Pacifica is brand new at your local Sephora and the Muse couldn’t be happier that they are carrying the line as it’s budget friendly, has unique scent blends, and is a great line of green friendly beauty!

Pacifica Body Lotions are a whooping 16oz in size for merely $22 USD each! These guys are jumbo size and house plenty of lotion to last you anywhere from 6 months to a year with daily use. If you’re a green friendly makeup and body care user you’ll be happy to know that Pacifica’s entire line is 100% Vegan Friendly minus harmful ingredients such as parabens!

Pacifica+Body+Lotion+2

I absolutely adore these lotions as they absorb so quickly and leave my skin silky smooth with a fantastic layer of scent that lasts all day. The entire Pacifica Collection is available in a wide array of scents that are unique and interesting. I recently tried out Pacifica Body Lotion in Lotus Garden and Pacifica Body Lotion in Bali Lime Papaya both of which are incredible scents for Spring and Summer.

Pacifica+Body+Lotion+7

Bali Lime Papaya has dominant note of papaya but with just the right amount of lime to create a complexity that’s fruity and sweet!

Pacifica+Body+Lotion+6

Pacifica+Body+Lotion+5

Lotus Garden has a dominant note that is a crisp, clean citrus. The citrus keeps the blend fruity but it’s quickly followed up with green notes and a strong underlay of lotus which gives a clean note to the fragrance. It’s quite unusual and very, very nice.

KATE Gradical Eyes S in BG-1

KATE Gradical Eyes Palettes are nothing new as they were released a year or two ago but for Spring 2009 KATE extended the line to release a new shade. I believe that this is the first time that KATE introduced a new shade to the collection, either that or I haven’t been paying much attention.

Jump ahead to see the newest shade!

Now I should mention I have pretty much all the shades from the KATE Gradical Eyes Palettes and I believe they were released for Spring 2007, correct me if I’m wrong. At the time I got them I was really quite pleased as they were pigmented and had some great colors however woe followed soon after. Out of all my KATE palettes, and I’m a big KATE fan mind you, Gradical Eyes is probably the worst ones they have in the line up. The texture of the shadows are a bit too chalky and don’t blend too smoothly. Anyway, the reason I’m telling you all this was because it would take alot for me to indulge in any new shades they released but this Spring they caught me! The newest shade release is BG-1 and it’s simply stunning! I seriously couldn’t resist the shade and I convinced myself it would be a great palette regardless of the crummy formula.

Wrong, but I’ll get into that shortly.

KATE Gradical Eyes Palettes contain a base shade of shadow, a contrasting shade, and a lid shade all in a powder formula. It also includes a highlighter or a base if you like in a cream formula. I’ve grown to hate these style of palettes as I don’t like the cream and think it’s an utterly wasteful item as I never use it. The basic application is applying the lightest shade as a base, the medium shade all over the lid and crease, and applying the darkest shade on the lid which you’ll blend slightly upwards. The final step is using the cream as a highlighter for the highbrow. Using the creamy shade as a base makes the shadow crease and just causes a major mess so I stick to using it as a highbrow highlighter.

As I mentioned above the lure of the newest shade got a hold of me as it’s quite pretty. The shade selection is called blue-green by KATE but for me it’s pure aqua. I’m a big lover of aqua which is why I decided to indulge.

Ado…even a new shade can’t take away from how crummy a formula the shadows are. Although all the shades are pretty and plenty pigmented they still blend badly. You can’t contrast much of your look as the shades are difficult to blend and end up turning into one big gob of aqua. Meh.

Although the palette is gorgeous shade it’s not worth purchasing in my humblest as the formula is simply too crummy to work with. KATE makes some great palettes but it’s an epic fail for the Gradical Eyes line.

No likey.

How about you?

Fan of Gradical Eyes?

Not so much?

Beauty Muse: Making MAC Lipglass Better!

Wanna Muse MAC Lipglass with me? Jump ahead to join in!

