Prescriptives In Bloom Spring Collection holds a special place in my heart this season as the colors are quite Spring-like and particularly pretty. The packaging on Prescriptives In Bloom Collection is truly fitting for the season ahead with it’s sweet blossoming flower design!
Prescriptives is always a fond favorite season after season for offering a great selection of both warm and cool looks. I love that they take the time out to release two very different color selections that are suitable for warmer and cooler tones or for those who prefer both a warm and a cool look.
Jump ahead to learn more about the cooler side of Prescriptives In Bloom Spring Collection for 2009.
As I mentioned above the Prescriptives In Bloom Collection consists of cooler and warmer shades. Today I’ll be reviewing the cooler shades of the collection but let’s take a brief second to look at what was released.
Four brand new palettes currently available in two shades each for both warm and cool.
And two new blush palettes are available in one shade each:
Each collection creates a warmer or cooler look or mix and match to create your perfect Spring look! Both the shadow duos and blushers are a reasonable $24 USD each so you’re not breaking the bank picking up some of the collection. Love, love the packaging on these. It’s a flip top, magnetic compact with a hard case, large mirror inside, and a brilliant pink, red, and orange blooming flower on the lid.
The Prescriptives In Bloom Eye Color Duo in Petunia contains a delicate pale pink shade with a contrasting darker pink almost mauve color. The best way to apply is to use the lightest shade as an all over color wash and follow up using the darker shade in the v of the eye and blending into the crease to contrast with the lighter pink. Line the lower lash line with the pale pink and apply a light layer of the darker mauve shade on top! Of course, you can get a few different looks from the palette by combining or using the shades by themselves. Pigmentation is very good on both shades and the shadows have a silky, soft formula that blends very well.
The Prescriptives In Bloom Blush Duo contains two shades of contrasting blush colors one of which is a deep rose shade and the other softer pink with touches of peach. You can easily use the shades separate but I think swirling your blush around in both creates a deeper shade of pink with a tiny hint of peach that’s quite lovely all it’s own.
The look I designed below was done by using the Prescriptives In Bloom Eye Color Duo in Petunia
and the Prescriptives In Bloom Blush Duo in Fresh Pink
Overall, I absolutely loved the cooler side of the Prescriptives In Bloom Collection and think it’s well worth checking out. I can’t think of better colors that are suitable for the Spring weather than these!
I’ll try to get to a counter soon to see if I can pick up the warmer shades as I know some of you requested both a warm and a cool look so do keep your eyes on this space for an update soonish!
Prescriptives In Bloom is available now at www.prescriptives.com or at your local Prescriptives counter.
Prescriptives made a wise choice dubbing it’s new primer “Flawless Face” as it indeed delivers on the promise of a flawless face.
The Muse has been burnt by primers before and particularly isn’t a fond fan of Smashbox Photofinish. Can you say itchy and acne? Ack! I normally chalk up almost all primers and compare them to Smashbox Photofinish which makes me generally wary of attempting to test any out but I’m sure glad I said yes to Prescriptives Flalwess Face Primer as indeed it’s a great find!
I don’t need a primer to cover lines or pores but I do need one to help keep my foundation fresh, aid my foundation to apply easily, and allow my foundation to look flawless when on. Prescriptives Flawless Face Primer does all three quite successfully!
I hate silicon based primers since they tend to pill on my face and also cause me to itch and break out. Pilling, if you’re not familiar with the word, is an effect of product coming off the skin in little rolls and clumps that resembles skin…yuk! Eye creams are legendary for pilling and primers in my case as well. Prescriptives does have a bit of silicon feel to it’s formula but it manages to feel moisturizing when applied and does not pill. This is oil free so it absorbs easily without leaving behind a greasy feeling or causing itching and acne later on!
The primer gives skin a smooth, even texture to allow foundation to apply easily and seamlessly while making it last longer. It’s quite thick so it should work quite well at filling pores, fine lines, and other problem areas you might have. For me it’s a combination product as it acts as a primer but also illuminates my face due to it’s pearl like finish. I really like this one and I imagine I’ll repurchase it once I’m done.
Overall, the product allows my foundation to glide on easily, keeps my foundation fresh for 2 to 3 hours longer than usual, and allows my face to look flawless and perfect so indeed it keeps many of the promises it makes.
Who should try it?
- Anyone will large pores, fine lines, or imperfections that need extra prepping prior to foundation use.
- Those who desire a flawless, even complexion.
- Anyone who wants their foundation to look and stay fresh for hours on end.
Prescriptives Flawless Face Primer is $27.50 USD and available now from www.prescriptives.com

With all the new plastic applicators coming out all over the mascara world sometimes you might want kick it old school with a simple, mess-free, easy to apply brush applicator.
Ahhh remember the days of old when brushes were so hip and everyone was using ‘em? The mascara world is slowly being dominated by combs, plastic brushes, and other interesting gadgetry to bring tech and awesomeness to mascaras far and wide!
Now the Muse loves all the high tech mascaras currently available on the market today but if you’re wanting to keep to the basics, you might want to try out Prescriptives False Eyeslashes Mascara. Prescriptives keeps it simple with a standard, large brush applicator that’s meant to give the appearance of false lashes. Aside from the otherworldly appearance of the mascara packaging there isn’t much in the ways of bells and whistles when it comes to this particular Prescriptives mascara and sadly I wasn’t treated to the appearance of falsies after using it however it does stand up there on it’s own and delivers length and volume to lashes.
If you’re looking for a standard mascara that’s pretty much mess-free without the drama or learning curve of a brand new, high tech applicator this is for you. The Muse doesn’t prefer something with a bit more kick but she recommends this one if you’re looking for simplicity!
Prescriptives currently has this in a kit which also includes a basecoat and eye makeup remover! The entire kit is $26 USD and is tucked in a cute silver makeup pouch! So if you’re wanting to try this out you might want to snag the kit and save a few bucks plus get some other nice goodies to try out!

