And P.S. Shall we discuss the Battle of Winterfell because that was some seriously long ass epic battle. You know what? Somewhere along the way I forgot that this is Game of Thrones and that the battle is for the Iron Throne. I got so caught up in The Night King and the White Walkers and Winter I forgot that technically, that isn’t really the main part of the story at all. The battle was both the longest and quickest one I’ve seen unfold on TV. Or should I say it was the longest battle but the quickest end. I mean, what was it the last 8 minutes that things actually started building up and finally exploding? So far the season has been a really slow boil! I think a lot of people expected S8 to open with a big bang but it opened with a really soft whisper. It almost feels like I’ve been watching several episodes that lead up to S8/Episode 3. It feels like it took a very, very long time to get to this epic moment. And when it did arrive it was SO disappointing. Why? Because it was SO DAMN DARK. It was really difficult to follow what actually unfolded on screen. I have a Samsung Q Series in my living room and I squinted through most of the episode. “Wait, was that Grey Worm running towards that Walker…Was that the ice dragon or the fire dragon? Is that a Walker? Oh no, that’s Sir Davos doing absolutely nothing as this sh*t unfolds!” No seriously though, WHY WAS IT SO DARK!? By the time the end first hour rolled around I wasn’t sure who died and who was alive. I actually thought Jamie and Brienne were goners. At one point both of them were covered in White Walkers and I seen them get bitten a few times or at least I think they got bitten!? I needed a little more light.
When things finally came to a head I was able to finally sit back, take a deep breath, and think about the the real battle which is just about to begin. Believe me, Cersei is worst than anything the Night King can throw at us.
What did you think of this week’s epic episode?
