Holiday Collections 2008
By the Muse on November 25, 2008
The new Art Deco Holiday Collection entitled Glamour Avantgarde has launched on the Art Deco website. It all looks rather stunning and the Muse feels quite a bit of excitement over all the gorgeous goodies!
Where as many collections concentrate on either a gold or a silver look for the holidays, Art Deco took it a step further and introduced both gold and silver to create a stunning, contrasting, shimmering look that totally appeals to this Muse! I do think I might splurge out on a majority of this collect as I truly can’t resist the shimmer and just the overall chic, elegant feel of it. The stars of the collection are a highlighting loose powder and a highlighting pressed powder. The pressed powder is made up of dusky rose and brown shimmering shades and is quite reminiscent of the powder included with the new Magie Deco Holiday Coffret which I’ll be reviewing for you shortly. The Art Deco Glamorous Mineral Powder is supposely a warm apricot shade with a subtle shimmer that creates a warm glow to your face.
The following items are being released with Art Deco Glamour Avantgarde:
3 Art Deco Shimmering Shadows
Glam Granite Grey
Glam Red Violet
Glam Petrol Blue
1 New Shade of Art Deco Glam Stars Liquid Eye Liners
Petrol
2 Shades of Art Deco Diamond Lashes
Silver
Gold
4 Shades of Art Deco Shimmer Lipstick
Fresh Fuchsia Shimmer
Rose Shimmer
Pomegranate Shimmer
Nude Shimmer
Art Deco Glamorous Highlighter
Art Deco Glamorous Mineral Powder
As you can see the collection looks stunning! I can’t verify prices on any of the items as the site never lists them. Sadly, the entire collection is available within Europe only (Sweden, Germany, Etc…) so if you’re wanting it you’ll have to arrange for a CP on MUA or a cosmetic forum. I do think it’s well worth hunting out as it looks quite lovely. You may just see a review of this from the Muse shortly as I do see a few items that have caught my fancy!

Ok so check it.
Avon has released a brand new lipstick entitled Avon Color Rich 24K Gold Lipstick which contains shimmering gold flecks!
Likey.
The price is $4.99 USD each!
Likey some more!
I know, I know you must have noticed by now that I’m suddenly Avon’s biggest cheerleader but I honestly can’t help myself as they have introduced some sincerely lovely items lately that are pretty high quality plus inexpensive!
I’m highly interested in trying out the new Avon Color Rich 24K Gold Lipstick as hey, it has gold in it…do I need any other excuse to want it?
I seen at least 6 shades I wanted and at the price I can totally afford to nab ‘em all if I so want! They even have a shade entitled 24K…well hello gorgeous! I mainly have my eye on Golden Wine which looks simply stunning. Click to check out the luscious shades!
Hopefully I’ll bring a review to you shortly on these!

The Bourjois Paris Japanese portal has been updated with the Holiday Collection which will be debuting on November 27th.
I think the collection is being released within Europe and Asia obviously but not within the US sadly.
It includes three shades of Bourjois Paris Liner Glitter Fizz, four shades of Bourjois Paris Eye shadows which appear to have a a healthy dose of shimmer in the formula, and a gorgeous pendant with lip gloss.
OooOoooo pretty shimmers!
The liners are 1,575 yen each, the shadows are 1,990 yen each, and the gloss pendant is 2,625 yen. The prices are considerably higher and I’m guessing you’ll find these in your local Boots (if you live across the pond that is) for a tiny bit less.
The entire line up looks lovely and I think I’d like to try out a liner, some of the shadows, and of course I want the pendant! Hopefully I’ll have a review of the new items shortly! I’ll also be bringing you a review of the new Bourjois Paris Liner Effect Mascara and the Bourjois Paris New Brush Foundation shortly!
What do you think of the new Bourjois Paris Holiday Collection 2008?
Wish it was making an appearance with the US?

