The Laura Mercier Cinema Noir for Fall 2012 Collection will be launching in July (Fall Collections? Already?).
Laura’s inspiration for her Fall 2012 Collection draws from her background as a fine art painter and focuses on the mood and attitude of women through different art periods. For the fall season, Laura was inspired by Hollywood stars in the late 1940’s—the era when black and white film transitioned into colour. This classic period featured intellectual beauties like Ingrid Bergman, Katherine Hepburn and Rita Hayworth, and their signature looks in films had a sensual quality—slightly colourized, sexy yet subdued. The overall cinematic feeling is one of vintage charm, strong romanticism and an ultra-feminine appeal.
With MAC officially releasing Hey, Sailor on today (although it has been online for a while now) I was musing over what Summer Collections I’m most excited about.
Since Urban Decay hasn’t really introduced a Summer 2012 Collection outside of their new eyeshadow system (what did you think of their newly revamped shadow collection?) I was kinda sorta hopeful we might see something else from the brand as we head deeper into Summer.
Or are you just skipping Summer and heading right into Fall?
Which Summer 2012 Collections are you fancying at the moment?
The upcoming NARS Andy Warhol Collection won’t launch until October but I’m positive NARS fans want details as soon as possible so here’s a little teaser video with hints at the pop culture aesthetic of the upcoming collection.
Which Warhol character do you think will make an appearance in the collection?
What parallels do you see between Andy and our founder François?
Are you excited about this collection?
Do share!
I like the contrast of silver balloons and the sudden unexpected splash of fuchsia as the end but the video is a BIG tease as this really gives nothing away!
MAC announces a collaboration with Carine Roitfeld this morning. The Carine Roitfield for MAC Collection will be launching sometime this Fall 2012 and will be a limited edition color collection with fashion visionary and muse Carine Roitfeld fronting the campaign.
Carine collaborated on all creative aspects of the collection including package design, product names and colour palettes. The MAC Carine Roitfeld Collection features 20 pieces with a focus on eyes and brows that reflect Carine’s signature look of a smoky eye, bold brows and nude lips.
A specially created Good Luck Star stencil makes its debut and can be seen in the collection image for which Carine was photographed by Mario Sorrenti. This marks the first time MAC has worked with the legendary photographer.
This collection will be created by François Nars under a license with The Andy Warhol Foundation.
According to WWD, “it is intended to evoke the cool, image-rich, character-laden world of Warhol”.
The collection will launch in October.
Official word comes from NARS today confirming that the collection will indeed be created but no word on colors so I’ll update you as news becomes available.
Andy Warhol never particularly struck a chord in me so I’m unsure how I feel about this collection. I’ll have to see it before I make my final decision.
