I’m partitioning Frankie Valli to change the lyrics to Grease is NOT the world in honor of Lush Grease Lighting Spot Treatment.
But don’t tell my sister…she thinks the Earth, the Moon, the Stars revolves around the Jersey Boys…changing the lyrics could be like breaking the law to her.
Lush Grease Lighting is the latest skincare treat from Lush for treating spots, pimples, and all the uglies that pop up on our skin.
Check it after the jump!
Lush Grease Lighting is a blend of witch hazel, thyme, calming rosemary, and antibacterial tea tree water to create an antiseptic for keeping pimples well under control. Mind you this isn’t a skin treatment but a spot treatment. What’s that mean? It means if you have a fat pimple on your forehead before a blind date tomorrow you can dab some of this on to zap that spot right out of your hair. It works a treat on minor pimples, small formations of pimples on places like your chin or forehead, etc….it works to dry pimples out, treat them, and reduce the size of the pimple all while delivering a healthy dose of treatment to clear your skin up.
I have a nice size pimple on the side of my face at the moment which I’m not up for discussing with you but I will for the sake of my review. I applied some Grease Lighting on it last night and the pimple is considerably smaller. I imagine with another dab of this it’ll probably be gone by morning w00t!
The formula is a watery, runny gel which you can tap onto blemishes easily. It’s very gentle so it doesn’t dry out your entire face but it does dry out the area you’re treating however not so much that you’re left with cracked, flaky skin.
If you’re looking for a spot treatment to save your skin Lush Grease Lighting is the way to go. It’s $9.95 and available now from Lush Mail Order or your local Lush store. I trust Lush skincare with my life so it’s a joy to have a quick spot treatment for the times that a rare pimple pops up on my face!
Nope, it’s not a sugar cookie actually it’s not a cookie of any kind. Not a Chinese dumpling either. In fact you can’t eat it at all but that doesn’t mean it’s not good for you and your body!

Those of you who guessed that it’s a Lush Sugar Scrub guessed correctly! Looks kinda edible doesn’t it?
Ok, you need these in your life. You need these if your skin is rough and flaky. You need them if you want a moisturizing exfoliating scrub that’s sooooooo super luxurious. You just need ‘em period.
If you love Buffy you’ll absolutely adore how Lush has taken exfoliation to the next level with their brand new Lush Sugar Scrubs! The scrubs are delicately packed together lumps of joy. I do say delicate since if you handle them incorrectly and with out a little TLC you’ll find yourself with a fist full of sugar, be gentle. Each scrub is packed into a dome, raised cookie shape kinda like a scone! The scrubs are available in two versions for $4.95 each and you can probably get one to two uses if you want to super scrub your rough bits or about four uses if you’re stingy. As for me I’m terribly rough so I use an entire one for my knees and elbows plus Lush does suggest using one per a shower. The basic idea is to break it in two pieces, wet the area you’re working with, wet the scrub in your hand and proceed to rub it anywhere you want smooth, silky skin. The scrub quickly breaks up into grains of sugar and after a little scrubbing they sud up and disappear. They leave behind smooth, silky, moisturized skin. You need to try ‘em yourself as they are truly a little joy in the bath and body world.
The two scrubs available are Sugar Scrub and Sugar Babe. Sugar Scrub is Vegan where as Sugar Babe is not.
Sugar Scrub has a herbal lavender scent and is green in color. Lush says it’s good for scrubbing away dead skin cells, tackling cellulite, and and invigorating sluggish skin.
Sugar Babe is my favorite of the two. At first sniff I didn’t like it as it had a weird sour milk gardenia scent but once it’s wet it smells oddly of Lush Snowcake but with quite a bit more of a floral underlay which is a bit lily-like and a bit of gardenia as well. Lush recommends this for upper arms, thighs, and stomach. It has a center of extra virgin coconut oil which is revealed as you scrub. The actual scent is ylang ylang but for me it smells quite like Snowcake when damp. Loving it!
Lush Sugar Scrubs are available now from www.lush.com

The Muse has raved about Lush Skincare a plenty but she doesn’t think she ever took the time out to review Lush Masks for you. Gasp! Horror! Apologies I’m unsure why their masks never came up prior to this. Forgive me?
Jump ahead to check one of my favorite masks from Lush out!
I’m actually going to admit that I avoid Lush Masks whenever possible. You might wonder why. Allow me to explain.
Lush Masks are normally sold fresh in store and are unavailable (aside from the UK) for purchase from mail order. If you’re in the UK you can purchase them via mail order however those ordering from Lush US are unable to purchase them as they are shipped from Canada so by the time you get your mask it’ll be into it’s expiration date. Ahh…second reason I don’t buy masks much…expiration date. Masks expire within a range of two, three, or four weeks. I find that I stick them in the fridge and never get around to actually using one complete pot before tossing it. I normally try to rush it along by using heaps of the mask on my face so as not to toss it out.
