I guess we established the Muse is very much obsessed with sun protection. SPF 500? Sign me up on that dotted line.
I’m the type of person that’s slathering SPF on my face when there’s six feet of snow on the ground and heaps more falling from the sky. The moral of this story is the sun is evil and if you aren’t protecting your skin you’re insane. Get to a store right now and get some SPF, I demand it. You don’t want to be using your skin as a leather handbag in 10 years people.
I’m always looking for a good way to get my SPF on. Something easy, something not greasy or oily, etc….Anything really that will help my skin to stay as young looking and healthy as possible. Sun? Very nice to hang out in. Skin and Sun? Not good together.
Jump ahead for the latest way I’m protecting my skin!
Loving Skin79 Diamond Collection Sun Protection Balm Moist at the moment. This is the funniest and really quite an easy way to protect yourself from the sun with an SPF 50.
Basic application is an absolute snap as this is a balm which allows you to spread the SPF onto face after your moisturizing, primer, and foundation but before your makeup. It comes in a pink jar with sponge application. Simply swipe the balm onto the sponge and pat gently onto skin and blend. It has a fresh scent as well which is quite pretty if you don’t mind scented skin care. The product does every so slightly leave a white cast to skin but blended out with makeup in place (blush, etc…) that will quickly clear up. The formula is very light, very sheer, non greasy or oily. After it’s in place it doesn’t really feel like you have anything on at all.
Overall, I absolutely adore the application of this and just the idea. It’s a rather unique way to get good strong sun protection. If you’re as obsessed as I am with SPF this could be worthy of a pick up. It is a Korean product and not available within the US but a quick trip to evil-bay should yield results.
The Muse gets so scared when she sees products that say “firming” on them. Oh please tell me I don’t need any firming action on my face yet! I’m only in my 30’s….I’m scared hold me. I swear the words firming, wrinkle, and age spots just terrify me.
Of course when I got my hands on Dr. Denese Firming Facial Resurfacing Peel I got all kinds of scare.
But have no fear, it’s so much more than a firming peel!
Check it after the review.
What is it?
It’s a creamy orange peel that’s meant to brighten and refresh your complexion. Phew nothing about firming actions yet, looks like I’m safe. It exfoliates to reveal smoother skin plus…here it comes…it firms and tones while improving elasticity. EEP!
In all seriousness I’m not yet ready to firm, tone, or improve my elasticity yet. So far my elasticity is snapping back like a rubber hand. But that doesn’t prevent me from enjoying this peel.
It’s actually meant for anyone with poor skin texture and uneven skin tone, certain dullness or anyone lacking radiance and glow or even dry, rough, tired skin. Some of this applies to me in a major way.
The general idea is you apply to a clean dry face and leave on for few minutes. Those with sensitive skin may notice a tingling or stinging so do a patch test prior to use. The formula is a rich, gel-like cream that has a bright, sunny orange scent. Once it’s on my face I don’t feel much but than again my skin is bulletproof you could probably throw acid it on it and I wouldn’t notice.
One of the main things I love about it is it resurfaces my entire facial area as I wear it. This basically means those patchy cheeks and flaky areas between my eyes gets eaten up and exfoliated by the mask.
After I’ve left it on for a few I rinse with lukewarm water. You’ll instantly noticed your face is flushed and looking considerably better than before you started. I use it two to three times a week. I haven’t really noticed a major change in my skin as of yet but I do see a difference right after use and a few hours after use but nothing long term yet. I generally like the idea of having great skin just for a few hours as it seems to make makeup application smoother and makes my skin looks more like it’s glowing. I’ve only used it for a week so I’ll continue on and hope for long term results.
It’s quite an interesting peel and fairly affordable at around $30. Overall, I’d purchase again after I ran out because I do like that it exfoliates at the very least without using scratchy crystals.
Definitely in my likey book! I’ll update you on my progress with it.
Winter is around the bloody corner isn’t it? How did that happen so fast. Well, if the Muse is being honest she doesn’t really need cold, harsh weather to feel the dry, itchy, tightness that makes up her skin. My mother gave birth to a little baby crocodile because my elbows and knees are so dry it’s absurd. I have to keep at them constantly by scrubbing away dead skin and moisturizing as much as possible to keep them nice and soft. Miss a single day and it’s back to dry, flaky skin! Yak!
I got the chance to test out a new inexpensive beauty budget collection from St. Ives which is keeping my skin nice and hydrated right now and should keep it so throughout the long winter ahead!
Jump for it!
Considering the Muse is the first to sob at the state of the economy I’ve been keeping an eye out for any and all good budget beauty finds however they are so very few and in between. However, one great score is the new St. Ives Mineral Therapy Collection. Guys, def head into store for a sniff if possible as these smell so very heavenly which gives them a proper A+. Aside from smelling great they are heavily moisturizing and hydrating plus the formula contains no parabens or phytalates. The line includes three brand new products all $6.99 or under so you aren’t breaking the bank by indulging.
St. Ives Moisturizing Mineral Therapy Body Wash ($2.99-$3.99) is a freshly scented moisturizing body wash made with natural ingredients. The formula is not tested on animals nor does it contain animal ingredients plus the bottle is made up of 20% post-consumer recycled material. The body wash is a smooth, creamy blend that lathers up very well and leaves skin silky and smooth. It’s not drying in the least and it feels heavenly to my dry, crocodile skin.
St. Ives Mineral Therapy Body Polish ($6.99) is an exfoliating body scrub that is simply awesome. Muse Approval for this one. The formula is a thick, gooey paste much like shea butter with fine crystals blended in to gently exfoliate skin. It starts off as a moisturizing butter that scrubs away dead skin and later turns into a soft, smooth lather that rinses clean away. It’s a gem, definitely purchase this if nothing else from the line. They have it available in three formulas which are Oatmeal & Shea Butter (gentle polishing made with oatmeal and shea), Collagen Elastin (Collagen and Elastin proteins for younger, smoother skin), and Mineral Therapy (blend of minerals). I tried the Mineral Therapy and it smells just as heavenly as the wash does. The scrub works very gently but still manages to whisk away icky dry flakes while leaving skin super soft and super smooth. Loves it. It’s one of the few scrubs I’ve tried that doesn’t scrub away to the bone….I’m sure you know what I mean. Some scrubs are mega harsh this is ever so gentle and still works at making my skin smooth.
Finally, you can follow up your hydrating experience with St. Ives Replenishing Mineral Therapy Advanced Moisturizer ($4.99). This is a thick, creamy intensely moisturizing body lotion to keep skin soft. If you experience dry, itchy skin in the colder weather this will be a welcome relief to keep your skin healthy and moisturized.
Count the Muse impressed with the St. Ives Mineral Therapy Collection. It’s great, inexpensive way to get smooth skin. If you’re looking for a budget friendly option I recommend these as they are truly good. Worthy of a pick up me thinks.
Muse Approved for purchase.
What are some of your fav St. Ives products?
I remember loving the St. Ives Apricot Scrub when I was in my teens. I seriously need to rediscover St. Ives as I forget how bleeding great it is.

