Winter Collections 2008
I’m almost positive that I’m not the only one excited about the Estee Lauder Shimmering Jewel Powder. Like for example I know this guy is super psyched about it:
Gimme, Gimme, Gimme More Estee Lauder Shimmering Jewel Powder baby!
The Muse stands behind the right to say that one can never have too many gold powders and in the case of Estee Lauder’s Shimmering Jewel Powder that rule becomes law! Have you seen this powder yet? If not you should be running over to your nearest Estee Lauder counter for a peek because it’s sincerely gorgeoussssssssss!
The Muse likely.
Plus it’s affordable gold powder too! Even better!
One of the main attractions of the powder is of course how beautiful it is but honestly, most important right now with the economy in such a slump, the price is pretty darn appealing as well at $32 USD for a huge compact of shimmering, sparkling, twinkling gold powder for your face, cheeks, and body! Divine!
The powder comes housed in a large golden compact which is about a third or so larger than a normal size powder compact, I think the size is what attracted me to it to begin with as seriously where can you get such a beautiful sized compact for this kind of price? Inside you’ll find silky, beautiful, luxurious shimmering gold powder that you can use on your face, cheeks, or body!
Larger than my Urban Decay Baked Bronzer
Although the powder looks like it’s shimmer overload it’s actually quite buildable so you can do a very light dusting of gold or you can get crazy and cover yourself in shimmering gold from face to foot!
The Muse prefers the head to toe option herself!
Once I applied it on my face I thought the finish was very subtle and lovely. It casts a nice shimmer across my cheeks and face creating a twinkling gold effect. The powder actually has a dual layer as it contains a nice spray of shimmer across the top but once that’s swiped away you’re presented with a second layer which is much less shimmery.
Top Layer Swatch
Bottom Layer Swatch
Here’s a simple look I did using the powder! I kept my blush very light and natural so that the powder could really show through!
If you’re a big lover of shimmering powders you’re going to want this one! It’s truly a stunning piece and the Muse happily approves it for purchase!
With it’s inexpensive price tag and it’s gorgeous shimmer who could resist Estee Lauder Shimmering Jewel Powder?
Not the Muse that’s for sure!
Loves it! The perfect shimmering powder to keep you all bling’ed out the entire Holiday Season!

I got countless e-mails asking after the new Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in Copper Diamond and honestly I can’t blame many of you for asking, “Muse, Muse, do I need it? How similiar is it to the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in Gold? Are you getting it?”
So here you go a reply and answer to all your many e-mails!
Yay! Trust your dear old Muse to answer all your questions about the Bobbi Brown Copper Diamond Shimmer Brick!
Good news my dears, Bobbi Brown Copper Diamond is vastly different when compared to Gold! Excited? I am as I was prepared to be disappointed when I seen Copper Diamond up close and personal but disappointed I was not!
The name is slightly misleading..Copper Diamond…mmmm I wouldn’t necessarily fit the shades in to the copper or the diamond category! For the most part the palette is a super beautiful combination of beiges, browns, and creams. The finish does have a slight copper sheen to it but very slight in my opinion and leans more towards a golden bronze. It’s difficult to explain but it’s beautiful is all you really need to know.
I took swatches of each shade:
I’ve never been a true fan of Bobbi Brown Shimmer Bricks but somehow, someway I have collected my fair share of them over the course of a year or so. Along the way I also ended up from really not liking them that much to actually enjoying them quite alot, so much so that some shades have even replaced my beloved MAC Mineralized Skinfinish!
The evolution of the Bobbi Brown Holiday Shimmer Brick has been a rather nice ride for the Muse. Her first purchase was the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in Gold which was quickly followed up by the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in Pink Quartz from Holiday 2007 and finally I’m ringing in the start of Holiday 2008 with the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick in Copper Diamond. I’ve actually hauled out all three palettes and did close up shots and comparisons of all of them so you can see the differences for yourself. One of the major differences would be packaging of course. The packaging has evolved from the classic black Bobbi Brown compact featuring a beautiful gold border inside to a pink border the next year. Always after the compact remains black and modest even though each was a limited edition piece there was nothing super special about the packaging aside from that pretty border inside. Last year Bobbi ditched the simple black pox and replaced it with a shiny bronze pink metallic package that caught and held the Muse’s eye. Finally this year the packaging undergoes a major revamp and comes out shining like a brand new penny! The compact has gone from the simplicity of black to a stunning copper gold palette with a beautiful metallic face place displaying the Bobbi Brown brand name on top. When I originally seen the compact in photos it kind of resembled a cardboard compact but that’s not the case at all. The compact is actually a tiny bit bigger then a normal shimmer brick plus with it’s new clothes it’s quite the little stunner! I like that even during pressing economic times that Bobbi Brown took the initiative to create beautiful new packaging for a beautiful new limited edition product and kept the price at $40 USD!
Evolution of Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick Packaging
Do you need Copper Diamond? The Muse likes to think so. If you collect Bobbi Brown Shimmer Bricks you’re honestly going to want to purchase this one to add to your stash. If you’re thinking of purchasing one for the first time this is absolutely a great piece to start with. I really can’t help but Muse Approve it for purchase! If you were worried whether it was very like Gold rest assured it’s vastly different and just as beautiful.
It’s available now on Bobbi Brown’s website or your local counter.
The Muse loves it and thinks you will too!