I’ve tried all the masks from Lush and I have to say as much as I adore Lush Skincare the masks aren’t anything to get too excited about. My favorites are A Crash Course in Skincare, Cupcake, and Mask of Magnaminty (this one has a far longer shelf life).
After all my experiments with Lush Masks I’ve never really seen dramatic results which is another reason I stopped using them. By the way many of them smell absolutely awful too, gag! A Crash Course in Skincare smells decent enough with a bit of lime and avocado, sorta of green and herbal like. Not entirely pleasant as it has some sort of underlay of an unidentifiable note but not terrible either.
A Crash Course in Skincare is supposedly a deep cleansing, calming, soothing mask. It has a blend of avocados, yogurt, and clay to refreshen skin. According to Lush you’ll see immediate results. Personally, it feels very nice on my skin, quite cooling after a time in my fridge, and does leave skin dewy with a faint glow but nothing that’s lasting. I normally use it (if I do indulge which is rare) prior to bed and I don’t really wake up with incredible, oh my god skin after use. I apply. let sit for 10-20 minutes, and wash off with cool water. Sure, my skin looks quite nice afterward but guess what? My skin always looks good after a quick rinse with cool water.
The novelty of Lush masks sure does appeal but I’d honestly rather splurge on a pack of Kanebo Super Moisturizing Masks. I see better results.
If you’ve ever been interested in trying Lush Masks they are worthy of a look at but don’t expect miracles.
Anyone a Lush Mask fan?
Why?
Tell us your favs and how they make your skin look good!
The good word on Lush Dark Angels Cleanser is about to unfold oily skin chicas. Lush Dark Angels Cleanser is Lush’s newest “breakaway” cleanser which is a mud scrub for oily skin types made of charcoal and rasshoul. I told you more about it in a prior post which you can see here.
I’m neither young, nor oily, nor dark skinned as recommended for users of Lush Dark Angels Cleanser however I am a Lush lover and that qualified me to purchase some and try it out!
Click to find out what I think.
I’m sorry but I suddenly feel the need to defend the fact that I’m about to review skincare. It’s been said, if you listen to a whisper of news, that if I’m not a scientist or if I can’t provide proper proof of my results with an item that I am not qualified to review it for you (another words my freedom of speech is being threatened). The fact is I must give you a disclaimer that no I’m not a scientist and the below results will vary.
Now that we got passed that boring stuff…on with the good stuff!
If you’re a Lush lover you already know this but for the non Lush users allow me to explain the term “breakaway” cleanser. Lush makes several cleansers that are cut from a “roll” and sold by the pound, quarter slice, etc….these pieces are placed in tiny little containers and sold off to Lush fans far and wide by weight. They are entitled breakaway cleansers because you break off a tiny piece from the larger “roll” and proceed to use it. Thus Lush Dark Angels Cleanser falls into this category. To use it, you’ll break off a small piece, mix it with a few drops of water, work it into a paste, and proceed to cleanse your face with it. Do keep in mind that I consider these cleansers a type of after treatment. Another words do remove all your makeup prior to “cleansing” with this. That’s the way I like to do it and I think it’s the best way.
Now….Dark Angels. Let’s get to that review.
If you’re familiar with Lush Coalface you’ll love Dark Angels. It’s basically the same product as far as I am concerned but it a different format. Coalface is a solid soap format where as Dark Angels is a breakaway cleanser formula. The difference between the two would be Dark Angels is far scrubbier. It has alot of little tiny, fine pieces of charcoal in it which makes a great dead skin scrub. This could prove a bit much for those with sensitive skin though. A little bit goes a long way and one little drops covers my entire face in black mud. It smells like a mix of charcoal and licorice which I find pleasant but some may find revolting.
The results….
One use makes my skin feel smoother, made it glow, and removed traces of oil. I tried it after a long day and my face was oily on the forehead and by the sides of my nose with dry spots on my cheeks. Although meant for younger, oilier, problem skin it successfully worked on the cocktail of combination skin I had going on. I was scared it would dry my skin out badly but it simply made it feel smoother and removed all traces of oil and dryness while leaving behind a nice healthy, glow. To say I was surprised is an understatement. I honestly though I’d end up drier than I already am after use but nope. If anything it made my skin smoother and more refined. This is of course after one use so I’ll proceed to test further and see what happens so far I adore the results.
I imagine Dark Angels has the potential to have incredible results for anyone with oily skin. It seems like the ideal treatment for soaking up oil and mattifying skin. I suggest heading to Lush for a small, free sample and trying it out in the morning prior to a shower. Just wet your hands and work it into a paste and proceed to scrub it onto your face. Afterward step into the shower to rinse. This makes a big mess so it’s best used this way rather than rinsing over a sink. It’s also beneficial as you’ll start your day with a nice matte skin thanks to the cleanser.
Lush Dark Angels Cleanser is so far a winner hands down for me. Pleasantly surprised by this little cleanser by Lush but really I shouldn’t be surprised at all because Lush is ace in the skincare department as far as the Muse is concerned.
Only Lush would think it would be a good idea to combine oregano with rose. Is it me or does that somehow remind you of pizza for some odd reason or another?