The Muse is all about Chanel today! She was saving this post for a rainy day but she’s feeling rather generous so today she’ll bring you a review of Chanel Poudre Precieuse aka Chanel Gold Highlighting Powder aka holy cow this is expensive and so worth it!
Yes indeed the Muse skipped down to Nordie’s a few weeks ago and purchased Chanel Gold Highlighting Powder for $75 USD…….I can hear the cries of agony, the sighs of pain, the shouts of “but what about tightening your belt Muse! The economy is at war with itself!”.
Yes, yes I know the price is pretty high but I dare you…I double dog dare you to head into Nordie’s…look at the powder…and deny yourself. Go on do it. I’ll wait here until you get back…..bet you’ll be carrying a shopping bag with your Chanel Gold Highlighting Powder tucked up inside when you do get back!
To justify the cost we should all remind ourselves that this is a huge old pot of delicious, sparkling, shimmering, ridiculously luscious gold powder. Am I tempting you yet? This is a large jar so it’s not as if you’re paying $75 USD for a dinky little jar of gold powder…..there’s enough gold powder inside to last you a few decades if not more…..see? I’m justifying why you should be dishing out your $75 bucks for this!
On top of being some of these most gorgeous gold powder I’ve ever laid eyes on, it also happens to multitask as a face, eye, and body powder! For my FOTD I used Chanel Poudre Precieuse Gold Highlighting Powder on my eyes, my cheeks, and I sprinkled a tiny bit on my lashes when they were still wet with mascara for a bit of a golden gleam!
The powder is silky smooth and beautifully pigmented. You can build color up for an intense sparkling effect or a very subtle golden glow, the choice of how much to use is entirely up to you. This comes with a large silky brush that fits the contours of my cheeks perfect and allows for evenly distributing the powder across my face and if I’m using it on my body the extra large brush allows me to sweep it on evenly for a perfect golden glow!
Do you need it? Yes. I’m passionate about gold powders and eye shadows and honestly this is some of the best I’ve come across in all my year’s of collection cosmetics! The gold sparkle is simply divine and allows for a sophisticated sparkle or a really vibrant burst of gold! Who doesn’t want a bit of golden sparkle during the Holiday season? Is it worth the price? Yes, for sure considering how large a jar you’ll be getting and how much product is inside plus it’s ability to multitask as a body, cheek, hair, eye, etc…product makes the $75 USD price tag very worth it.
All in all Chanel Poudre Precieuse Gold Highlighting Powder is on my Holiday Collection Favorite’s List and I’m happily Muse Approving it for purchase! If you’ve been denying yourself all season long now is a great time indulge in a gorgeous powder to make yourself beautiful and more importantly, sparkly for the Holidays!
As I mentioned above for my look below I used the powder as an eyeshadow, some on my cheeks, and a bit sprinkled on my lashes!

Majolica Majorca has updated it’s website with it’s new Holiday story, I Am Gorgeous. CLICK! The only site updated is the main Japanese portal as the official street date for the collection is the 21st and taking into consideration at the moment it’s the 21st already in Japan, it’s pretty logical the site has been updated accordingly! When other Asian countries will get the release is beyond this Muse but I’m sure it’ll shortly be available within Singapore, Taiwan, Etc…and followed up a few months down the line in other locations (aside from the US where we get NONE of the good stuff SIGH! RANT!).
I’m very excited about this collection although that’s not saying much as I’m always excited when Majolica Majorca updates it’s site. The Holiday Collection does look interesting to say the least and I’ll be partaking of everything released with it!
I think the star of the show are the new Majolumina Powder in Puffs. I’m normally not a fan of powders that are in the puff already but I am very curious about these and will be purchasing both as the price of 1,300 yen or so is truly a bargain!
Although I’m not the biggest fan of Majolica Majorca Gorgeous Wing Mascara I will be purchasing the new version released with the I Am Gorgeous Collection. The color is a orangy-bronze-gold brown which looks very nice!
And finally two new Majolook palettes! Yay! I’m looking forward to these! Again, not a big fan of the base cream shade but the trio of powder shades looks simply amazing so, I for one, am very happy about the return of Majolook and glad they didn’t do more Trick On Palettes for this reason! Honestly, BR788 looks very similar to a palette I already have but I’m all for getting this anyway!
All in all it looks like a very promising selection of items. They extended the line a tiny bit compared with Holiday 2007 as this year we are getting two powders, two palettes, and a mascara where as last year it was one powder, two palettes, and a mascara. Of course, the Muse is on board and will review this all for you shortly!
The site is very, very lagged at the moment so I recommend checking back later tonight or tomorrow morning to see the updates! The Muse is looking forward to the Singaporean update so I can read the story in English! Once you “find” all the items you’ll have a chance to download the special screen saver! Do grab it as it’s rather cute!
How about you?

