I always fascinated when reader’s request a review of a lighter mascara. It seems the whole world wants a mascara that has a light formula, something that won’t weight lashes down but still manages to achieve great results.
In my experience a lighter formula normally translates as an epic fail.
Jump ahead for a little something that’s lighter and that works a treat at leaving lashes natural yet full!
Pixi makes (or made) perfume?
Any chance you wanna revisit some Target goodies with me? How about a Pixi LipGloss?
Jump ahead for it!
Ah meh! Up until now I’ve given Pixi a bum wrap for appearing at my local Target. I thought the line was simply too expensive to make a guest starring appearance at Target of all places. But it seems to be doing well and my prediction that it and the rest of the expensive lines would be in the clearance bin by now (NP, Jemma Kidd, Etc…) hasn’t come to pass. But goes to show that the Muse isn’t always right. I suppose I shouldn’t be too surprised these lines are doing so well considering that Sonia Kaschuk makes a killing at Target so why can’t Pixi and the rest do the same? Obviously, it’s really happening for these lines because I haven’t seen anything yet that hints at their demise although keep in mind they haven’t exactly added to these lines either since their original introduction. You’d think by now you’d see something new pop up for Spring or Summer…but ado it’s still making it’s own at Target.
Up until now I haven’t really liked much of what I tried from the lines but a few pieces have slipped by me such as the Pixi Lip Booster. This I can get on board with!
$18 USD, ouch Target (and Pixi) gets you a chubby tube of moisturizing lip gloss that plumps and conditions lips with a slightly sheer tint. Loves it. It’s a rather great formula of gloss that I really like. I believe I tried one of these year’s ago when Sephora was carrying most of the Pixi line but don’t quote me on that. I love the formula as it’s a nice thick gloss that definitely give lips a fuller look. If you’re looking for a plumping gloss without the sting this would work well although it’s not really plumping in my humblest but simply a thick gloss that gives a fuller lip look. It’s nice and glossy and leaves a high sheen behind with a tiny hint of color. There are several shades to choose from but I only tried one which was labeled no. 10 and is a nice red shade. Either over lipstick or on it’s own it’s great gloss although a tad expensive for picking up at Target.
All in all a rather nice gloss and worth getting if you’re looking for a thick gloss to make lips look fuller but I’d avoid it if you aren’t keen on spending over $20 (taxes!) on a gloss at Target of all places.
What are your favs from Target’s “expensive” line of cosmetics?
Tell the Muse!
If you know the Muse you know how much she values a good blush or cheek stain that gives her that perfect flush. The flush that you get when you come in from a cold winter’s night, the flush you get from a sweet kiss, the flush you get when someone pinches your cheeks (hey I’m a good deal older now but my aunt still pinches my cheeks!)….all these things give a wonderful burst of cool that lights up my face with a natural pink sheen! Ahhhhh dontcha just love that look? I sure do. I get that look easily when using Benefit Posietint but that doesn’t mean I’m not always wandering around and searching out the next best thing to give me that flushed, cheeky look!
The next best thing today happens to be Pixi Water Blush Cheek Stain however it’s not as delicate or subtle as other tints and it definitely has that pop that the Muse prefers when it comes to color! However, the Muse does debate whether it’s the best at all…..
Up until now the Pixi Target line really hasn’t held much of my attention. I’ve tried a good bit of the products offered and nothing has completely knocked me over as being amazingly great and must have. For the most part, as we’ve been over again and again, the price sways us all as paying counter prices at Target definitely holds little appeal for this Muse. I must say that I did love the Pixi Water Stain Blush however it holds one or two problems in it’s own right.
