Is it me or do you love to hate sticky, tacky, thick lip glosses? The Muse remembers her first experience with a MAC Lipglass, she was positive it would end up in the trash after seconds of using it. But slowly, ever so slowly it grew on her and so her love affair began with really thick, really sticky, and really tacky lipglosses.
Beaute Luminous Volume Gloss doesn’t disappoint in any of those areas. Plenty of tack, plenty of stick, and a formula thick enough to make the thinnest of lips Angelina Jolie gorgeous.
Available in 12 shades Beaute Luminous Volume Gloss adds plenty of plump to lips with an extra shiny, glossy finish, and plenty of pigmentation that you can use them with (or if you please, without) your favorite lipstick.
As I mentioned above these have plenty of stick and tack which is essential to keeping gloss in place all day long. The wear on these is incredible so you can sip your cuppa, enjoy your lunch, and kiss your boyfriend and the Muse imagines the bulletproof formula will stay in place pretty much after all that and possibly after an atomic bomb goes off.
The formula is extremely thick, very moisturizing, and has plenty of pigmentation to work as a shiny lip cream. Most of the shades are matte and shimmer-less with a nude finish. If you’re a fan of a nude lip look you’ll love the shades I have swatches of.
The gloss is a plumping gloss but not in the classical sense that we are currently privy to on the market today. It doesn’t burn, doesn’t sting, doesn’t have a cinnamon flavor or any flavor at all for that matter. The gloss uses tiny dehydrated marine collagen mirco spheres to create the plumped lip look. You’ll experience none of the normal plumping gloss symptoms, this will simply feel like another gloss on your lips. The lack of burning and stinging will make many of you happy that finally a plumping gloss without the sting!
The glosses are $26 USD each and it could be a tad on the expensive side for some but you do get a rather large size for the price plus a little bit goes a very long way. The applicator is a brush, thank gawd, which I was delighted didn’t split after a few uses or even after the first use like most lip brushes do. They have a trio of glosses available for $65 USD if you become a hardcore fan that could save a few dollars or two. The shades I tried were Medusa (nude pink beige), Girlie Show (pure pale pink), and Chimera (iridescent bronze pink).
All in all Beaute Cosmetics continues to impress me with their interesting collection of cosmetic goodness. I’d love to see them do these with a tiny bit more shimmer. If you’re looking for a gloss with great staying power, a good plumping action, and plenty of pigment you’re bound to love Beaute Luminous Volume Gloss but don’t take the Muse’s word for it check out the raves on MUA.
The Muse likes a good challenge and what better way to challenge one self than with beauty? Right? Right.
As Summer approaches the Muse pictures all her beauty junkies scrambling around for that perfect pop of sizzling color that will make one’s makeup Summer ready. In my quest for the perfect shades for Summer I came across the brand new L’Oreal Bronze Gone Brazen Collection.
You know your Muse she’s not much for cheap drugstore cosmetics but she was up for a challenge when she seen this new collection. Gathering up three of the items released with the L’Oreal Bronze Gone Brazen Collection the Muse set out to do a cheap beauty look that would hopefully get her by this Summer. She was prepared for the worst….
And she got, surprisingly, the best…
The beauty challenge consists of just the basics which would be point makeup only. Base makeup items are left out of this challenge simply because a majority of us already have our base items handy and no reason to bring them into the challenge. The point makeup items are focused on lips, eyes, and cheeks. During the challenge you’ll also be privy to my review of L’Oreal Glam Bronze Radian Bronzing Duo, L’Oreal Colour Rich Lipgloss, and L’Oreal Wear Infinite Eyeshadow Quad.
The Muse slapped together one of her favorite Summer bronze looks for this season which included Urban Decay Baked Eyeshadow, MAC Lipglass in Pink Grapefruit, and Dior Bronze Harmonie de Blush. The look brings together everything I love about Summer makeup. Fresh peachy cheeks with a tiny hint of bronze, sizzling lips, and gorgeous shimmering lids. The look set me back $72 USD which is without tax. Quite costly. The Muse is never afraid of gorgeous, posh makeup but $72 USD in this economy could make a person wince.
Setting out to make an equally fabulous bronze look for Summer the Muse hauled off to the drugstore which is where she discovered the brand new Summer Collection for L’Oreal entitled Bronze Gone Brazen. Although not identical to items used in my Posh Bronze Look, the look I did achieve was just as pretty plus very practical price wise. Since L’Oreal was buy one, get one 50% off I saved a little bit of cash on items I purchased. My total look cost me $24 USD and some change. That includes tax as well so obviously a considerably better deal than $72 USD. I imagine if I headed to Walmart I’d have gotten a much better deal but honestly $24 bucks not bad all in all.