I’m not Muse Approving this for purchase simply because it’s a pretty basic mascara and the Muse kinda digs new and exciting applicators however I did think it was well worth a mention for those who are a tad bit scared of the new applicators out on the market today or those who aren’t so fab at mascara application. This is a nice, basic, mess-free mascara that offers good volume and length to lashes without all the who-ha that comes attached to newer mascaras.

Continuing my concealer coverage I’ve been trying out Prescriptives Flawless Skin Total Protection Concealer. Now not all of my concealers contain SPF so I was quite delighted when I noticed that Prescriptives Flawless Skin Total Protection Concealer had an SPF of 25. I’m sitting and raking my brain (which isn’t working very well the past week or so) trying to recall a single concealer in my arsenal that sports such a high SPF 25 and I can’t think of a single one…..Hmmmm….I love the fact that it conceal and offers SPF for my delicate eye area! Sweet!
If you’re a fan of Benefit Boi-ing (the Muse’s holiest of holy grail concealers) this is pretty comparable in formula and coverage. Taking into consideration that Bobbi Brown’s line up of concealers is highly moisturizing and emollient you may seek something a bit more drier in texture if you’re skin is oily or you’re just not loving a formula such as Bobbi’s. Prescriptives Flawless Skin Total Protection Concealer is quite a good deal drier but still manages to remain creamy while offering medium to full coverage. If you love Benefit Boi-ing but you are finding coverage isn’t enough or disappointed that it’s only available in three shades this would be a good duplicate with more color options and just about the same formula plus pigmented enough to hide all your woes.
I actually loved this as it creates good flawless coverage under my eyes without creasing, pilling, or fading. It pretty much lasts all day with little to no touch ups in between. Sadly, if I don’t prep properly it does have a nasty habit of drying my eye area out drastically which is the reason I stopped using Boi-ing. I’m unsure if I’d recommend it for older eyes, fine lines, or dry eyes as the formula can age eyes if you haven’t properly prepped. I think it blends quite well but I really do need to moisturize heavily with both an eye cream and a serum prior to use. I’ll continue using the compact I currently have but I probably will debate with myself should I need to repurchase just because my eyes are so terribly dry and can’t take this particular formula. I so love my Benefit Boi-ing and I honestly felt like the Prescriptives Flawless Skin Total Protection Concealer was a near perfect dupe for it…mmmm..if we can just have a bit more of a creaminess to the formula that may help solve the problem of my dry under eye woes!
All in all I’d recommend checking this out if you have normal to oily skin minus any dryness. I think coverage is excellent for hiding small to large problems. It does a great job of refreshing the eye area and making it brighter and more awake.

Say Hello to my wake me up before I go, go fragrance!
Oh my god can I tell you my sister and I missed the boat with George Michael! We so didn’t know he was gay until around 2000…what the hell? I attract gay men like a magnet why didn’t I know about this? I think it was that Father Figure video that fooled us! All that sex couldn’t be acted! Turns out it could be….darn….I can’t lie and say we weren’t disappointed (this was at the point where George Michael was hot sex on wheels of course) however it does open a new door for me as now I so want to be BFF’s with George Michael! I know he’d just love my taste in fragrance…and cosmetics….and we could wear each others fabulous clothes, actually I could wear his fabulous clothes…I’m unsure if my closet holds anything fabulous….
I was about to tell you all about my new love, Prescriptives Calyx! Oh my god such a refreshing, tart, gorgeous wake me up scent! I haven’t really been in touch with Prescriptives fragrances since Flirt! Remember Flirt? It was my favorite perfume evers way back in the day but it can easily be replaced by Prescriptives Calyx…way betters people!
The exhilarating tangy, tartness of Calyx totally appeals and is exactly what I’ve been searching for in a fragrance forever. Something fun, upbeat, really refreshing, with just the right amount of pop! The notes include a blend of grapefruit (very dominant note), mandarin, tropical passion fruits, mango, papaya, and guave. Fruitylicious! I think the grapefruit successfully dominates the other notes in the blend to create a really refreshing fragrance that has a huge twang to it! Other notes include florals such as rose, lily, jasmin, and marigold and base notes of oakmoss, sandalwood, and vertiver. Personally I get a dominant note of grapefruit with a hints of lily and a shot of vetiver which makes this very tart.
I simply love this one and can’t say enough good things about it! I highly recommend trying it out for yourself if you like tart, fruity blends with a tiny hint of floral. Sounds weird combining lily with grapefruit but I promise it creates an interesting blend that’s sure to please!
I’m telling you about Prescriptives Calyx today because Prescriptives currently has some great gifts available and Calyx happens to make a guest starring appearance in one of the gifts being offered!
The Prescriptives Calyx Collection is $47.50 USD and includes the following:
Full Size Calyx
Travel Size Calyx Body Lotion
Travel Siz Calyx Purse Spray
and a silver Perscriptives bag with all of your Calyx goodies tucked inside!
The set is available for a limited time so you might want to grab it for yourself or as a gift while the getting is good as I’m sure it won’t be around after the Holidays! I’m thinking of grabbing one for my friend Jenn since we are scent twins! Snag yours by visiting the Prescriptives website!
This one is very Muse Approved! I think you’ll love it if you’re seeking out that wake me up before you go, go blend! And I promise George would so love it!