Lou Bega needed a little bit of Monica, Erica, Rita, Tina, Sandra, Mary, AND Jessica in his life……
Well hello ladies!
but the Muse thinks all you need in yours is a little bit of Bath and Body Works Twisted Peppermint! I don’t need all the insanity just give me a bit of Twisted Peppermint and we’ll call it a day!
Well ok maybe if you said I need a little bit of John, David, Lee, Benoît, Colin, Mathew, and Robert in my life I’d be all over it like wild fire! I’d hit these!
Well HELLO boys!
Damn I guess we should prob settle on the Bath and Body Works Twisted Peppermint considering it’s readily available! This isn’t the first time you’ll hear me rave and celebrate the goodness that is Twisted Peppermint so get used to it! It’s going to be a long month full of Twisted Peppermint goodness and the Muse’s love affair with it.
My latest find is the huge, jumbo Bath and Body Works Soap and Lotion Caddy! Score! This duo comes in a cute silver caddy and includes a jumbo size of Bath and Body Works Hand Soap in Twisted Peppermint plus a matching lotion!
Loves it!
The Muse is feeling all Christmas-like every time she washes her hands now! I have one of these caddies in each of the bathrooms in my house plus in my kitchen and one of the larger lotions by my bedside! It’s Twisted Peppermint insanity at the Muse’s house! I even grabbed a few to store away to last me all Winter long when Twisted Peppermint makes it’s exit after the Holiday season is over! This is the first time that Twisted Peppermint has been available in hand wash and hand lotion format so of course I’m all over it! Twisted Peppermint is a twisted cocktail of soft vanilla mixed up with a wintery mix of cooling peppermint! Mmmmm likey!
You can nab the caddy for $15 USD but the Muse got most of hers on sale by using coupons so the most she paid is about $8 USD which is a total deal! Bath and Body Works seems to be extra giving with the coupons this year!
Right now you can nab these caddies for $15 USD plus an additional caddy for 50% off but you can always wait and see what other sales pop up! Last year I remember they had these in Candy Apple and a few other Holiday scents at a whooping 75% off so if you wait you can score a deal or two!
The Muse thinks that Bath and Body Works Twisted Peppermint should make an appearance on your wishy list this season and it’s definitely Muse Approved for purchase! A Muse staple item all the way!

Bobbi Brown Copper Diamond Collection really caught the Muse’s eye this season with the introduction of the beautiful Bobbi Brown Copper Diamond Shimmer Brick. Also released with this collection are brand new, limited edition Bobbi Brown Glitter Lip Balms.
Of course the Muse is all about glitter so she must have some glittery lip balms for her lips! Sadly, after trying out these balms I’m somewhat on the fence if I actually like them! I tried the shade Copper Diamond which is a rich brown shade with gold shimmer. I did expect a gritty formula as per the name “glitter lip balm” but thankfully the formula is quite smooth and applies easily. Actually the formula is my main problem with the product, considering it’s a balm it applies as such so it has that slightly waxy feel to it and feels a bit heavy on the lips! In defense of the product you have to take into consideration the fact that it is a balm so it does have the texture of one. I guess I was feeling like it might be a bit more emollient and moisturizing on but that’s not the case. Some tugging and pulling is involved to get it to glide on smoothing but the good news is it is pigmented so one layer of product is plenty! I also wasn’t particularly thrilled with the color as it’s a chocolate brown that wasn’t too flattering on me and the other two shades released don’t look too much better to me so I honestly have no interest in purchasing another shade considering the formula is fab and the shades aren’t either.
All in all if you like the general texture of regular balms you might find this is a product you’ll absolutely love but the Muse wasn’t particularly excited about it after trying it on for size. I’ve had some great experiences with Bobbi Brown lately but the Bobbi Brown Glitter Lip Balm gets a thumbs down for me this time around!
Have you tried these?