For my cheeks:
I started my look by sweeping L’oreal Glam Bronze Radiant Bronzing Duo across my cheeks and forehead. The bronzer consists of a beigey bronze and a darker brown bronze. The colors aren’t particularly flattering so the Muse cheated a little bit by using a tiny bit of Lipstick Queen Oxymoron Matte Gloss on her cheeks. I always find that stain under muddy bronzers makes it much more wearable and pretty. The duo was quite silky and blended easily but I wasn’t particularly loving that it was matte. Although I do so admit that it’s a good deal if you don’t mind matte bronzers.
For my eyes:
To get bit of a sizzling look to my eyes I used the L’Oreal Wear Infinite Eyeshadow Quad. This is a good, solid deal as it contains four shimmering shades that are very flattering for Summer wear. The shades have just the right amount of metallic shimmer, are quite pigmented, blend easily, and create a very nice look combined or worn alone. This is my first experience with a L’Oreal quad and it was quite a enlightening one as I was shocked how good the palette was. Shades included are a pale beige cream, a metallic bronze, a shimmering copper, and a darker almost matte satin brown. For my look I used the metallic bronze on my lid, contrasted my crease with the copper, and used the creamy beige as a highbrow highlighter. I could have added further contrast by using the deeper brown in the v of my eye but I wanted the look to be more of a heated Summer look and adding the brown would have washed it out a fair bit.
For my lips:
To complete my look I used L’Oreal Colour Rich Lipgloss in Safari Sunset on my lips. This shade is limited edition so best get it while the getting is good. Loved the formula. It’s not incredibly long wearing but I liked how pigmented it was, gave a hint of shine, and wasn’t sticky or tacky on my lips. It’s a shimmery copper that’s very flattering and pretty on my lips. The gloss is almost like a lip cream but a far thinner consistency.
Completed Cheap Beauty Challenge Look:
Obviously L’Oreal Bronze Gone Brazen Collection made it easy to cheap up my Summer beauty regime. I think the shadow quad and lipgloss are well worth indulging in. As for the bronzer I’m unsure if I love it simply because I’m not much of a bronzer fan but it appears to be quite a good one as far as blending goes, pigmentation, and texture.
If you’re looking to cheap up your Summer look check the collection out. Def a great cheap beauty challenge that turned out rather well!
With the Summer coming at us full speed ahead, I’m sure we are all thinking about how best to minimize our makeup. Lighter makeup is always the order of business as the hot weather approaches and what better way to keep it fresh than with the new Bobbi Brown Nautical Collection releasing this May!
The Muse arranged for a little sneak peek of this collection so jump ahead for a peep!
Available in six shades Bobbi Brown Sheer Color Cheek Tint are chubby, travel friendly tubes of pigmented cheek color that glide on quickly and leave behind a glow of color. At $22 USD I wasn’t so sure on the price of these since they are half the size of a normal stick blush plus Bobbi Brown Rouge is $22 per a pot…you can see my dilemma here probably. Aside from the rant about it’s size I do think it’s a rather great little product plus I like how travel friendly it is and in a way I do like the size as I’ll run through it quickly rather than have it sit around for months because it’s just TOO much product.
The colors I tried were Sheer Pink and Sheer Coral. Sheer Coral is gorgeous and Orgasm-like shade, very peachy and pretty. Sheer Pink is a pretty sheer pink that gives a nice fresh glow. Both shades allow for sheer or bolder application. I didn’t find that these lasted as long as the potted rouge so reapplication was necessary after around 5 hours of wear.
All in all I like these alot for traveling and do like that they are tiny simply because I have plenty of product to get through. If you’re looking for nice, healthy color that’s light and fresh for the warmer weather, these make a great treat!
Also releasing with Bobbi Brown Nautical Collection is the new Bobbi Brown Sheer Color Gloss in four shades. I only have one of the four colors and I must pick up the other three as they are rather fantastic. At first glance of the promo photos I was thinking these were a lip stain. They aren’t a stain but a rather nice tacky, glossy, natural looking gloss that makes lips look quite fresh and sexy. The gloss is sheer with a tiny bit of color. It’s sticky enough to wear quite long and it goes rather nicely with the cheek tints to create a very natural, fresh look. I tried the shade Popsicle which is a very sheer pink. I liked the gloss alot and I looking forward to picking up the other shades when they are available in store.
The Bobbi Brown Nautical Collection keeps beauty natural and fresh this Summer. If you like a barely there face this collection is sure to please. I loved the FOTD’s I did for them as I thought I looked younger, fresher, and very natural using the products in the collection. Quite nice of you’re a fan of the minimal makeup look.
Oh baby the Muse was busy visiting the jungle. Ok, so maybe that isn’t true it probably wasn’t the jungle but my bathroom vanity. Hey, it’s a jungle in there too sometimes with products all over the place so I firgure it qualifies!
Anyway! Speaking of jungles I was visiting one with the new Smashbox Untamed Collection rawrrrrr baby!
Jump ahead for the goods!
