I know I’m such a cheese with all my Avon reviews lately but I can’t help but stop and say that Avon has vastly improved lately and I’ve embraced all the great new items they are offering item.
Recently when I seen the Jillian Dempsey for Avon Essential Beauty Palette I was kinda hopping around as I really liked what Jillian has pulled off for Avon lately. Away I went with indulging in one of the two palettes on offer, after all it promises me a full face of makeup in a cute little palette…who could resist?
Zomg! Bad idea Avon. No likey this palette at all!
I’m somewhat shocked in all honesty that this was such an epic fail. The Jillian Dempsey for Avon Essential Beauty Palette comes in a cool and warm version and run around $4.99-$7.99 per palette. The palette is a cute little cardboard flip design with a full size mirror and all the makeup you need for a complete look such as lipcreams, blush, shadows, and an applicator! Sweet.
Not so sweet.
The entire lot of makeup included in the palette is utterly, completely, and devastatingly bad. I’m not sure what went wrong as Jillian Dempsey is a rock star with her Avon creations but this was terribly wrong. The shadows included are both cream and apply sheer and streaky! The lip colors aren’t as bad but they aren’t easy to blend and just sit on your lips and finally the blush gives a tiny hint of color but isn’t nearly pigmented enough to create a wow inspiring look.
I’m pretty sad about this one! I think they honestly put effort into making it but didn’t anyone test it before they slapped it up for sell?
The Muse thought she’d cheap it up today and break open her bottle of Avon Skin So Soft Fusions Soft & Replenish Dual Softening Body Wash.
I know, I know, it’s not everyday you see your Muse going the cheap route but hey desperate times calls for desperate deals right? I’m on my search for the best beauty budget finds and this happens to be one!
Read on to learn more!
At $3.99 USD for a 6.7oz bottle, Avon Skin So Soft Fusions Soft & Replenish Dual Softening Body Wash is a value for your buck. This mutitasking body wash cleanses, exfoliates, and moisturizes. See? I told you it was a deal.
The product contains a dual chamber which houses one side of a moisturizing lotion like shower gel and another which contains an exfoliating gel treatment. Squeeze a small amount into a shower puff, sponge, or your hand and the two formulas combine to create a creamy, bead infused shower gel. Small beads massage and exfoliate skin while the creamy base of the product offers moisture. The gel smells fresh and clean and leaves skin soft and silky smooth!
Skin So Soft is an extremely popular line from Avon and extending the line to include these new body washes is truly a good thing. The Muse likes the price and the way her skin feels gorgeous after use. Can’t beat the price either.
Avon Skin So Soft Fusions Soft & Replenish Dual Softening Body Wash is a fab Beauty on a Budget score.
mark is busy being romantic for the upcoming Valentine season as we can see from the updates on it’s site!
The Muse was browsing the site and noticed a few choice little kits that are sure to seduce, tempt, and make you flush with pleasure when you see them!
mark supposedly hearts these kits and really the Muse may feel the same. $20 USD snags you one of two kits for a bold or a demure look…the Muse isn’t picky she’ll take either.
Flirt 101 Kit Includes:
i-mark Magaic and South Beach Eyeshadows
mark Kissink in red siren
mark Juice Gems in Juicy Cherry Pop
Love 4 Ever Kit Includes:
i-mark in Cake and Luvstruck Eyeshadows
mark Kissink in Berry Bitten
mark Juicy Gems in Juicy Cassis
What’s not to love with these sweet little kits?
mark Candy Kisses Lip Glosses are $10 USD but you can snag ‘em for $6 USD if you purchase anything off the site. The kit includes three candy shaped compacts filled with deliciously scented and flavored gloss!
All in all a rather cute little selection of goodies for the upcoming Valentine Day season and of course Spring!
Don’t quote the Muse but she recently tried Avon Glazewear Diamonds Eye Color and she had thought this was a new product for the Avon Holiday Collection (yeah, yeah I’m still in Holiday mode here, sue me!) but I think maybe that the color I tried might have been new for the collection and not the actual product. Ok anyway…little bit more info that you’d be interested to know there but I just wanted to clear that up before getting onto the review stage of this process.
Honestly, put diamonds and any cosmetic name after or before it and the Muse gets hyper…diamond lipstick, diamond gloss, diamond powder….I mean seriously doesn’t diamond just make everything look extra special? Dontcha just want it after you hear diamond attached to it?
So when I heard Avon Glazewear Diamonds Eye Color I was all about it. Diamond? That had to mean it would shimmer and sparkle and shine! Oh yes I need diamonds to make all my holiday looks complete plus it’s cheap at $7 USD!
Umm I found out I really didn’t need diamonds after all sadly….
