Hoping the NARS Afterglow Eyeshadow Palette Will Prove Me Wrong

The new, limited edition NARS Afterglow Eyeshadow Palette launched yesterday at sephora.com for Spring 2020 and you can just tell from promo images this might not turn out well. When I purchased the NARS Inferno Eyeshadow Palette I didn’t listen to my gut feeling about it. You see, the promo images looked sort of dry and the same holds true for the Afterglow Eyeshadow Palette. But let’s be real for second because promo images are known to lie right? I mean I’ll peach a blush that I think looks like a great peachy coral in promo image and it turns out to be pink! Promo images are notoriously bad at portraying the actual product. Sometimes this works in your favor and you get something unexpectedly nice and sometimes the promo images don’t lie and you end up with rubbish. NARS promotional images are obviously portraying the true formula and texture of their shadows pretty accurately because Inferno appeared very dry in images and turned out they were indeed!

I actually like the Afterglow Eyeshadow Palette shades but I literally do not trust NARS’ formula at this point having been burned by their last few releases. Kind of sucks how cautious you have to be purchasing luxury makeup lately as back in the day you purchased something from a brand and always ended up with excellent quality for the price but nowadays not so much!

This palette contains 12 shades that are 0.04 oz each and the palette is $59. I really like the pops of tangerine, apricot, and peach! But I’m too wary to indulge and might just wait for someone else to review first.

Shades:

  • First Taste (shimmering pale gold)
  • Shadow Hill (matte saddle)
  • Hot Line (metallic tangerine)
  • Whipped (matte warm brown)
  • Crushed (matte apricot)
  • Mad Love (Matte Peach)
  • Push It (iridescent golden pink)
  • Riding High (shimmering rose)
  • Bayadere I (sparkling bronze)
  • Trouble (shimmering coral)
  • Deep Cut (metallic fuchsia)
  • Guahaquil (bright metallic rust)

The NARS Afterglow Eyeshadow Palette is available now at Sephora.

Do you think I’m right? Will this be a great palette or another mediocre release?

Do share!
