Summer Collections 2009
The Muse is boldly going where no Muse has gone before. To the land of nail polish….yes it happens occasionally, the Muse ventures outside her comfort zone and takes on exciting new cosmetics like nail polish.
Remember kids, the Muse knows nothing about nail polish, isn’t an expert of any kind, and is only doing this post for a little fun.

I swear I’m having nightmares someone is going to ask me some techy nail polish question like what finish this is or something equally important and I won’t know how to answer. I’m truly a n00b when it comes to polish (be gentle) so I really can’t review this proper for you however I did want to show you this funky fun shade from the Victoria’s Secret Pool Party Collection I was telling you about last week!
There are a total of four shades available and the one I’m sportin’ today is called Clemenshine. The other shades I didn’t haul but this particular color did appeal for whatever reason so I just snagged it with the rest of my treasures as it seemed such a fun, funky shade for Summer. It’s a bright, true orange so indeed it fairly shouts Summer! These are 3 for $15 which you can mix and match with other items in the collection so I guess not too badly priced? I’m not sure how much does polish cost anyway? I don’t normally buy polish aside from a few select Chanel shades and when I have my weekly pedi I get whatever is hanging out on the rack or I steal something from my sis.
If you’re looking for bold, neon shades this Summer, I’d check these out as they seem quite fresh and fun for the warmer weather.
Hope my first official nail post wasn’t too bad, wink!
The Muse is all about bronzing this Summer. Normally I’m not one for embracing bronzers or tanning in any way, shape, or form but for whatever reason this year the bronzing bug has bit me in the butt and I can’t get enough bronzer in my life. I’m so obsessed that I find myself purchasing tons and tons of different compacts and trying them out for size or heading in store to swatch my little heart out.
For this review the Muse is up for a little Lancaster loving with their super size bronzing compact that I’m lusting at the moment!
Lancaster isn’t as well known in the US as it is Europe however you can find it at your local Lord & Taylor or if you sneak a peep you’ll see it crop up on HSN too! With it’s gorgeous array of jumbo size palettes it’s hard not to notice it, particularly it’s interesting line up of Summer bronzing pieces that make a Muse happy about the sun again, believe me getting excited about tanned skin isn’t easy for this Muse but she can be tempted.
Tempted indeed especially when she comes across great palettes like the Lancaster Sun Carrousel Compact Powder Bronzer. Oh how I love you. This palette combines everything I DO like about bronzers. I like bronzers that give me a soft, peach or coral finish with a hint of bronze and a tickle of pink. For me, bronzer is most flattering when I top it with a hint of pink cheeks. This way I get the best of both a sunny tan on my skin and a hint of pink on my cheekbones that makes all that bronze bearable for the Muse. The Lancaster Sun Carrousel Compact Powder Bronzer combines all that into one. Swirls of pink, bronze, peach, and coral make up this huge palette to create a soft tanned finish to skin with pops of peach and pink for a healthy tanned look. Likey!
The powder is a swirl of various shades which you can use together or separately to create your look. The powder is a matte finish which is great for the shimmer haters amongst us (there aren’t any of those around here though are there? You’d never admit to the Muse you hate shimmer! For shame!). I basically use a tiny kabuki and swirl all the colors together and apply. Afterward I sweep my brush on the pink shade and apply on my finished look. You can use the colors to contour as if you like since the shades range from lighter to darker. The pink shade lends a certain lightness to the completed bronze look which is how I favor my bronzer.
The appeal of the palette is not only it’s beautiful look or how gorgeous it looks on my skin but it’s price tag and size. The palette is huge and should last you a very long time. At $38 USD this is alot of product for the small price tag.
For the bronzer beginner or anyone who doesn’t like bronzers like me, Lancaster Sun Carrousel Compact Powder Bronzer can convert you easily. It leaves behind a flawless look that’s flattering without being too orange or too brown. For anyone who’s a novice to bronzing this a matter of simply sweeping your brush around the palette and buffing on cheeks, done, nothing hard about that.
As you can see below it’s HUGE compared to my itty bitty Urban Decay Baked Bronzer
Overall, it’s price tag, beautiful packaging, and pretty finish on my cheeks makes this Lancaster palette a sure choice for the Muse’s Summer Must Haves! Loves it. Good stuff. Makes bronzing easy without making me too brown or too orange, just a perfect peachy Muse.
Sportin’ Lancaster Sun Carrousel Compact Powder Bronzer
Here’s a quickie sneaky peek at MAC Style Warriors which officially releases May 28th. It’s pretty much widely available everywhere at the moment since it was available for pre-order and MAC had parties and such going on for it’s launch! MAC Pro had it weeks in advance too although I didn’t hope over for a gander, shame on the Muse.
The Muse is hauling more of what was released shortly but this is what she has so far to show you. Just a bit of makeup porn to tide you over until I do my full review!
One thing I love about MAC Style Warriors is that beautiful bronze look but the touches of popping color scattered throughout that break up all that tanned skin. Quite nice!
Two shadows from the collection, Vibrant Grape and Bright Future, are definately just the pop I’m talking about. Bright Future is a loud, buttery yellow and Vibrant Grape is a stunning purple.
Heavy on the bronze cheeks chicas! MAC Style Warriors Bronzing Powder in Solar Riche is a deep, dark bronze shade sure to give a crispy look to skin! As for the Muse she tames it with a little cheek stain thrown under it or sometimes on top so it looks like an interesting bronze, flushed look!