I tried out Avon Glazwear Diamonds Eye Color in Pure Silver and I must say the excitement and prospects of a silvery liquid color had my mind turning to mush and my heart throbbing in excitement. I think what really had me going was the chance that maybe Avon Glazewear Diamonds Eye Color could be the next Visee Aqua Shining Eyes. I’m a self confessed hater of liquid and cream shadows but I do so admit that as of late I’ve given some a chance and really loved ones I’ve tried. I had pretty high hopes for this product as lately Avon hasn’t failed at really delighting me with some of it’s newest releases.
Sadly, all my hopes and dreams of an awesome liquid shadow were quickly dashed upon application. Avon Glazewear Diamonds Eye Color may have the potential for greatness but somewhere along the line the formula fails miserably. I had to strain myself to build up color for decent coverage and even after several layers the shadow still looked sheer. The formula dries down considerably slower than normal liquid shadows which makes blending a real treat but that doesn’t excuse the lack of pigmentation nor does it make up for the fact that the final, finished dry down is a complete nightmare of a mess. Blending was a bit of a problem simply because the product streaks around the eye big time. The dry down is slow which makes blending easy however the streaking causes a problem of having to apply layer after endless layer to get a very sheer finish. Ugh! Frustrating! The finished results are more of problem as the product dries down to a flaky, cracking, creasing hot mess. Finished results looked like I had nothing on at all but upon closer inspection you can make out smears of shadow all over my eye that looks like I slapped it on without properly blending it when in fact I just spent the last 15 minutes applying one hundred layers of this stuff and blending until my little finger hurt.
Here I am wearing about five hundred layers of Avon Glazewear…mmmm..very sheer as you can see!
Anyway.
The moral of this story is the Muse can’t help but be let down by Avon Glazewear Diamonds Eye Color. I was kinda sorta hoping for something special especially considering I’ve had such wonderful luck lately with Avon! Sadly, I really didn’t like this and I was somewhat shocked at all the raving, glowing reviews on the Avon site for the product because I honestly thought it wasn’t great at all.
This one the Muse isn’t feeling this one sadly but she still hearts other Avon goodies!
Granted it’s not like she minds in the least to have hair comparable to Einstien but she’s come to the conclusion that old Albert could work this look where as the Muse on the other hand can not.
In my quest for all things cheap lately (you know we haz to be cheap with the economy and such) I discovered Avon Advanced Techniques Anti-Frizz Capsules aka weird little capsules that look like the latest street drug.
Although a majority of the time nothing touches my hair outside of Lush haircare and a few select e-tailer brand shampoos and conditioners I decided to shrug off my snotty little nature and try out Avon Advanced Techniques Anti-Frizz Capsules. Honestly, anything that promises to tame the frizz is always a welcome addition to my haircare regime. My hair is long, it’s wavy, it’s curly, and without proper care it does look quite like I stuck my hand into the nearest socket.
Surprisingly these little capsules do exactly what they promise which is tame the evil frizz. The price is one of the key selling points as for $2.99 USD it’s quite a nice steal. You’ll get 18 capsules which you’ll either use one or two of or more if you’re really having a frizzy kinda day. I used one and my hair was nice and soft afterward, frizz-free, shiny, and didn’t feel weighted down. My main concern when using new haircare is how it’ll weight my hair down. My hair is currently silicon free thanks to Lush so I take extra care when using anything else as once I reintroduce silicons or other additives into my hair it starts to misbehave. I was pleasantly surprised that merely one capsule which contains 3, 4 drops of serum at the most banished my frizzes and made my hair nice and soft.
If you’re looking for something cheap that won’t weight your hair down and will zap your frizzes I highly suggest checking this out. Not a bad deal on the price plus it delivers on the promise of frizz-free hair! I’m on the bandwagon for a re-purchase once I run out!
Last week I was excited about the prospect of 24K Gold in my lipstick! This morning I’m excited that I get diamonds in my lipstick too……
Damn, life is good.
I got alot of requests for Beauty Budget finds and I hope so far I’ve given you what you want. Look at your Muse giving you gold and diamonds at a budget price….doesn’t it make you love her more than evers before? Avon Glazewear Diamond Lipstick is $8 USD and delivers a dazzling diamond finish with a moisturizing, pigmented formula.
As much as I loved the new Avon 24K Gold Lipstick I have to say that the formula of the Avon Glazewear Diamond Lipstick is positively dreamy and creamy when compared with it. The formula is so buttery smooth and just glides on beautifully. The finish is so glossy smooth and gorgeous that gloss is completely optional. The color I tried was Ruby Slippers which is a peachy pink shade that makes my skin absolutely glow. The finish has a hint of silver diamond-like shimmer but nothing overly done, it’s a barely noticable shimmer. For the most part I felt like the finish was that of a gloss rather than a lipstick. I can’t say enough good things about the wonderful formula. Color payoff is equally excellant and the product is nicely pigmented.
