’re a milky caramel or have a cinnamon finish to your skin you might be able to get away with either the colors OC-D or Beige C. These two shades look good for those tones. The tone I purchased was OC-B which is the lightest shade.

The shades do have a certain amount of beige and yellow to counteract any yellow tones in the skin but it’s definately something you’ll have to swatch in order to figure out the best available shade. I just winged mine and prayed.

I paid retail which was probably under 1,500 yen. I’m not even sure of the exact price at retail as I had a friend purchase a ton of stuff for me and I didn’t ask after prices on each item.

I have seen the tubes online at the original retail minus the 20% off must Japanese drugstores give you. Honestly, the original price of 1,990 yen is still a very good deal even though the size is small so I highly recommend nabbing one and trying it out for yourself as the foundation is holy grail material.

I’m not sure if I should be relieved or disappointed that most of the Japanese Fall Collections are turning out to be a snore this year.

One collection in particular that’s a devastating disappointment is Lavshuca’s Fall Collection. Yet again Lavshuca decided to revamp it’s eye shadow palettes with an array of rather boring shades. I thought I had all I could take with the Lavshuca Noble On palettes released for Spring but now I have another weak assemble of strange duo shadow palettes to contend with.

I feel like Lavshuca is trying just a little too hard lately. The original palettes released were such a gorgeous array of shimmering shades that just worked but lately each new design and color releases seem to be rushed with little thought. The only redeeming collection from Lavshuca in a while now would be the Summer palettes which I will be reviewing shortly.

These shades just look strange to my eye and I’m debating with myself fiercely whether I should be indulging or not. Sometimes cosmetics remind me of a great author. I’m a big reader and I love many fine authors. I find myself buying a new book release from an author that I know has long since lost it in the hopes of gathering that special feeling I felt the first time I read a book by that writer. And so it goes for cosmetics as well! For the sake of collecting I find myself picking up various pieces from collections even though I know they won’t be as great as they were the first time I was lured in by their brilliance.

In this case I’m wondering if I’ve learned my lessons when I purchased all the Lavshuca Noble On palette releases!

These could very well turn out to be amazingly good but for once I think I’ll sit back and wait for a review prior to being the “first kid on the block” to purchase them!

I’ll keep hope alive that the Lavshuca Winter/Holiday releases hold a special magic that the Fall releases have failed to give me!

Lavshuca has updated it’s website with the Summer Collection!

It appears this Summer they are releasing two new palettes similar in style to the Holiday Palettes however these appear far better quality. Each palette seems to hold six eyeshadow shades. These come in two variations a cooler version which include blues, silvers, and greens and a warmer version which include golds, browns, and beiges. Both look simply gorgeous. Although I am missing the normal style of palettes released from Lavshuca I’m really not minding these at all! They are most definately in my cart for purchase when they are released!

The Holiday Palettes were made of cardboard and these appear to be made of either plastic or metal (I’d say plastic) which is nice as I found the Holiday Palettes a bit delicate!

I’m unsure of the price at this point as Kanebo has not yet updated the catalog with the info but as soon as I know I’ll pass it on to you!

I can’t wait to get my hands on these! These are simply beautiful and I’m positive if you’re a Lavshuca fan you’ll want them as much as me!
