Prescriptives Spring Collection 2009: Prescriptives In Bloom Eye Color Duo and In Bloom Cheek Color Duo Review, Swatches, Photos, and FOTD

Prescriptives In Bloom Spring Collection holds a special place in my heart this season as the colors are quite Spring-like and particularly pretty. The packaging on Prescriptives In Bloom Collection is truly fitting for the season ahead with it’s sweet blossoming flower design!

Loves it!

Prescriptives is always a fond favorite season after season for offering a great selection of both warm and cool looks. I love that they take the time out to release two very different color selections that are suitable for warmer and cooler tones or for those who prefer both a warm and a cool look.

Prescriptives+In+Bloom+Spring+Collection+3

Jump ahead to learn more about the cooler side of Prescriptives In Bloom Spring Collection for 2009.

As I mentioned above the Prescriptives In Bloom Collection consists of cooler and warmer shades. Today I’ll be reviewing the cooler shades of the collection but let’s take a brief second to look at what was released.

Four brand new palettes currently available in two shades each for both warm and cool.

Available are:

Warm

  • Sunflower
  • Marigold

Cool

  • Petunia
  • Lily

And two new blush palettes are available in one shade each:

Warm

  • Golden Coral

Cool

  • Fresh Pink

Each collection creates a warmer or cooler look or mix and match to create your perfect Spring look! Both the shadow duos and blushers are a reasonable $24 USD each so you’re not breaking the bank picking up some of the collection. Love, love the packaging on these. It’s a flip top, magnetic compact with a hard case, large mirror inside, and a brilliant pink, red, and orange blooming flower on the lid.

The Prescriptives In Bloom Eye Color Duo in Petunia contains a delicate pale pink shade with a contrasting darker pink almost mauve color. The best way to apply is to use the lightest shade as an all over color wash and follow up using the darker shade in the v of the eye and blending into the crease to contrast with the lighter pink. Line the lower lash line with the pale pink and apply a light layer of the darker mauve shade on top! Of course, you can get a few different looks from the palette by combining or using the shades by themselves. Pigmentation is very good on both shades and the shadows have a silky, soft formula that blends very well.

The Prescriptives In Bloom Blush Duo contains two shades of contrasting blush colors one of which is a deep rose shade and the other softer pink with touches of peach. You can easily use the shades separate but I think swirling your blush around in both creates a deeper shade of pink with a tiny hint of peach that’s quite lovely all it’s own.

Overall, I absolutely loved the cooler side of the Prescriptives In Bloom Collection and think it’s well worth checking out. I can’t think of better colors that are suitable for the Spring weather than these!

I’ll try to get to a counter soon to see if I can pick up the warmer shades as I know some of you requested both a warm and a cool look so do keep your eyes on this space for an update soonish!

Milani Minerals Mousse Foundation Review and Swatches

Milani Minerals Mousse Foundation is part of the Milani Spring Collection 2009. Available in six shade this oil-free mineral foundation offers a mousse like texture with a built in primer.

Milani+Minerals+Mousse+Foundation+2

Milani+Minerals+Mousse+Foundation+1

Milani+Minerals+Mousse+Foundation+4

Innovative? Yes. Does it work?

Read ahead to find out!

Milani Minerals Mousse Foundation sounds like thee perfect formula with it’s light-weight mineral base oil-free formula that offers a silicon base which fills pores, evens out skin tone, and diminishes the appearance of fine lines.

Milani+Minerals+Mousse+Foundation+5

Milani+Minerals+Mousse+Foundation+9

This brand new foundation is supposedly suitable for all skin types and provides medium to full coverage with a small amount (a very small amount, take my word for it, small is good…). Enriched with vitamins A&E, parabeen-free, and oil free this foundation sounds like a dream come true. Available in six shade selections Milani Minerals Mousse Foundation is $8.49 USD.

