Check out what I think after the jump!

I showered a whole lot of love on the Victoria’s Secret Pool Party Collection when I seen it in stores. The Muse cannot hold out against VS makeup goodies very long. I’d have normally left the glosses in all honesty but something tempted me that day. Could be the allure of a tasty gloss, could be the bright popping colors, could be I was just weak that day. Whatever the case may be I ended up getting two of the three shades available (who knows I’d probably gotten three if the other shade was available at the time). Now, one thing I should mention, I was mistakenly thinking these were glosses but actually they are lip butter. Oh, ok, big difference!

I was kinda juiced at such popping shades in a gloss but as I mentioned, lip butter, big difference eep! No likey the texture or formula on my lips. Feels a tad bit on the silicone side and kinda waxy-like. Mmmm…not loving it sadly! I’m wearing Frostea (orange shade) in my FOTD here if you’d like to see what they look like on.

Aside from the undesirable formula these hold a bit of appeal as they are tasty. I got Frostea and Lemonita. Frostea tastes like iced tea and is a bright popping orange shade where as Lemonita is a tart, fruity lemon and a shade of sizzling pink. Both have decent pigmentation so you can get away without using a lipstick or stain underneath as they do leave a hint of sheer color behind.

Taste is great (love flavored lip products), price isn’t bad at 3 for $15, and the colors are pretty sweet for Summer plus these contain SPF 15. They definitely have a bit of a good thing going for them now I just need to get over the idea that they aren’t a gloss but a butter aka waxy, silicon feeling on my lips, yak! If I can get past that I might be able to recommend ‘em for purchase.

Cute but longing for a better formula here.

Sneak Peek: MAC Naked Honey Collection Review, Swatches, and First Impressions

As June quickly approaches so does the release of MAC Naked Honey, an exciting new, buzz worthy (get it? buzz! I’m such a damn comedian aren’t I?) collection. I’m always quite the little fan girl for MAC Summer Collections and so far I am loving
all I have seen from both MAC Naked Honey and MAC Style Warriors.

I’ll be giving you a very brief sneaky peek from MAC Naked Honey after the jump!

With plenty of golds and bronze on the menu MAC Naked Honey is most definitely Summer-worthy cosmetic goodness. It is a small amount of color in this collection thought and most of the release concentrating on plenty of interesting body care items such as shower gels, lotions, potions, etc….

I did a quickie look yesterday using three items from the MAC Naked Honey launch that I got to test out. So far I like what I see. I tried out MAC High-light Powder in Golden Nectar, MAC Lipglass in Buzz, and MAC Eye Shadow in Creme de Miel.

Two MAC High-Light Powders are being released, Golden Nectar being the darker shade of the two. Regardless if it’s dark or not it was flattering on me. You can easily double this up as a contouring tool if you desire and even a bronzer if you want. It’s a deep, bronze shade with a hint of golden shimmer. Sadly thought the golden shimmer is only an over spray and for the most part the powder did apply matte to my cheeks. This wasn’t necessarily a bad thing as I did like the way it looked on. I used it as a blush/bronzer combo on my cheeks in the below picture.

Three MAC Lipglasses shades will release with MAC Naked Honey one of which I tried was Buzz. Another fine Summer shade as it’s a dark copper that hints at being almost brown, very nice when paired up with Golden Nectar.

And finally I tried out MAC Eyeshadow in Creme De Miel which is a velvety gold shade. This applies a tad chalky but for the most part it blends out nicely and can be paired with fabulous coppery, bronze looks. Below I used it on it’s own on my lids.

Overall, I like what I’ve seen so far from MAC Naked Honey and I look forward to testing out the rest to see what I’ll haul from this collection.

What do you think so far of MAC Naked Honey?

Wanting Naked Honey?

Maybe you’re lemming Style Warriors more?

Urban Decay Summer 2009: Urban Decay Midnight Cowboy Shimmer Lotion Review & Swatches

Urban Decay Midnight Cowboy is possibly my favorite shadow of all time which is why I’m always excited when they introduce it in different formats. A new shade of it, in glitter liner format, in a lipstick, etc….

To put a twist on my Summer, Urban Decay has introduced my favorite shadow shade into a lotion. Oh. my. god. Loves it!

Jump ahead to hear me squeal about the joys of Urban Decay Midnight Cowboy Body Shimmer Lotion.

Urban Decay you cheeky little monkey! You know just how to make a girl squeal like a little girl on Christmas morning. Meet Urban Decay Midnight Cowboy Body Shimmer Lotion:

Hello lover!

Ok, let me tell you a secret. The Muse wasn’t paying attention the first time she got the good word of this lotion and for some odd reason she was under the impression it was a tiny bottle, like maybe, I dunno, 2 oz in size or less. I dunno why I was thinking that. Doh!

It’s actually a whopping 7oz! It’s a big bottle! Likey! Enough lotion in here to get you through Summer without probs but the Muse thinks you’d best stock up anyway as hey, you can never have too much shimmer in your life.