The Muse was thinking about it this morning, yes indeed she occasionally does that, think. As she applied her MAC Lustreglass she was thinking how brilliant it would be if MAC embraced the brush applicator for all it’s glosses!

MAC+Lipglass+2

The Muse started her career a hater of MAC glosses as they are so bloody sticky and tacky! Yak! But I’ve since made peace with them and admit that although they are sticky as all hell they have incredible long wear, the longest wear of any of the glosses I’ve tried!

The only thing that would improve on the MAC gloss line is if they’d embrace brush applicators for their glosses. I’d truly dig that. Lustreglass already has a brush applicator and I can so dig on MAC Lipglasses with one too instead of the sponge applicator!

What do you think?

Would you love MAC glosses to all have a brush applicator?

How would you improve their glosses?

Dior Bronze Harmonie de Blush Review

Wanna meet the new love of my life?

Meet Dior Bronze Harmonie de Blush an absolutely essential item for Summer.

Combining equal parts blush with a beautiful bronzer and you’ll end up with the perfect shade of gorgeous! Dior Bronze Harmonie de Blush is the ideal product for people like myself who really don’t like bronzers. The powder combines the richness of bronzer but with just the right touches of peach to create a warm shade of blush that’s bound to flatter any skin tone.

The blush is housed in the new standard Dior compact which they have currently embraced for a majority of the line. This isn’t the traditional blue shade though, it’s a deep brown shade. Quite pretty and practical so you’re not worried about scratching up the palette or not wanting to use it because it’s too gorgeous.

Inside you’ll find a beautiful quilted design on the powder. The design has the Dior logo which isn’t easy rubbed off after a few times using the powder, that’s always a plus as I adore designs on my palettes. The design has equals parts blush versus bronzer so you can use the shades separate or together. I prefer using the shades together as it creates the perfect glow on my cheeks but if you prefer you can use the shades separate. The bronzer can be used to give cheeks a glow or to contour your face where as the blush part can be used to cast a peachy glow on your cheeks. The powder does have a fine shimmer overlay but it quickly rubs away after first use so you’re left with a silky satin finish.

I’m happy to report that the Dior Bronze Harmonie de Blush is available in two shades, both of which are available in the US. Traditionally, Dior releases items in two shades but the US only ever gets the one color selection. I was pleased that this time around both shades are available within the US.

So far I’ve only tried Coral Riviera but I’ll be purchasing the second shade Rose Brazilia shortly as I was deeply impressed with how well Coral Riviera performs. I think the bronzer is the ideal solution for anyone afraid of bronzers or who doesn’t like using a bronzer as it gives a perfect glow to face and cheeks. I think it also prevents those with a heavier hand, like myself, from using too much product. As I find if I use a bronzer powder and follow up with a blush I overdo the amount I’m using. When I use the Dior Bronze Harmonie de Blush I get the perfect ratio of blush and bronzer. The powder will work for just about any skin tone but I think it’s particularly a great addition to a fair or medium skin tone as it’s a good color combo that doesn’t appear too orange, too muddy, or too brown on a lighter skin tone. After I used the blush I thought it made me look like I used NARS Orgasm on my cheeks but with more pop and just the right amount of a sunny peachy glow. Loves it!

Who would love this?

  • Anyone who hates bronzers!
  • Anyone with a lighter skin tone that has always wanted to use a bronzer but was scared to!
  • Those who want a sunny, peachy glow on their cheeks!
  • Anyone who doesn’t want to use a bronzer and a blush but prefers one product that can perform both functions in one swipe of your brush.

Dior Bronze Harmonie de Blush is my ideal Summer bronzer and I absolutely love it. I look forward to trying the other shade in the collection shortly and bringing you a review of it. I can’t recommend this enough and give it my highest Muse Approval for purchase.

Overall, the blush is simplicity at it’s best and makes using bronzer a snap! I love the overall look of the product on my cheeks and feel like it’s a perfect addition to your Summer makeup wardrobe.