Although Smashbox Untamed reminds me of a Fall Collection, I’m still feeling a bit of love for it. The Muse guesses that after two years of blogging beauty that she has to realize that sometimes brands will release really weird shade selections during the Summer, in this case weird for me would be smoky, exotic eyes that look more suitable for Fall than Summer. But I’m at peace with that and I can dig it. The Muse thinks she’s hip enough to pull off sexy, smoky eyes in the Summer….yeah, sure, sure. I’ve already told you the good word of Smashbox Untamed but if you haven’t familiarized yourself with the collection you can check it here. I tried out Smashbox Untamed Waterproof Shadow Liner Trio in Savage and Smashbox Untamed Lip Gloss in Raw.
Smashbox Untamed Waterproof Shadow Liner Trio multitasks as a liner and a shadow. Ok, waterproof I’m not really buying that as these are super creamy. Long wearing yes when your eye is prepped and primed well but not waterproof I don’t think? They seem a bit too creamy to suffer through some swimming say. The trio contains, yes you guessed it, three shadows. The colors are a golden olive, a bronze brown, and a neutral beige. The shades go well together which is always delightful as sometimes trios or palettes contain wonky colors that don’t go well together but these three just go well together. The formula is quite nice as both a shadow and a liner but they are very sheer so you do have to layer a good deal to get a good pop of color. The colors are very subtle so if you like a lighter makeup this should be quite a pleasure but if you’re in it for a pigmented, bolder look this won’t do. I got decent color payoff with a few layers but honestly nothing major dramatic. I did love how easily these blended and they’ll make a killer base for shadows. If I’m wanting a light, no nonsense makeup they are ideal. The compact has a flip top lid to keep the shadows nice and fresh and mess free. I know everyone wasn’t particularly excited about the packaging but I think it’s nice. I’m digging the “jungle” theme hehe!
I also got Smashbox Untamed Lip Gloss in Raw which is a nice sheer red brown. Quite a nice color, very sophisticated and grown up for the Muse. It matches up nicely with the Savage Trio as well. The gloss is nicely pigmented although not super duper glossy but I find that’s the standard with Smashbox glosses.
If you’re seeking nice work friendly makeup with a tiny bit of an edge I think you might like some of what Smashbox Untamed offers. It doesn’t shout Summer to me but maybe with a hint of a tan you could rock that wild jungle look.
I created two looks using the palette. My first look I used the green on my lid and the lighter beige as a highbrow highlighter. My second look I used the brown on my lid and the lighter beige as a highbrow highlighter. I’ll try and get a post up shortly of a look created using all three shades as they work rather well together. And yes that’s Raw on my lips in both pictures.
I’m thinking that there is always a good excuse to play Sammy Hagar…he’s like the perfect introduction to my Rock & Republic Eye Colour Trip Review.
Whatta ya think?
“Header bangs in leather……….!” \m/ Yeah well you’re either as old as I am and a lover of good metal or just not a Sammy kinda girl. Sorry!
I gotta say that the evolution of Sammy doesn’t please as much as Sammy circa 1981…must be something to do with his lack of hair. WTH? Oh why oh do we have to grow up and get old? No fair.
Anyway….Rock & Republic probably didn’t mean for it to strike my heavy metal nerve but it does none the less. With it’s uber slick packaging, extremely heavy packaging might I add, and gorgeous shades for a smoky rockin’ eye look it’s sure to please anyone that likes a bit of edge with their makeup!
If I was feeling so inclined I deem the Rock & Republic Eye Colour Trio a perfectly pretty paperweight for my desk! Damn this thing is HEAVY! Talk about attention to packaging detail! This has luxury written all over it. It’s super slim and made out of a heavy black metal with the Rock & Republic emblem embossed on top in a blaze of chic. I can’t say, out of all my collection, that I own anything like this palette. The packaging is outstanding.
I tried out the Rock & Republic Colour Eye Trio in Scene 1 and it’s making me want to splurge on Scene 2, hey what’s one scene without the other right? Although expensive at $65 USD rest assured your money is being well spent on a quality palette. I think $65 was probably the cost of the palette alone and not the color within, did I mention how heavy this is?
The palette is made up of three shades of velvety smooth shadow. I’m not a fan of velvet shadows but these have a smooth, easy to blend formula and create a gorgeous smoky look that’s sure to please anyone who likes a bit edge to their makeup or a certain sophistication.
The colors included are:
Each of the shades are available as single shadows for $28 USD each so buying the palette is actually a good deal. Chain Link is a soft sheer gray, Nailed is a deeper black gray, and Tempting is a muted mauve, lilac. The shades are gorgeous on their own or combined to create a killer look. I created two looks below using Chain Link and Nailed together and Tempting on it’s own.
Here’s a look I created using Tempting:
The look below was created using Nailed and Chain Link:
Overall, the palette does make one wince at it’s price but after experiencing it for yourself, you’ll be as addicted as I am. Truly the line is luxury cosmetic at it’s best. It’s a rare and genius collection in my opinion and I look forward to indulging further. Sometimes we need a little champagne and caviar in our life and Rock & Republic brings it.