I have plenty of favorites this Holiday season and of course topping my list is the new Dior Night Diamond All Over Diamond Dust Powder.
Come on now who can resist beautiful shimmering powder in a gorgeous compact? You’re lying if you say you haven’t been lusting after Dior Night Diamond!
I happily added Dior Night Diamond to my collection a few weeks ago and I’ve waited a while to blog it because it seemed a bit too early to do a review on it however I really couldn’t wait much longer without finally give you the deets on this gorgeous powder.
If you’re expecting heavy duty shimmer you’ll be in for a surprise as the effects of this powder are very, very subtle and delicate. The color is a flattering, universal shade of beige with gold and beige shimmer to highlight cheeks, face, and body if you so please. The powder is silky smooth and gives a delightful touch of shimmer and highlight to my cheeks and face when I use it. It actually feels like a glorified face powder to me as it’s a perfect match for my skin tone and it has a rather nice whitening, brightening effect.
It comes housed in a heavy, faux diamond encrusted palette. It’s quite a different style of palette for Dior as they normally house powders (even special LE ones) in their standard blue compact. This is a heavy, collectible piece of cosmetic as can be attested from the weight of the palette itself.
The palette also includes a simple flat brush which sports soft bristles and it’s own velvet storage case. The brush is perfect for application as it picks up just the right amount of product and applies it beautifully to your face. I personally prefer using the brush that this came with as larger powder brushes can make a brutal mess of this lovely powder!
I know some of you may wince at it’s $80 USD (imagine if you lived in Europe or Asia where the price is nearly doubled!) price tag but for me it’s unquestionably a great deal and a beautiful piece to add to my Dior collection. Which brings me the topic of shades……The US is getting one shade which is 001 Beige Diamond however if you live in Europe or Asia chances are you’ll have access to Beige Diamond and Pink Diamond. So far I’ve seen Pink Diamond pop up in Singapore, Japan, and England. I’ve seen photos and swatches of Pink Diamond and I’m considering getting it as well considering how lovely it is! Sad sigh that the US only ever gets one color option!
If you’re a big fan of Dior you’re going to want this piece for your very own. The Muse highly suggests checking it out as once you see it, touch it, and swatch it, the question of whether you need it or not will be automatically answered to a full on YES!
Dior Night Diamond Powder is fully Muse Approved for purchase! I highly recommend nabbing one before it’s completely sold out and gone. I know many of you are waiting, wishing, and wanting to wait for Sephora Friends and Family to nab many posh purchases like this one but I honestly don’t recommend waiting. Chances are this will be gone before you have a chance to nab it so get ordering before it’s gone for good!
I’m off the open up my beauty vault so I can stash away my Dior Night Diamond and bring it out to play on special, special occasions! No peeking at the combination while I open it! Close your eyes now!

Because You’re Not Beautiful Without Dior
Ok, you know all that hype about how La Mer is food from the Gods above (only Blue Bunny Bunny Tracks Ice Cream is comparable as far as the Muse is concerned) ….
The Muse says it’s true.
Yes, it’s expensive but honestly well worth your money. I’ve tried various samples of La Mer and honestly it’s no wonder J-Lo fills her bathtub with it and bathes in it. If the Muse had her money she’d do the same thing!
If you’re looking for a super luxurious gift this Holiday Season or wanting to finally take the plunge and find out if the hype that surrounds La Mer is all true you can indulge in some of the super luxe gifts that La Mer has on offer!
I honestly can’t begin to afford some of these amazing gift sets but it doesn’t hurt my lemmings none the less! A girl can dream and drool! However, I do have my eye on two of the gift sets and considering that I’ve been thinking about taking the plunge into skincare nirvana recently I might as well go with a gift set which includes a few items instead of a single one item!
The Signature Collection $240 USD
Creme de La Mer 1oz
La Mer The Lifting Face Serum 15ml
La Mer The Eye Concentrate 5ml
I do have my eye on this one as it includes almost everything I want. Taking into consideration that La Mer Eye Concentrate is $165 USD and Cream de La Mer is $130 USD you can see how this actually works out to a value in the long run! This little guy is exclusive to Bloomingdale’s for a very exclusive time so if you wants it better head on out and grab it before it’s gone!
The Luxury Essentials $630 USD
Cream de la Mer
La Mer The Lifting Face Serum
La Mer The Eye Concentrate
Eep! I personally can’t afford it but I’d be all over this like white on rice if I won the lotto! The items are housed in a pearlized hat box.
Please grace the Muse’s Christmas with a La Mer Luxury Essential Gift Set! I’ve been good all year! Honest!
The La Mer Luxury Essentials Gift Set is available at Bergdorf and Neimans.
The Creme de La Creme $1,390 USD
I’ll take my jar of Creme de la Mer super size please!
Phew, that’s 16.5oz of cream! How many of these do you think I’d need to fill up my bath tub?
If you have some spare change hanging around you can get the La Mer Creme de La Creme Gift Set at Bergdorf, Neimans, and Saks! Tell ‘em the Muse sent you!
The Luxe Keepsake Box $1,200 USD
If you’re dishing out for La Mer you might as well have a super posh box to stash it away in! The Luxe Keepsake Box was designed by David Linley a British furniture designer. Each set is numbered and limited edition. If I ever got my hands on one I’d ruin it by drooling all over it! This is obviously one for the beauty vault! I better go buy more lotto tickets!
This one is available exclusively from Bergdorf and www.lamer.com
The Connoisseur Collection $395 USD
Here’s another one I seriously have my eye on!
Creme de La Mer
La Mer The Eye Concentrate
The Connoisseur Collection comes housed in a pearlized leather box! I think I may indulge in this one, the temptation is to great to resist!
If you’re wanting this collection it’s available exclusively at Saks.
Well, I guess we better start getting our jumbo pencils and paper out and start our lists to Santa…I know mine has increased by a few items after seeing these gift sets!