Milani+Minerals+Mousse+Foundation+215

Sadly, the dream ended as soon as I tried it out. I tested it in the shade 304 Classic Beige and it was WAY too dark. It was really a rough shade of beige that applied almost orange on my skin and seriously when I say use a tiny bit please do as the foundation is super max pigmented and a little goes a very long way. The texture is that of cream cheese, very thick with a mousse like consistency. I absolutely hated how it felt on my skin as it has a good base of silicon in it that made me itchy and greasy feeling, this is exactly why I don’t like Smashbox Photofinish. Once it was in place I just felt like I had a second skin on and looked heavily made up which I chalk up as the color being very wrong for my tone. I can’t deny that I was pretty impressed with how pigmented the product was but it’s such a heavy base that I couldn’t really make proper use of it. The foundation also has a strange scent that one could describe as fresh but for me it was a tad bit cheap smelling. It blends quite well but even with proper blending it just sits on top of my skin which in turn makes it feel very strange on my face.

Milani+Minerals+Mousse+Foundation+10

Milani+Minerals+Mousse+Foundation+11

Milani+Minerals+Mousse+Foundation+12

Milani+Minerals+Mousse+Foundation+13

All in all I really can’t say I liked this one but I feel somewhat tempted to re-test using another shade. I recommend it to those who have large pores and like the idea of a foundation with a built in primer. It has plenty of silicon to fill large and small pores, fine lines, and any other skin woes you’re looking to cover.

Who might love it?

  • Anyone who wants to fill in large pores
  • Anyone who likes the idea of a silicon based foundation that acts as coverage and primer all in one prodct
  • Anyone who desires a heavily pigmented foundation

At $8.49 USD I do recommend checking it out for yourself as I have some strange feeling that this might somehow become a cult favorite, sadly, this was a no go for me.

Anyone try it yet?

Love Milani Foundations?

Pieces of Life: The K-Drama Edition

really

Hey guys!

I’m on my latest K-Drama kick so I thought I’d do a “Pieces of Life” Edition about it as I’m wondering what everyone is watching at the moment.

I’m currently trying to get through I Really, Really Like You but for some reason it’s slow going so far…hmmmmm…must be me being tired perhaps!

Jump ahead to read more!

I’m positive that I’m not only tired but the bloody subtitles are moving so fast that I can’t take a breath to actually watch anything hehe! But so far it’s a bit on the meh side.

I+Really,+Really+Like+You+3

I+Really,+Really+Like+You+2

I waited ages to purchase it via YesAsia but they only ever had the Part 1 Box Set in stock (finally Box Set 2 is out) and I just couldn’t wait any longer so I had it CP’ed from Malaysia. Impatient is the Muse but hey it actually worked out way cheaper but only prob is the damn subtitles!

There really hasn’t been much in the way of releases that I’ve really wanted to see aside from Iljimae. Lurve me some Lee Jun Ki, WANT! I just recently finished re-watching Sweet 18. I dunno what happened but one day I was listening to the soundtrack and suddenly the urge to re-watch it was upon me, glad I did it’s such a fab drama!

Anyway!

What’s playing on your telly at the moment or DVD?

Have you seen I Really, Really Like You (Love Truly)?

Whatcha think?

The Solution by Envision Beauty Review

Dreaming of an anti-aging complex that’s paraben-free and alcohol-free? Dream no more, the Muse has the Solution.

No, literally I have the Solution, The Solution by Envision Beauty that is.

Envision+the+Solution+2

I’m a creature of habit when it comes to skincare and it’s rare I veer off the well used Lush Cosmetics path that I’ve taken for many a fine year. However, being a beauty blogger I do realize that readers expect a few skincare product reviews here and there that aren’t Lush in origin. So today I’ll take you on an adventure with Envision The Solution Advanced Anti-Aging Complex that has a slew of goodness backing it up and I’m sure by the end of this review you’ll be lemming it.

Restore, perfect, and protect your face are the motto of the day when one discusses The Solution by Envision Beauty moisturizer. Both paraben and alcohol free make this solution coveted by many I’m sure. With advanced lifting and firming action plus added benefits of decreasing the appearance of fine lines I’m positive this is something to get excited about. Considering I have no fine lines as of yet I do envision myself protecting and perfecting my face with this complex. With a cocktail of vitamins A, B4, C, E and natural antioxidants goji and acai I feel confident I’m putting something on my face that’s good for my skin.

Envision+the+Solution+3

Envision+the+Solution+4

I’ve always desired a lightweight anti-aging moisturizer and this pretty much brings everything to the table that I’d desire in one plus it’s alcohol free which means it glides onto my skin, absorbs easily, and doesn’t dry me out due to high levels of alcohol. The formula is a gel-like moisturizer that’s gentle, soft, and applies easily while absorbing into my skin upon contact.