Oh my god I love this!
Available exclusively from Nordstrom meet Bare Escentuals Ultimate Indulgence Collection which includes 20 face and eye colors!
The set includes:
14 bareMinerals Eyecolors
1 bareMinerals Liner Shadow
4 bareMinerals All-Over Face Colors
1 bareMinerals Mineral Veil
I think it would be even better if they did just a set with Glimmers! w00t! However, this is still such a nice set but the size makes me wince slightly as it is the smaller 0.01 oz pots but still that’s alot of product in one spot for the price! This is available now at Nordstrom for $75 USD.
I kinda dig it what do you think?

Mmmm the fire in my blood is slowly dying out for Japanese brand Lavshuca. What is going on with these releases lately? They either all have similar colors to previous collections or they just suck in a major way! And hello? How many shades of brown and natural brown can we possibly have? Every single palette has brown, brown, and more brown! What happened to the rather lovely pinks and aquas that Lavshuca used to release?! I know, I know, shocking how candid the Muse is on voicing her opinion when she’s been known to express her undying love and appreciation for all things Lavshuca!
I purchased both coffrets from the Lavshuca Antique Collection for Holiday 2008 and I must say that they are nice but lord knows that the colors are absolutely boring and the same colors released over and over and over again from Lavshuca lately!
The Lavshuca Antique Collection comes in two flavors, Antique Sepia and Antique Monochrome. I’ll be reviewing Antique Sepia today and bringing you Antique Monochrome later this week. Each collection comes housed in a tiny, sturdy cardboard box and includes one Lavshuca Dual Eyeshadow and one Lavshuca Liquid Rouge. I paid retail for each set which was 1,890 yen plus the normal promotional discount (30% or so) that applies to Japanese drugstore cosmetics. I’ve seen the sets on E-bay for around $21 USD plus shipping if you’re wanting to indulge and of course Adams Beauty will probably have them for considerably less so do shop around before settling on one spot to buy from!
I think my two favorite items from the collection are the box and the gloss. Taking into consideration that Lavshuca’s Winter Make palettes were very delicately made last year it came as a shock that the box with this year’s collection is so sturdy and nice. It’s quite a cute little pull out draw that will hold around three or four MAC lipsticks. I was actually expecting something large as the pics make it look HUGE however it is tiny! As you can see below I placed a Clinique eyeshadow palette beside the box to show the size.
The second item that I really enjoyed with the collection was the Lavshuca Liquid Rouge. For some odd reason or another this particular Lavshuca Liquid Rouge seemed to have a bit more sparkle and shimmer than the normal range. The color included with Antique Sepia is a nice beige with golden shimmer and hints of peach! It completes my nude look beautifully when I use the included shadow duo!
The shadow is a bit on the boring side sadly as it includes a rather crummy nude brown shade with hints of gold shimmer and a base color of white gold that contains a bit of sparkle with a slightly iridescent finish. I will say that once I completed my look I did like the effects of combining the beige gloss with the nude eye look however it’s not what I’d want for the Holiday in all honestly. Right now it goes rather well with the Fall weather however I do love a festive eye look come the Holiday that’s vibrant, full of shimmer, and most importantly doesn’t shout natural! The duo is quite tiny and far from regular size. Although the gloss is regular size do brace yourself for a mini shadow!
As you can see below a MAC eyeshadow is even bigger than the little Lavshuca duo!
I did have a hard time deciding how I wanted to use the shadow. Sadly, I don’t read Japanese and the diagrams that I’ve come to rely on, on the back of the package are just never around on Lavshuca packaging. They must do this to irritate me, honestly. Between Jill Stuart and Lavshuca I’m unsure which brand annoys me the most when they fail to include the handy dandy eye diagram most Japanese brands favor on the back of their packaging!
In the end I decided that I’d use the white creamy gold shade as an all over color wash on my entire eye and follow up by blending the brown into my crease and on my lid. The look comes out very natural and yes, I begrudging admit, lovely but I still call it as being hells boring for the Holiday Season! Sorry it is what it is and this doesn’t shout “fun, shimmery Holiday!” to this Muse!
Aside from my major ranting about the shades and the lack of festive feel to the collection I did like the items included and especially enjoyed the very cute packaging! Overall, they are worth picking up if you can nab them at a good price but not so much if you’re paying more than retail!
I’ll give you the good (or bad) word on the second coffret shortly so stay tuned!
How about you?