The blush sports the same style bottle as Benefit Benetint and Benefit Posietint with it’s nail polish style packaging and a brush applicator that resembles your favorite bottle nail color. The color I tried was Rose Stain however I believe there are three other shades to choose from but don’t quote me on that could be more. Although in the bottle and swatches the color is a deep off red shade it actually ends up applying as an almost peach with deep red undertones. Since the product is deeply pigmented it does cause a bit of drama when blending. To apply you simply dot a small amount on cheeks but since it dries down so quickly those “dots” remain even after blended which is rather annoying (you can actually see the problem in my blended swatch below). Aside from the blending problem it does give a super nice pop of color to my cheeks although it’s not natural or subtle in the least so if you’re looking for a soft flush this will not be something you’re wanting to try. I really liked the look however it does look a bit unnatural on but that didn’t sway me from liking how deep a shade it was. The finish is a combination of orange, red, and peach.
Pixi Water Stain Blush is $20 USD which is considerably lower priced when compared with Benetint’s $28 USD price tag however it all comes down, once again, to paying such a high mark up at my local Target.
We head to your store for steep discounts not for high priced cosmetics!
Aside from my ranting about price and blending I did like the product but mmm…probably not enough to repurchase it as I do think there are better stains around.
It’s worth checking out for yourself as you may just fall in love with it! As for me I’ll use this up and be on my way to the next great stain!
I’m still on my special Target kick so today I’ll be reviewing Pixi Lip Blush! More Lip Stain! W00t! Excited? I am!
Long Wearing? Check.
Find it cheap elsewhere? Definitely!
Pixi Lip Blush is sadly not the innovative product of the year as it’s been done over and over and over again by many a fine company! And actually, thinking back, it actually failed with every company that every put out a product like it.
What is it?
It’s a magic marker….you know like the ones you used in grade school to color on walls, kitchen counters, and other places your mum would give birth to a cow over! Remember those days!? Fun!
Basically it’s a marker that you can use to add a beautiful pop of color to lips! The formula is extra pigmented and super long wearing which makes it not for everyone simply because it does lend a certain kool-aid smile to the lips! This could be considered sexy by some and just plain weird by others! The Muse prefers her lippie products bold and vibrant so she actually likes the loudness of the color! A little Pixi Lip Blush, a bit of clear gloss and you’ll be good for hours on end…even after your gloss long wears off you’ll be sporting a killer lip look!
The product lasts literally for ever…on your lips and the actual product…as in it’ll keep going and going and going..for years if you so please! It doesn’t dry up and it doesn’t wear down like your favorite lipstick…it has a tendency to last for quite a while! How do I know? I’ve tried similar products from mark, Urban Decay, Bourjois and Sephora and they have all lasted me well over a year!
It’s $18 USD and as we already know and established I’m not loving an $18 USD price tag at Target…mmmmmmm…dunno why…not sure the mentality behind it…but dishing out $18 bucks at Target makes me cry for my mommy!
Urban Decay started this craze a few years ago and it didn’t last and soon after mark and Sephora did their version and again it didn’t last so honestly I don’t see this lasting either. Reason? I don’t think many people actually like the idea of such a bold, unnatural shade on the lips! If your makeup lends itself to the gothic lolita (FRUiTS may appreciate it as well) side you can definitely dig this but honestly if you’re not up for “doll-like” cosmetics I’m doubtful you’ll want to give this a try! Which is why I personally think every company has failed with these.
Now…if Pixi and the other companies I mentioned did softer shades with less pigmentation they’d have a total winner on their hands but taking into consideration that the shades are highly pigmented and loud…def a loser!
All in all I loved Pixi Lip Blush! It applies awesome, has amazingly long wear on the lips, and it suits me wonderfully well…no likey the price though! I tried the shade Love with is a rather loud off orange shade! Suits me wonderfully well with a bit of peach blush, I’m rocking it! I’ve heard some people complain sometimes about how lip markers dry their lips out but I’ve never experienced this problem.
I’d prob buy it again if I seen it on sale but wouldn’t bother if it kept the $18 USD price tag! Yup, loves stains like this but it’s about the principal of walking into Target and paying less while getting more not vice versa!
So cheers on an awesome product but boo on a big price tag!
If you’re wanting some at a cheaper price you can scour the bowels of evil-bay (where all dead makeup goes to rest in peace!) and get yourself some of the mark, Sephora, and Urban Decay markers at really great prices.
How about you?
Have you tried the Pixi line at Target?