After a near month of use my skin feels amazing! I have a certain glow about my skin, no rough, dry patches, and I feel like my skin feels healthier. Soft, silky skin in the Winter? Unheard of for me but this truly made my skin look and feel better. Like a cup of water for my skin the formula feels cooling and gentle as it glides on.

Envision+the+Solution+8

I’ve been searching for an anti-aging cream for a while now that wasn’t thick and heavy as most are and this successfully manages to be light, airy, and absorbs easily. These are all added benefits for me as I feel like most every anti-aging cream I’ve used always sit on my skin.

Overall, it’s worth checking out for yourself simply for the amazing formula especially if you’re a green-friendly makeup user as this combines both science and nature to create a perfect anti-aging complex that’s sure to please.

Loves it!

The Solution by Envision Beauty can be purchased at www.envision-beauty.com plus they currently have a promo for buy 1 get 1 free! Gasp! Awesome! The Muse likey!

Tricia Sawyer Full Potential Foundation Review

If you haven’t experienced the full potential of your foundation you may want to try out Tricia Sawyer Full Potential Foundation.

Tricia+Sawyer+Full+Potential+Foundation+2

Tricia+Sawyer+Full+Potential+Foundation+3

Tricia+Sawyer+Full+Potential+Foundation+1

Creamy, moisturizing, and richly pigmented this foundation is sure to cover all your woes and leave behind flawless, even skin.

For most of my makeup life I’ve used cream foundations not liquids, not powders, but cream. I find cream works best for my dry skin and offers great coverage however cream is a tricky little product as it wears off considerably quicker than powders and liquids or at least that’s been my experience. Tricia Sawyer Full Potential Foundation is probably the most pigmented cream foundation I’ve tried before so anyone who has serious skin woes may likely like how much coverage you can get out of a simple pot.

Tricia+Sawyer+Full+Potential+Foundation+4

Tricia+Sawyer+Full+Potential+Foundation+5

Tricia+Sawyer+Full+Potential+Foundation+11

Tricia Sawyer Full Potential Foundation is made up of two shades of foundation so each pot offers the ability to blend the perfect shade to match your skin. This is quite like my own personal favorite foundation of choice, Morgen Schick Hide and Highlight palette, so I’m quite used to blending two shades for a good match. I particularly like having the option of two shades since some days I need to go lighter and others I need a bit darker or just blend the two for a perfect me match.

Tricia+Sawyer+Full+Potential+Foundation+21

Tricia+Sawyer+Full+Potential+Foundation+23

Actually their is some confusion whether or not Full Potential Foundation is indeed a foundation or a concealer or both. In answer to this question you’ll find that Full Potential actually multitasks as both. I have this in medium and sadly it wasn’t particularly great at concealing my under eye circles simply because the medium shade looked too “natural” for me. I prefer my concealer to be a few shades lighter and a more natural look makes me look tired however I do think anyone with serious dark circles will absolutely be thrilled with the intense coverage this provides. I did find it was a teeny tiny bit too dry for my under eyes though!

Tricia+Sawyer+Full+Potential+Foundation+7

Tricia+Sawyer+Full+Potential+Foundation+6

It’s best to keep a few key factors in mind when using this. Remember to prep your face fully prior to use. Moisturize well, prime, and apply a good base that will allow the foundation to ease onto face easily as the formula isn’t all that creamy and takes a bit of work to buff on. I highly suggest grabbing the Tricia Sawyer Foundation Brush for application as it’s a nice small brush head that gets into the pot easily and buffs the foundation perfectly onto skin. Remember, it’s very important to use a small amount of product to start (likely a small amount will be all you need) and later if you need more you can build up coverage. The product is rich in pigmentation and using too much will make you look quite “made up” so to speak.

The formula is oil free so it’s feels quite weightless on (if you use the correct amount that is). Interestingly enough it almost feels like a mineral foundation and has a powder like dry down on the face. Luckily, the finish of the foundation doesn’t interfere with my dry skin and wears well. The powder-like finish does make me wonder how well it would work for oily skin so I’ll have to wait for Summer to find out.