I think I missed the memo going around saying how freaking aweome Korres is. Um hello how did I not know about this?
Yeah well I’m thinking I didn’t get the memo because this guy is taking care of them!
Source
Anyway. Note to self: Korres is the awesome!
Ok, so now that we established that Korres is my new favorite brand of all time I can get on with my review of the Korres Sugar Plums Gift Set! Holy beautiful Batman! This set is too gorgeous for mere words and what’s inside…my the very my! It’s sincerely good stuff and you shouldn’t bother reading further just head to your nearest Sephora and snatch it up for yourself!
I think a few people had mentioned they were on the bubble about this Gift Set and honestly so was I. I’m guessing a few of your concerns were the fact that plum colored shadow is kinda iffy and you might have also been worried about the gloss not being up to par and the balm just being an add on that you really didn’t need. I know these are some things that entered my head while I was playing a game of tag with myself debating on purchasing the set. My main concern was that I don’t do plums or purples so well! As much as I love these shades I felt like they might make my dark circles prominent and my puffy eyes even worst looking then they already are!
However, I dove in and decided to purchase the Korres Sugar Plum Gift Set during Sephora’s Friends and Family event and I’m so happy I did because it’s a sincerely an awesome set and comes with my highest recommendation and Muse Approval for purchase!
The set includes Korres Eyeshadow in Plum, Korres Lip Butter in Plum, and Korres Cherry Full Color Gloss in Plum 27. All the items are highly pigmented which is thrilling as the an entire “All Natural” theme sometimes forsakes quality but not the case with these items! This is the first time I’ve tried anything by Korres and honestly the quality and inexpensive price tag should have me returning for much more!
Although all the items really impressed me I have to give major props to the Korres Cherry Full Color Gloss in Plum 27 . I’m unsure why they are calling this a lip gloss as it’s SO much more then merely a gloss! The color payoff is much like a lip cream and comparable (and possibly better then) to Laura Mercier’s Lip Velvet. They are glossy but not so much of a mirror shine more like a a semi-glossy, intensely pigmented lip color. Plum 27 is a plummy maroon with a deep red base that’s stunning when paired up with the shadow included in this gift set!
The Korres Eyeshadow in Plum was also richly pigmented and very easy to blend. As I mentioned above I was worried that such a deep shade of purple would make my eyes look quite tired while displaying my dark circles even more but turns out the color lends an aura of mystery and seduction to my eyes. I know, I know Muse and seduction should never be used in the same sentence but honestly the shadow just has a certain sexy, seductive feel that makes eyes literally pop! I used the shade on my own without anything else aside from some black liner on my lower water line and my eyes just sizzled! Truly a great shade and pairs up beautifully with the lip gloss in the kit!
Now the Korres Lip Butter in Plum was the item I was kinda meh about. I honestly don’t use balms aside from when I go to bed at night. I find them messy and feel they apply horribly which is why I stick to applying gobs of balm at night to my lips when no one is around to witness it dripping off my lips onto my chin. Korres may have single handedly turned my thoughts around about balm! Whoa! This too was an amazingly pigmented surprised! The butter smooths on lips like a lip cream and you’re left with a richly pigmented pout which you can top with a bit of gloss for a real smoking lip look!
For my look below I used everything included in the kit and just added my own mascara, a little blush from the Bobbi Brown Mauve Palette, and a bit of liner on my lower waterline!
All in all I’d say nab this set right away! It’s a limited edition set so who knows how long it’ll be around! I think the shades are simply gorgeous evening wear for the holiday or anytime really! The colors just work well together and create a very seductive finish! The price is fantastic at well which is $29.50 USD (I paid even less during Sephora’s FF!). This one is a must have in the Muse’s opinion and I highly recommend nabbing it!

