I’m prone to dry skin not only my face but all over my body. It’s been pretty tame this Winter though! When the Fall hit I was feeling a bit tight, dry, and itchy but it passed quickly and up until recently things have been going pretty smoothly in my dry skin realm.
However, the weather started to get a little warmer about two weeks ago and suddenly for some unknown reason I started to feel super dry and itchy. And I mean ITCHY! Oh my gosh it was awful. I started slathering on all my lotions and potions but not a lot helped. I also had a really bad red rash on my neck. I actually started getting semi-panicky thinking it was the measles. I’ve had the chicken pox but never the measles. After a quick visit to my dermatologist, who’s 85 years old and quite good at soothing my skin hypochondriasis by telling me how ridiculous I am thinking I have skin cancer from a tiny mole, I was reassured I did not have the measles but just irritated myself by itching my drier skin. And as always, he explained that when I got out of the shower I should apply my body lotion to my wet skin and pat dry and of course, NO steaming hot showers.
This is actually a good technique to use as I find some body lotions can be very heavy and don’t completely absorb when I apply them on my drier skin. Applying them on my wet skin allows the formula to absorb much, much faster. But I actually still struggle with this at times.
That was until started using Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizer. Oh my god! This stuff saves my dry skin life.