First off we need sniff-o-vision around here because I’m sincerely dying for you to take a whiff of this if you haven’t already. It’s tropical, coconut gorgeousness. Think of tanning oil but with a softer edge. Beautiful, glorious scent! They call the scent milk and honey I call it hot Summer night!

Now the formula is a super light, paraben-free, fast absorbing lotion that leaves skin with a delicate veil of golden shimmer. I thought the sparkle was very subtle, very pretty, and perfectly golden. If you’re a huge fan of shimmering lotions but aren’t always thrilled with the overkill of sparkle this is sure to please as it’s very sheer. It’ll look glorious on a tan that’s for sure. Use it on legs, arms, shoulders, wherever you want a golden sparkling sheen of Midnight Cowboy.

All this Muse can say is ride ‘em cowboy!

Loves it!

Total Muse Approval for purchase. You needs it, ’nuff said.

Product Musings: Face Stockholm Eye Dust in Vanity

musings

Musings all about Face Stockholm Eye Dust in Vanity which the Muse is loving all over at the moment. It’s a peach sparkly concoction that’s rather ideal for Summer eye looks. I think it flatters nice flushed peach cheeks and will pair up quite nicely with my Dior Bronze Harmonie de Blush.

Face+Stockholm+Eye+Dust+4

I’m kinda feeling peaches and bronze looks this Summer rather than my normal run of aquas and cooler blue shades.

What are you loving for your Summer eye looks?

By Lauren Luke My Luscious Greens Palette Review and Swatches

I got my By Lauren Luke Luscious Greens Palette last week! Squee! Very exciting as I was quite hyped to try this out. I spoke a little about Lauren several days ago do check that out here.

Jump ahead for the review!

One minor tiny rant before I get on with the review. They failed to include a tutorial with the palette. Lauren has the tutorial up on youTube which is great but I’d have loved if they included a little card with the palette explaining how to achieve the look. Ideally I’d love a little CD with her tutorial on it but that would probably cost quite a good deal more money however a small card would be appreciated. Aside from this the palette is pretty much ace with me.

The packaging of the palette is delightful. It’s a large size palette with a full size mirror that contains two shadow primers, three shadows, two lip colors, one eyeliner and one blush. The palette is $34 USD which is a decent price for a palette of this size. The palette is slim, black, and simple with a pretty flower motif on the front and a tiny amount of text that says “By Lauren Luke” and the palette’s name, My Luscious Greens.

All the items in the palette blend beautifully, have fantastic color pay off, and pack quite good bit of make up inside. This isn’t cheap or shoddy by any means, it’s great makeup and obviously Lauren is proud of it for a reason as it’s definitely good quality.

To start the look you’ll be using the primer. One of two shades are available, I used the lighter of the two. It creates a good solid base for shadows and allows the shadow to blend nicely plus it lets the shadow stay on all day and adds intensity. Yes, it does indeed keep shadows from creasing or fading. I put it to the test by forgoing my beloved UDPP for it this morning and it worked an absolute treat.

I did my look a tad different from Lauren’s tut. I ended up applying the lighter shade of green on my lids and the darker contrasting shade on my crease. I followed this up by pairing the golden lighter green as a highbrow highlighter. This simply created a pretty, mysterious green look. The shadows all have a velvet finish however the darker green does have a tad bit of a matte, satin finish but it still blends easily however use with care as it’s VERY pigmented. The liner is a nice texture and although I didn’t use it above my eye, it did work nicely on my waterline. It has a nice dense formula and it applies easily and flawlessly.

I followed up my look with the iridescent sheer peach blush. This I didn’t like simply because I’m used to louder blush shades. This is a very natural, sheer peach shade which almost works as more of a highlighter for your face. It completes and compliments the eye look beautifully but it’s a tad too sheer for my liking.

Finally both lip shades are very nice and again they complete the look nicely and pair up well with the shades in the palette. You’ll get two shades which are a nude peach and a deeper rosey peach shade. Both are plenty pigmented and look quite pretty on the lips. You can use the darker shade as a liner if you like and fill with the lighter shade.

It deserves to be mentioned, if you’re a tad anal, that the palette does indeed have fall out issues. It will become a tad messy if you aren’t careful and you’ll end up with blush in your lip colors and possibly have primer end up on the palette, etc…..but this happens with most any palette, you’ll just have to cope sadly.

Overall, I think the palette is quite a quality item and at $34 USD the price isn’t too bad. It’s an ideal palette for those who desire a complete look without having to spend a ton of time on that look. It’s also incredibly user friendly for those who are just starting out with makeup or anyone who finds it difficult to apply makeup. This simplifies things so very much and even teaches you the best shades to pair up plus how to blend a lighter and a darker shade. As I mentioned the only thing missing was a tutorial and I hope Lauren will consider adding one in at a later date as she’ll pave a way for the makeup world if she did. As we know it’s rare any makeup outside of Asia comes with a “how to”.

By Lauren Like is an incredible line and I think I’ll be indulging in one or two more of her palettes. I look forward to keeping my eye on Lauren to see what she springs on us next.

My completed look:

I’m Muse Approving her palettes for ease of use, quality, and there nice price tag! Likey!