The Muse was thinking she should contact Urban Decay and have this renamed to “The Muse’s Box of Favorite Shadows”….has a certain ring to it dontcha think? Most of the shades included in this palette are my top favs from Urban Decay so it’s super nice having them all tucked away in one palette! Great for travel! Likey!
The palette retails for $36 USD but since it’s 30% Off you’ll get it for $25 USD which is $2.50 USD per a shadow….um can you say super deal? If you’re new to Urban Decay eyeshadow here in lays a great excuse to try the shadows out! The shadows have always been a favorite of mine even way before I was a MAC junkie and they remain on the top of my Must Have At All Costs list (another words if I needed desert island essentials…Urban Decay Eyeshadow comes before food and water!). The shadows are pigmented and contain a super dose of wonderful shimmer!
The palette is carefully constructed to avoid a mess which I can appreciate. It has a slick and beautiful bamboo cover that slides upwards to reveal the shadows. Swatch, swipe, and apply with the included brush (although the brush is a tiny bit small so you might want to use your own brush) and simply slide the cover back into place for storage! The design on the cover is a beautiful floral with butterflies and the Urban Decay logo!
I created three separate looks using the palette but honestly you can get at least twenty separate looks or more if you’re creative!

Honestly, the Urban Decay Sustainable Shadow Box is well worth checking out and Muse Approved for purchase! It’ll make an ideal gift for a makeup lover or seriously you know you so want it for yourself! Rather then purchase each shadow individually might as well indulge in this and get ten super shades plus a Urban Decay Primer Potion!
Sweet!

The Body Shop has updated it’s website with the new holiday collection which includes a slew of new makeup items! In particular the new palettes have caught my eye although they do look somewhat matte I have hopes that the title of the collection “Sparkling Seductive” means that the finish has a sparkle! I’m disappointed I didn’t indulge in last year’s palettes as they were quite nice so I keep hope alive that these are equally as gorgeous!
The palettes are $24.50 USD each and come in two variations with five eyeshadows each. The first palette looks warm and second palette has a cooler, evening feel. I’m partially to the warm one with the gold an coral, very nice!
The collection also includes a sparkle lipgloss in two shades for $16.50 USD each. These aren’t too appealing to me since I’m not big on heavy duty sparkle in my glosses however the dusky rose shade is quite lovely!
The Body Shop Sparkle & Shimmer Powder Puff looks interesting! This one is a loose gold powder that can be used on face, body, or cheeks! Available for $18 USD.
And finally two glitter eyeliners are available for $15.50 USD each.
Although a majority of the collection doesn’t particularly thrill me, I am excited about the palettes and curious about the finish so I will be heading in store to have a little peek for myself!
All in all a rather nice little selection of goodies from The Body Shop!

Oh how I love thee lipgloss let me count the ways!
You come in a wide variety of colors and flavors! You make my lips shiny, glossy, and sometimes even sparkly! You make my lips pop with life and make my teeth look white and bright!
Ahhh gloss…..tis the essence of a beauty junkies life!
That’s why it’s always so exciting when the Holidays roll around and gloss sets start popping up! Variety is the spice of life after all and what better way to get a slew of variety than picking up a gloss gift set from your favorite cosmetic brand!
The Muse was particularly excited about the yummie hues included in the Smashbox Rapture Lip Gloss Set! The set includes six shades of popping lipgloss for the upcoming Holiday season for $29 USD! That’s $4.80 USD per a gloss! Sweet deal right? Plus the shades are some of the best I’ve come across in the world of glossy gift sets!
The kit includes three of Smashbox’s best selling shades plus three holiday exclusive shades! Shades included are as follows:
Radiant (Shimmering Deep Rose)
Illume (Shimmering Beige Gold)
Candid (Shimmering Deep Coral Peach)
Ravishing (Bronze Brown with flecks of Gold)
Stunning (Rosy Fuschia)
Lovely (Pale Peachy Coral)
Although the glosses are super emoilent I do love the fact that are pigmented enough to wear without staining my lips prior. The finish has a slightly hint of shimmer but nothing to dramatic that you’re looking like a disco ball.

All in all the price is quite nice and the selection of colors are amazing which is pretty much what you drew me to the set to begin with. The shades all have a certain coolness about them but can easily be warmed up with a nice blush!
Smashbox Rapture Lipgloss Gift set is available now from www.smashbox.com plus you get Free Shipping on any order and samples! Do check out the rest of the Smashbox Rapture Holiday Collection as the Muse is loving it all!