If you’re looking for a nice inexpensive lipstick with a glossy finish, a touch of shimmer, and great color pay off I highly recommend nabbing one of Avon Glazewear Diamond Lipsticks for yourself! The Muse Approves ‘em and thinks they are a rather great find.
Remember the Avon Color Rich 24K Gold Lipstick I was telling you about? Turns out it’s something rather special! I do so highly suggest checking these out for yourself from Avon as they are truly good and inexpensive to boot!
Each tube is $4.99 USD and contains a beautiful sparkling shade of highly moisturizing and pigmented lip color. Who can’t love that price? The shades all contain a healthy dose of gold shimmering flecks which ends up intensifying the color of the lipstick and making your lips gleam and shine! Gorgeous!
I tried two shades but I’m heading back for more shortly as truly they are gorgeous. The two colors I tried were Ruby in Gold and Golden Wine. Ruby in Gold is a beautiful deep peach a la my favorite MAC Lipglass Pink Grapefruit (I know, I know you’re tiring of hearing about Pink Grapefruit already!). Now Gold Wine had me terrified when I first seen it! The shade takes vampy up a few notches to say the least. In the tube it’s a deep, dark almost black cherry shade….terrifying….but it applies maroon with tiny flecks of gold! Gorgeous! If you ask which shade I like more I couldn’t possibly say as they are both beautiful.
For the price and the great quality I’m slapping a Muse Approved sticker on ‘em! I loves ‘em and thinks you will to!

I know, I know you must have noticed by now that I’m suddenly Avon’s biggest cheerleader but I honestly can’t help myself as they have introduced some sincerely lovely items lately that are pretty high quality plus inexpensive!
I’m highly interested in trying out the new Avon Color Rich 24K Gold Lipstick as hey, it has gold in it…do I need any other excuse to want it?
I seen at least 6 shades I wanted and at the price I can totally afford to nab ‘em all if I so want! They even have a shade entitled 24K…well hello gorgeous! I mainly have my eye on Golden Wine which looks simply stunning. Click to check out the luscious shades!
Hopefully I’ll bring a review to you shortly on these!
The economy is in a real slump right now and I think it’s safe to say many of us want to monitor our purchases very closely so indulging in costly makeup isn’t on our top to do list right now. Which is why the Avon Holiday Collection looks quite appealing at the moment as it offers a bit of sparkle, some shine, a buncha glitter, and a cost effective way to pull off a sparkling Holiday look for under $20 USD!
Honestly, Avon has captured and kept my interest for a while now as it progressively gets better and better with each release. A few pieces from the Holiday Collection look interesting and I’ll try to bring you a review soon of the items!
Avon Shimmer Swirls Face Illuminator is $7.99 USD and comes in two shades, Rose Whirl and Silver Swirl. Wear it alone or over foundation for an all over shimmering glow this Holiday Season!
To complete your look you’ll need to add a bit of sparkle and shimmer to your lashes! Snatch up some Avon Shimmer Tips Mascara for $4.99 USD and add that glint of gold or silver to lashes!
Thankfully Avon makes it easy to indulge in great makeup and all for a budget price! Shop the Avon Holiday Collection 2008 now by clicking here.
The Muse got the new Avon Bond Girl 007 Eau de Parfum Spray yesterday and she thinks that she might be able to spray herself down with this and nab some hot Bond action! I’m pretty sure that with one quick spray of this seductive perfume I can easily bag myself Daniel Craig….he’ll never be able to resist me!
Hmmm or maybe I should go with Timothy Dalton circa 1980′s…he was always my favorite Bond….
The new Avon Bond Girl 0007 fragrance is supposedly impossible to resist and from the reviews on the Avon site I guess it’s true!
The Muse tried it out last night and it’s very interesting although not my normal style of perfume considering my tastes run to more sweeter blends. The perfume is quite a seductive, sexy blend of exotic orchid, white peach, and refreshing orange blossom. I honestly got mostly floral from the blend with a very firm dry down of patchouli. I’m normally not a big fan of patchouli but it’s honestly not as bad as you may be thinking since the other key notes in the scent take away from the harshness of the patchouli so you’re getting a rather seduction floral scent with hints of a stronger woodsy musk
The scent manages to linger quite long taking into consideration that it is an Eau de Parfum so it contains a good deal of perfume oils. It lasted at least 8 hours on me after two squirts and I actually felt like two was a bit too much! The fragrance comes housed in a slick curved bottle that displays the peach colored perfume perfectly.
