Fall Collections 2011

Maybelline Eye Studio Color Explosion Eye Shadow is testimony to the fact that you can find Japanese style eyeshadow at your drugstore. When Maybelline ventured into their Eye Studio Collection in late 2009 beginning of 2010 it was a step in a new direction for drugstore eyeshadows.
Let’s face it, can you name a ton of eyeshadows that you’d buy at the drugstore that are actually GOOD?
I can’t sadly. Most are chalky and sadly, lacking. However, drugstore makeup is slowly making small steps towards successfully creating wearable makeup but with those steps comes a huge jack up in price too but I don’t mind, I’ll pay more if I’m getting a quality product.
Eye Studio Plush Silk Eyeshadow Quads from Maybelline were a step in the right direction. Some folks hated these, I personally loved them….speaking as a fan of Japanese brands these are some of the closet style of shadow formula you’ll get in North America that mimic the formula and texture of an Asian eyeshadow purchased in an Asian Drugstore abroad…!
The new range of Maybelline Eye Studio Color Explosion Eye Shadow are pretty much spot on the same concept. These released earlier this year in the UK and they finally popped up on our shores a few short months ago.
Are they any good?

When it comes to fragrances my tastes run a little immature. I like sweet, playful, but never sophisticated.
Sometimes…
My inner kid demands a break and that’s when my more mature fragrances from Annick Goutal, Thierry Mugler, etc…come out to play!
My current big girl fragrance of choice? The debut fragrance from Elie Saab.

Anyone haul anything from Sonia Kashuk Target Fall 2011 Collection as of yet? Outside of the new palette and lash curler I skipped up on the brush sets, I have too many already….! But they are a pretty tweed print and if you’re in need of some inexpensive brushes these are the way to go in my humblest.
Take a look!

Some girls are Shiseido Maquillage girls, some girls aren’t. I happen to be in the “aren’t group”. I dunno why but I’ve never fully embraced the Shiseido Maquillage line.
Shiseido Maquillage is a sub-brand from Shiseido available in Japanese drugstores (and a few select Asian countries as well). Quality is on par with counter makeup and the brand has a very large cult following however I’ve always dabbled my time away with other Shiseido sub-brands like Majolica Majorca.
Recently, my interest did get piqued again (it does sometimes with Maquillage) and I decided to haul some of the new Essence Glamour Rouges.
Let’s take a look!

Clinique has joined the realms of BB Creams being released in North America. Thus far we’ve seen BB Creams from Smashbox, Boscia, Dr. Jart, and MAC.
I’ve noticed a few main differences with BB Creams here in the US versus the many I’ve tried here from Asia, these differences include:
- Lower SPF (15 to 30 but no higher)
- Lack of anti-aging ingredients
- No whitening properties
- No Acne, skin treatment ingredients
- Lack of pigment
Of course, these things are to me what makes up a good Asian BB Cream however, North American standards are somewhat different particularly when addressing whitening ingredients, this is understandable and the lack of such an option in our BB Creams can be overlooked but other things such as anti-aging ingredients, lower SPF, etc…is rather disappointing.
Clinique released it’s BB Cream in Asia several months ago and most recently we are able to purchase it here in the US.
Let’s take a look at Clinique Age Defense BB Cream and see if it lives up to Asian standards.

Jill Stuart released five shades of her newest product, Prism Carat Eye, in Japan for Fall 2011 recently. I decided I absolutely needed a few of these since I happen to be a shimmer-a-holic and boy did these scream shimmer.
I started out with two but my best friend absolutely had to have one so I gifted him with it and later, after I completed this review, he ended up inheriting the other one as well as I simply didn’t end up liking the product and a club kid like him will make way better use of it than I will.
Brace yourself, you REALLY need to love shimmer to get on board with this one.

As far as I’m concerned matte lipstick is the devil’s work! That shiz is all kinds of hard for me to pull off! But I was every so tempted by NARS Pure Matte Lipstick shade in Montego Bay for Fall 2011.
I picked it up during a recent Sephora haul and I sure am glad I did.
