MAC x Aaliyah images hit the late singer’s Instagram today and fans are obviously gagging in excitement. As you may know, Aaliyah joins artists like Selena with a new makeup collection created by MAC and inspired by and dedicated to the R&B singer. The collection is expected to hit shelves Summer 2018 and will probably sell out in the blink of an eye but no worries I’m sure MAC will restock to appease fans as they did with Serena’s hotly anticipated and quick to sell out collection.

Needless to say Aaliyah life was too cut far too short and she has garnered both fans during her life’s work and well after it with fans begging MAC to create a collection in her namesake. Dreams do come true as MAC again has listened their fans as always and so far, what I’ve seen from the collection is looking very, very promising.

Kiko Free Soul Blurring & Moisturizing Face Cream ($28) is a new facial primer moisturizer hybrid formula that acts to hydrate skin as it primes for makeup while blurring the appearance of pores and fine lines. Sound familiar? Probably because it is as Clinique introduced Pep-Start HydroBlur Moisturizer is the same concept! Clinique’s formula gets a bad wrap but I’m actually one that really enjoyed it and found myself repurchasing it when I ran out.

Of course, this is one reason I was curious about the Free Soul Blurring & Moisturizing Face Cream as I wanted to compare the two and see how they measured up together.

NYX Lip Lingerie Glitter ($7.49) are a new finish and formula for the Lip Lingerie Collection that launched in nine shade selections for Spring 2018. As you know the original formula was a matte liquid lipstick and for Spring NYX decided to launch glitter, shimmer, and gloss finishes in this formula. Considering I don’t really love matte long-wear liquid lipstick I was all about trying this out for myself. Because let’s be real, I think a lot of us are over matte lipstick and glossy, glittery lips are a welcome and refreshing change.

NYX created these to use on their own, they are plenty pigmented which makes that possible or you can layer them over matte lipstick for a shifting effect. I purchased three of the nine shades from Ulta’s website and they arrived quite quickly last week.

Too Faced Natural Face Palette ($44) is a new blush, highlighter, and bronzer palette that launched with the It Just Comes Naturally Spring 2018 Collection and will be a permanent part of the brand’s collection.

I can’t even begin to express how happy I was about this launch. Yes, some people are terribly tired of nudes and this collection does focus on a nude, natural selection of shades. However, I’m quite done with the “cutesy” themes from Too Faced. This collection is much more mature and elegant. Don’t get me wrong, I ADORE cute makeup! But Too Faced seems to have rubbed me wrong with their version of cute. So, I am quite happy to get back to a safe place with the brand.