Overall, it’s an interesting parfum and worth checking out considering if you purchase it from Avon for $30 USD you also get a free movie ticket to see the latest Bond film!
After all the insanity of Holiday Collection that I’ve been bombarding you with lately I’m sure you needed a break and wanted to hear more about Fall!
Check out mark’s new Earth Face Glow powders! Sweet right?
These quite remind me of many of the highlighting powders released by Banila Co and VOV and also somewhat like a MAC MSF too!
At $7 USD each you can afford to indulge in one or all three! I want to check these out because they really look quite pretty and I wouldn’t mind a bit of shimmer and sparkle on my cheeks!
They are available in three shades Pebbles (Soft Peach Shimmer), Quartz (Rose Shimmer), and Solar (Gold Shimmer).
I bet if you check E-bay you could probably get ‘em for $4-$5!
Yes, the Muse must go and check now because she thinks she needs these on the double!
If you’re looking for a warm, simple, inexpensive look for Fall might I suggest having a look at by Jillian Dempsey for Avon Retro Charm.
Although I’m a self confessed Avon hater I do admit that many of the collections they have released over the course of the last year have been really great, in particular those designed by Jillian Dempsey.
The collection consists of several items to make up a great face look for Fall. My favorite item is the Avon Retro Rouge which is available in two shades. The blush is a wonderfully pigmented cheek color that’s silky and long wearing. The blush comes in two shade selections and is available for $7.99 USD each. Each blush has a beautiful floral design which remains in place after swiping your blush across it! Bonus points for a great design that allows you to enjoy the cute floral design without completely erasing it after application! The color selection I have is Vintage Shimmer which is a warm peach shade. Although it contains “shimmer” in the name the blush itself remains a matte, silky finish.
To pair up with my warm, peachy shade of blush I choose a Avon True Color Eyeshadow in Apricot which is a golden peach shade that has a very slight shimmer but creates a very natural, smooth finish that’s flattering with warm blushes.
Finally to complete my look I used Avon Ultra Color Rich Lipstick in Charming Rose. The name is slightly misleading as the finish on this is a warm, metallic coral. Again, paired up with a warmer blush and shadow this color looks simply stunning!
I was really pleased with the look I created using these products and highly recommend picking some of this collection up. My entire look minus foundation, mascara, etc….was $13.73 USD to create. $2.49 USD for my shadow, $7.99 USD for my blush, and my lipstick was $3.25 USD.
Creating a stunning look for Fall for under $15 USD is definately Muse Approved.
I liked this collection alot. Color pay off was excellent, design and packaging was elegant, and my finished look was beautifully warm and Fall-like!
If you’re not particularly eager to shell out $25 USD for NARS Super Orgasm after reading my recent review I’d highly suggest nabbing this blush as a great replacement item!
Yet again Avon has stepped up it’s game with the Limited Edition marimekko for Avon Collection. marimekko famous floral motif is now available in cosmetic compact format with this new collection from Avon. I’m thrilled to bits that I got a chance to test out one of the two available eyeshadow palettes from this new line up.
The collection consists of two face powder compacts and two eyeshadow palettes each of which sports a cute floral design that makes each compact both unique and kawaii! The Muse likey!
I got my shadow compact in the mail last night and I promptly went online and ordered a shadow compact and a blush compact for my mate Iris from Rouge Deluxe because I know she’ll feel the same way about these as I do! They are just too cute! You know I’m impressed with something when I’m ordering it to gift to friends!
I got my palette in Poppy Bouquet which contains an array of cool shades. One of the dominant shades in the palette is a shimmering navy blue which I was slightly scared of as blues aren’t so easy to pull off. However, I was delighted to see that the color is quite soft and completely wearable! The other shades in the palette are a softer grayish white and a pinkish lilac. The shades all work well together to create a rather soft, fresh eye look. I was impressed with the silky, shimmering texture of the shadows which offer decent color payoff while not over doing it! The colors in the palette are of medium pigmentation but can easily be built up for deeper color pay off or with a lighter hand you can easily create a softer look.
The palette is a tad unconventional because of the floral motif design. The floral design is separated by an empty black, plastic divider which makes it difficult to fit your brush or sponge applicator into the powder to grab up color however with the the floral design so gorgeous you’ll soon forget any inconvenience of application!
In times of a failing economy, options of inexpensive makeup become a necessity for many of us and Avon offers these palettes at a brilliant price! Each eye palette is $8 USD and each face palette is $10 USD. You can’t beat the price for such a cute little palette!
The Muse digs ‘em and approves ‘em for purchase!