Ahh the joys of being a lazy Muse. It happens on occasion don’t you know? I come home late, I’m tired, I’m trying to wind it down from a stressful day and I’m quite lazy enough that I’m not wanting to deal with my 20 step program to remove makeup, it’s a chore being me. When I’m busy being a lazy little bum I head for makeup wipes to clean my face on the fly so I can head straight to my bed and watch 10 Things I Hate About You on my Tivo Playlist. Gawd, that Ethan Peck
is all kinds of cuteness.
My latest discovery for wiping off fast are the new Korres Pomegranate Cleansing & Make Up Removing Wipes. Oh joy they smell so pretties and are terribly cheap too, loves it!

If you don’t really like makeup remover wipes I highly suggest grabbing a package of Korres Pomegranate Cleansing & Make Up Removing Wipes just for the sake of sniffing them. You can totally get high off this scent. I guess it’s supposed to be the scent of Pomegranate but it falls into more of a fresh, rosy, floral mysterious scent that my nose can’t identify outside of saying, “oh my god so beautiful!” Excuse me Korres can we get a body spray or something in this scent? Soooo good!
On top of awesome smelling they also do a mighty fine job of a quickie clean up on my face. Sadly, they aren’t going to wipe off heavy duty waterproof mascara but they do a decent job of wiping off the rest of the gunk that needs taking off my face at the end of a long night. The cloths are nice and thick and have a smooth, soft texture. They are good for both combination and oily skin types and won’t dry out your skin and supposedly they even tighten up pores. They aren’t terribly saturated but they do have just enough remover on them to get off much of your makeup on those lazy nights when Ethan Peck is waiting for you on your Tivo.
Overall, if you’re looking for an inexpensive ($12 for 25 wipes), great smelling wipe that’s paraben free and created with good for you ingredients Korres Pomegranate Cleansing & Make Up Removing Wipes is the way to go. They aren’t going to do the job of your normal cleansing routine but they are great for quickie makeup removal on the fly.
All the yak from my face eww!
As for this Muse she’s off to smell them some more….!
Remember how I was telling you about how irritating it was to chase those little beads around on my face which are part of the wonderful formula that makes up H20+ Face Oasis Ultra Hydrator
? Gawd those things are a pain but I was willing to overlook them since I’ve fallen head over heals with Face Oasis as my main moisturizer the past several days.
But guess what? Score! H20+ Face Oasis has none of those annoying spheres, all the same benefits, plus a truly great formula to!

I was reading reviews that said the new Face Oasis I reviewed for you is more moisturizing than the older Face Oasis I’m about review. Personally they feel alot alike to me aside from the small spheres in Face Oasis Ultra Hydrator. One thing I did notice about this Face Oasis is it feels a bit tacky and sticky on my skin but after a minute it abides.
H20+ Face Oasis is an oil free hydrating moisturizing that’s a gel formula and supposedly reduces the appearances of fine lines and wrinkles. I’m only using it today so I can’t speak for long term results. I will say I’m loving this and the Face Oasis Ultra Hydrator so much because of the way it revitalizes my dry skin without making it an oily mess. The formula is so light and absorbs so easily into my skin leaving behind a dewy finish. Fabulous stuff. If you have dry I seriously urge you to see if you can get a sample. I also think the formula is rather ideal for oily skin as well since it’s so light.
Overall, I’m deeply impressed with H20+ lately and I’m thinking this could possibly make me switch from my regular Lush day and night cream.
H20+ Face Oasis gets a Muse Approval for making my dull, dry skin, dewy and fresh again! Feels just like a cup of cold water for my face. Many moisturizers I’ve tried in the pass say they are oil free but I always end up feeling greasy after not the case with this which makes it a gem among moisturizers.