Lush 13 Soap is a mix of rose and oregano and gets it’s name from a 1931 film about soap. I looked that up and didn’t see anything about it but I think I’d love a movie about soap…or cosmetics…or shower gels…hmmmm.
Lush 13 Soap is made with oregano because it supposedly kills MRSA bacteria, I dunno about that but from what I’m hearing from Lush fans it smells heavenly. But do go right ahead and count me skeptical…I’m still thinking pizza…must be the oregano.
It’s available now from Lush UK and soon after I’m sure it’ll come visit our side of the pond where we can enjoy it with pizza.
If you could create a Lush soap what ingredients would you use?
Yes, well, it goes without saying that anything with pineapples, coconuts, or other tropical fruits talks to me, particularly in the Summer!

Count Lush Coco Lotion as a want for this Muse! Yes, please I’d like to smell like fresh pineapple.
Available now from Lush UK and soon to follow in the US I’m ever so sure.

You head to work on Monday expecting it to be like any other day of the week when your boss pulls you aside with some incredible news. He relates to you that he wants to send you to London for the entire Summer to work at the UK branch. You’re so excited you can’t believe your good luck! As soon as you leave his office you dial up your best friend who lives in England to share the details. Your best friend informs you that it would be a terrible time to come to London right now because the predicted weather for the next three months is gloomy, cloudy weather and rain! You’re kinda feel badly after you hear this especially since you’re having perfect Summer weather right at home. You keep your chin up and decided you’ll need a few makeup essentials to bring Summer with you to cold, dreary London. What will they be (choose five)?
I’d choose a fun Summer scent, a great bronzer, a pretty shade of blush, a shimmery, Summery palette for my eyes, and a good primer to keep my makeup from falling off my face in the rain!
My picks:
Fragrance: Harajuku Lovers G Warm, coconut will help me think Summer during those rainy days!
Bronzer: Urban Decay Baked Bronze in Glided As if you haven’t heard enough how much I love this bronzer! Shimmery cheeks with hint of gold and peach will bring a little sun to my cloudy day in London!
Blush: MAC Eversun Blush My ideal blush this Summer and plenty peachy to bring a little color into my world on dreary days!
Primer: Korres Face Primer Love this stuff! Keeps my makeup so fresh! Hopefully it’ll help keep it waterproof too!
Your best friend asks you to dinner on Friday night and explains she has amazing news to tell you! You meet up with her and as you’re ordering dinner she springs on you she’s getting married to an Arabian Sheikh. With your mouth hanging open you gasp in shock! After getting over your shock you gush how excited you are for her. After the waiter leaves with your order you proceed to ask her for all the details. She explains that the wedding will take place in the Sahara Desert. Trying not to gasp in shock you begin plotting skincare items you’re going to need to keep your face properly moist. Pick three items to keep your skin in order!
My picks:
Lush Ocean Salt Most people don’t use Ocean Salt on their face because they feel it’s too harsh but I happen to love it! It’s ideal for those crazy desert days when my skin begins to flake up!
Ok! Now it’s your turn. The desert and dreary, cold rain for three months! Babble it peeps and tell me what you’d need to survive these nasty weather conditions.
The Muse has been so busy lately she hasn’t had a visit or a stop by on the Lush UK forum in a long, long time. That being said it means she isn’t as updated on what is being released from Lush. Ugh how remiss of her!
Well….a little late to this ball game but better later than never. Allow me to introduce you to Lush’s latest skincare gem entitled Dark Angels Cleanser.
Hm! Count me curious!
Jump ahead for it! I happen to be a fan of Lush Coal Face so I’m quite curious about Lush Dark Angels Cleanser. Although I do so admit that they appear to be quite similar?
Dark Angels is supposedly a powerful cleanser designed for younger, oily skin, and darker skin. I find it interesting that Lush designed a cleanser meant for darker skin. I’m wondering what that entails and I’m looking forward to hearing reviews from anyone with a darker tone. It’s supposedly a cleansing roll which could mean it’s not solid and more along the lines of Angels on Bare Skin where you are breaking off pieces to use. The base of the product is Rhassoul mud which is purchased directly from mines in Morocco’s Atlas Mountains (yes I know sounds exotic but knowing Lush’s environmental stance I imagine it’s very true). It also contains charcoal which absorbs oil and scrubs skin clean. Rosewood and sandalwood essential oils keep skin smooth.
It doesn’t honestly sound exactly like Lush Coal Face in formula or texture but the charcoal definitely hints at the fact it could likely be quite similar in results. I’m quite curious. I think I may indulge. I’m neither young nor oily but anything Lush skin related always tops my lists. It’s Summer so I imagine my forehead can use a good scrub down to keep it from being oily. The worst it could do is dry me out.
If you’re looking for some fab finds to get your body beautiful for the Summer do click ahead to enjoy a slew of scrubs, shower gels, lotions, and potions to spoil yourself with this Summer. All of ‘em are on the Muse’s Summer Must Have list!