This comes in four shades and as I mentioned above I tried medium but I do think light would have been a better match considering I like wearing my foundation a shade or two lighter than my natural skin tone. I thought that medium was too beige for me but it still wore quite well just not what I’m used too.

The Tricia Sawyer Foundation Brush I mentioned earlier on is quite good and I’m glad I had it for application. It fits the contour of my face quite well and makes buffing foundation on easy! It’s now a favorite go to brush for foundation application as it’s small head size fits easily under my eyes, on the sides of my nose, etc…quite a nice little brush.

Tricia+Sawyer+Full+Potential+Foundation+8

Tricia+Sawyer+Full+Potential+Foundation+9

Tricia+Sawyer+Full+Potential+Foundation+10

All in all quite a few people would absolutely love the benefits of Tricia Sawyer Full Potential Foundation especially if they have major problem areas that need extra coverage. I’m still in my testing phase and I haven’t quite decided if I love it yet but I definitely like what I’ve tried so far!

Who would might love it?

  • Anyone who has acne scarring, large pores, or other skin problems they want to hide with a pigmented foundation.
  • Those with dry skin who prefer a cream foundation that doesn’t settle into fine lines, age your skin, or flake up.
  • Those who like their foundation to perform double duty as a means of coverage for both the face and the under eye area.

Overall, the product has some seriously great points and I think it could hide pretty much any drama you may be experiencing on your face. Particularly I think it could possibly be a wonder treatment for covering major problems.

Visit with Tricia Sawyer for more info about this fine foundation or drop by Sephora who carries the entire like of Tricia Sawyer Cosmetics.

Prescriptives Flawless Face Primer Review

Prescriptives made a wise choice dubbing it’s new primer “Flawless Face” as it indeed delivers on the promise of a flawless face.

The Muse has been burnt by primers before and particularly isn’t a fond fan of Smashbox Photofinish. Can you say itchy and acne? Ack! I normally chalk up almost all primers and compare them to Smashbox Photofinish which makes me generally wary of attempting to test any out but I’m sure glad I said yes to Prescriptives Flalwess Face Primer as indeed it’s a great find!

Prescriptives+Flawless+Face+Primer+1

Prescriptives+Flawless+Face+Primer+2

I don’t need a primer to cover lines or pores but I do need one to help keep my foundation fresh, aid my foundation to apply easily, and allow my foundation to look flawless when on. Prescriptives Flawless Face Primer does all three quite successfully!

Prescriptives+Flawless+Face+Primer+3

Prescriptives+Flawless+Face+Primer+4

Prescriptives+Flawless+Face+Primer+5

I hate silicon based primers since they tend to pill on my face and also cause me to itch and break out. Pilling, if you’re not familiar with the word, is an effect of product coming off the skin in little rolls and clumps that resembles skin…yuk! Eye creams are legendary for pilling and primers in my case as well. Prescriptives does have a bit of silicon feel to it’s formula but it manages to feel moisturizing when applied and does not pill. This is oil free so it absorbs easily without leaving behind a greasy feeling or causing itching and acne later on!

Prescriptives+Flawless+Face+Primer+6

The primer gives skin a smooth, even texture to allow foundation to apply easily and seamlessly while making it last longer. It’s quite thick so it should work quite well at filling pores, fine lines, and other problem areas you might have. For me it’s a combination product as it acts as a primer but also illuminates my face due to it’s pearl like finish. I really like this one and I imagine I’ll repurchase it once I’m done.

Prescriptives+Flawless+Face+Primer+7

Prescriptives+Flawless+Face+Primer+8

Prescriptives+Flawless+Face+Primer+9

Prescriptives+Flawless+Face+Primer+10

Overall, the product allows my foundation to glide on easily, keeps my foundation fresh for 2 to 3 hours longer than usual, and allows my face to look flawless and perfect so indeed it keeps many of the promises it makes.

Who should try it?

  • Anyone will large pores, fine lines, or imperfections that need extra prepping prior to foundation use.
  • Those who desire a flawless, even complexion.
  • Anyone who wants their foundation to look and stay fresh for hours on end.

Prescriptives Flawless Face Primer is $27.50 USD and available now from www.prescriptives.com