Plenty more bronze where that came from with MAC Blush in Eversun. This one is a little orange, a little brown, and plenty of bronze all mixed in tight. Again, I find it’s best and most flattering for my medium fair skin when I use a touch of cheek stain under suck a bronze color.
For the lips a Brave New Bronze lipstick looks slightly boring but built up it’s a flattering nude peach lip shade.
Not everyone can rightfully pull of purple but Purple Rite may be making a special appearance on your MAC Style Warriors wish list!
Loving MAC Lipglass in Gold Rebel! Such a gorgeous sparkling peachy gold creation. Not so sure about Style Warrior though…whoa…it’s nearly black! Eep!
Now for my favorite part, MAC Lustre Drops! Three colors are available and so far I have one, Bronze Hero. Love, love this product. Great for multitasking as cheek color or mixing with shadow and pigments. Really an interesting product and looking forward to hauling the other two shades!
That’s all for now folks! More hauling ahead from MAC Style Warriors so this one is to be continued! What I have tried from the collection I am loving. Quite a few items in the collection are keepers. I’m looking forward to doing some looks with the items I do have and heading to MAC to haul the rest of the collection.
What do you think so far?
Have you hauled Style Warriors yet?
What did you get?
As June quickly approaches so does the release of MAC Naked Honey, an exciting new, buzz worthy (get it? buzz! I’m such a damn comedian aren’t I?) collection. I’m always quite the little fan girl for MAC Summer Collections and so far I am loving
all I have seen from both MAC Naked Honey and MAC Style Warriors.
I’ll be giving you a very brief sneaky peek from MAC Naked Honey after the jump!
With plenty of golds and bronze on the menu MAC Naked Honey is most definitely Summer-worthy cosmetic goodness. It is a small amount of color in this collection thought and most of the release concentrating on plenty of interesting body care items such as shower gels, lotions, potions, etc….
I did a quickie look yesterday using three items from the MAC Naked Honey launch that I got to test out. So far I like what I see. I tried out MAC High-light Powder in Golden Nectar, MAC Lipglass in Buzz, and MAC Eye Shadow in Creme de Miel.
Two MAC High-Light Powders are being released, Golden Nectar being the darker shade of the two. Regardless if it’s dark or not it was flattering on me. You can easily double this up as a contouring tool if you desire and even a bronzer if you want. It’s a deep, bronze shade with a hint of golden shimmer. Sadly thought the golden shimmer is only an over spray and for the most part the powder did apply matte to my cheeks. This wasn’t necessarily a bad thing as I did like the way it looked on. I used it as a blush/bronzer combo on my cheeks in the below picture.
Three MAC Lipglasses shades will release with MAC Naked Honey one of which I tried was Buzz. Another fine Summer shade as it’s a dark copper that hints at being almost brown, very nice when paired up with Golden Nectar.
And finally I tried out MAC Eyeshadow in Creme De Miel which is a velvety gold shade. This applies a tad chalky but for the most part it blends out nicely and can be paired with fabulous coppery, bronze looks. Below I used it on it’s own on my lids.
Overall, I like what I’ve seen so far from MAC Naked Honey and I look forward to testing out the rest to see what I’ll haul from this collection.
What do you think so far of MAC Naked Honey?
Wanting Naked Honey?
Maybe you’re lemming Style Warriors more?

Urban Decay Midnight Cowboy is possibly my favorite shadow of all time which is why I’m always excited when they introduce it in different formats. A new shade of it, in glitter liner format, in a lipstick, etc….
To put a twist on my Summer, Urban Decay has introduced my favorite shadow shade into a lotion. Oh. my. god. Loves it!
Jump ahead to hear me squeal about the joys of Urban Decay Midnight Cowboy Body Shimmer Lotion.
Urban Decay you cheeky little monkey! You know just how to make a girl squeal like a little girl on Christmas morning. Meet Urban Decay Midnight Cowboy Body Shimmer Lotion:
Ok, let me tell you a secret. The Muse wasn’t paying attention the first time she got the good word of this lotion and for some odd reason she was under the impression it was a tiny bottle, like maybe, I dunno, 2 oz in size or less. I dunno why I was thinking that. Doh!
It’s actually a whopping 7oz! It’s a big bottle! Likey! Enough lotion in here to get you through Summer without probs but the Muse thinks you’d best stock up anyway as hey, you can never have too much shimmer in your life.
First off we need sniff-o-vision around here because I’m sincerely dying for you to take a whiff of this if you haven’t already. It’s tropical, coconut gorgeousness. Think of tanning oil but with a softer edge. Beautiful, glorious scent! They call the scent milk and honey I call it hot Summer night!
Now the formula is a super light, paraben-free, fast absorbing lotion that leaves skin with a delicate veil of golden shimmer. I thought the sparkle was very subtle, very pretty, and perfectly golden. If you’re a huge fan of shimmering lotions but aren’t always thrilled with the overkill of sparkle this is sure to please as it’s very sheer. It’ll look glorious on a tan that’s for sure. Use it on legs, arms, shoulders, wherever you want a golden sparkling sheen of Midnight Cowboy.
All this Muse can say is ride ‘em cowboy!
Total Muse Approval for purchase. You needs it, ’nuff said.
Anyone try yet?
