The Muse brought you news of possibly no Sephora Friends and Family for this year yesterday! She was crushed to share such devastating news! She did her homework and called and emailed all the right people and they all said the same thing…”Nope, no Friends and Family this year, sorry!”
But the Muse wasn’t feeling right at all about this so she decided to take things up a notch and she e-mailed a rather lovely person. The lovely person replied quite promptly and sent the Muse a very happy little e-mail back!
And here…the Muse is…to save the day and possibly your Holiday Season too.
The Muse brings you….with much happiness…news of Sephora Friends and Family 2008!
Phew…thank god….this Muse was more than a little worried yesterday!
You may all rejoice now!
Whoa major crushing news guys!
A kind reader of mine, Kayvid, pointed out that she had heard a few people mentioning that Sephora Friends and Family Discount is off the table this year.
And she’s right.
Kayvid mentioned that she had heard this from a few beauty addicts who had been emailing back and fourth with Sephora SA’s. I decided to take that one step further so I called……three times to be sure…..
I was checking out my Sephora account and I noticed that they have spruced up the site with the Holiday theme plus they are adding new beauty items quite quickly including the Guerlain Midnight Butterfly Collection. Of course, this got me excited as normally this means that the Friends and Family promo is around the corner. I took note that my first promo order placed last year was November 7th, 2007.
I decided I might as well call and ask after Friends and Family this year. Honestly, Kayvid’s news didn’t worry me too much as I figured it was just Sephora’s way of keeping it on the low down.
But turns out she’s very right.
According to the three seperate reps I spoke to they won’t be opening the Friends and Family discount out to the public this year. SA’s in store will receive seperate codes that they can use one time each. I asked the reps if that meant if I could ask a SA for a code and she said most likely not as the reps would be using those codes for their own friends and family and not giving them out to the general public.
Last week, quite a few people got various codes in the mail for dollar amounts off of orders and percentages. I was lucky enough to get a 15% off my total order code which I posted here. Honestly, this should have been a key clue what was going on!
After my discussion with the reps it seems MAYBE they’ll send out a second round of coupons but at this time I’m only guessing at this.
Let’s keep our fingers crossed that I’m terribly wrong about all this and that Sephora Friends and Family 2008 goes on as planned but at this point I’m somewhat doubtful!

If you don’t want to wait for the Sephora Friends and Family discount to start in November you can go ahead and start your shopping early and save 15% off your total order by using promo code 4QDZFB63
I think Sephora is randomly sending deals out to various Beauty Insiders so check your inbox for your deal!
UPDATE: Sorry guys! I believe this was a one time offer so some lucky reader snatched it up! Don’t be too sad though as Sephora Friends and Family is just around the corner and that’s a nice discount to be had! Do check your e-mail inbox as maybe one of these codes is sitting and waiting for you!
Big applause Sephora! It’s nice to see you extending your very popular Lash Stash to include a slew of new mascaras, the Muse Approves!
Early July, Sephora released it’s first version of The Lash Stash Set for $28 USD which included seven samples of mini mascaras. After the math each mascara worked out to $4 USD each which was a rather awesome price and ideal for trying out several different mascaras before committing yourself to a single full size at prices ranging from $17-$28 USD.
The price went up slightly with the brand new version released recently however the actual cost per mascara went down. The current deal features ten mascaras at the price of $35 USD which works out to $3.50 USD per a mascara.
The kit includes mini versions of the following mascaras:
Smashbox Bionic Mascara
Sephora Atomic Volume Mascara
Vincent Longo The Curl mascara
Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes 4-in-1 Mascara
Too Faced Lash Injection Pin Point Mascara
Make Up For Ever Smoky Lash Mascara
Urban Decay Big Fatty Mascara
DuWop Lash Venom Mascara
Korres Deep Colour Mascara
Cargo Texas Lash Mascara
If the list above is anything to go by they covered quite a few brands of mascara in the kit!
If you’re the type of person who can’t make up their mind and wants it all then this kit would be for you or if you’re wanting to try out a few mascara before making the commitment to one then, again, this would be an ideal item to purchase!
All in all a rather great little kit!
The Muse likey!

How exciting! I just noticed Sephora is now carrying Dylan’s Candy Bar Re-Treat!
I’ve been to Dylan’s a few times as we have one here in the city and it’s truly quite a funky, fun experience! The line includes, obviously, candy, accessories, and bath and body goodies with a candy/foody theme!
The only items that Sephora are carrying are the Bath and Body items but that’s still pretty cool as the line is quite fun and it’s not too badly priced either.
Although I love the idea that Sephora has brought the brand in I am highly doubtful it will remain for long and I picture it ending up 50% off in 6 months to a year. As we know, think Jessica Simpson’s Dessert line, candy and food theme Bath and Body items and perfumes do not do well at Sephora. The only line that has successfully fit into this niche market would be Philosophy with the Three in One Shower Gels that are so popular with the Muse and the masses!
I imagine that Dylan’s Candy Bar Re-Treat is taking the place of Sugar Cosmetics who’s demise is currently happening at Sephora as all of it is marked down 50%!
I suspect we’ll see a few more new brands make an appearance as the Holiday sets in and January closes in. I don’t see a slew of new brands popping up but maybe two or three from now up till January!
Which is good news as it’ll mean more sales for us!
Anyway……more about Dylan’s…..
Dylan’s Candy Bar Re-Treat consists of a body scrubs, lotions, shower gels, and other candy and food scented bath and body treats!
Some of the items popping up on Sephora are:
Dylan’s Candy Bar Re-Treat Coconut Bon Bon Collection Prices Range from $8-$22 USD
Strawberry Licorice Soda Pop Shower Gel $16 USD
Candy Lip Saver Stackable Lip Balm $30 USD
Birthday Cake Batter Candy Butter Cream $22 USD
I personally haven’t tried anything from Dylan’s aside from the candy hehe but now that the bath and body line has hit Sephora you can count the Muse curious! I love really sweet candy, foody scents so this completely appeals to me!
I may check it out!
How about you?
