Just wanted to say I am a bit behind on stuff this week. I have to pick winners for last week’s giveaways and mail out a few giveaways (if you haven’t gotten your prize don’t worry it’s coming your way soon). Most important I am very, very, very, very behind on e-mail. Apologies if I haven’t replied, I’ve just been swamped. I’m also a bit behind on comments and hope to get that cleared up shortly as well.
The MAC Marilyn Monroe Collection has launched online and will be available this Thursday on counter. The collection is an ode to one of Hollywood’s most glamorous stars, Marilyn Monroe.
If MAC was going to be inspired by anyone I’d say Marilyn was a good pick to represent classic, silver screened beauty. The collection features an array of products inspired by the starlet and features her beautiful image on the packaging.
Marilyn Monroe was a very minimalist beauty queen in my eyes. Some liner, vibrant red lips, and milky skin was about the extent of her look so of course, MAC introduced four vibrant, limited edition shades of red lipstick to suit a ton of different skin tones.
I’m not a fond fan of red lipstick but I’ve come across a few that I hold on tight too. I typically look best (or I’m delusional that I look good) in warmer shades of red. I think it’s nice that the MAC Marilyn Monroe Collection has a variety of reds to choose from to suit cooler and warmer skin tones.
Let’s take a look at two of my favorite shades from the launch.
I can’t get the stupid Cruella song out of my head every since word popped on E.L.F.’s new Villain Eye Palette Collection. I sing it in the shower, I hum it at work, God what an ear worm to have.
As you know E.L.F. released three Disney Villain inspired Eyeshadow Palettes for Halloween 2012. The palettes are $9.99 each and available exclusively at Walgreens (in most cases they can be found in the Halloween section of the store).
The palettes are made from a sturdy cardboard and feature essentials for creating a Villain themed eye look.
I got my hands on Cruella’s Eyeshadow Palette recently.
I got my hands on the new Disney Cinderella Storylook Eyeshadow Palette available at Sephora. Quite excited. At first glance of the promo image I was somewhat wary of the cooler, pastel shades but I’m happy to report there are some warmer shades in the mix as well.
The Storylook Eyeshadow Palette ($55) is home to twenty eyeshadows inspired by none other than Cinderella herself. With original artwork created by Disney that portrays Cinderella’s silhouette on the outer packaging of the palette in silver and gold detailing.
The pull out velvet lined tray holds a secondary shade holding the eyeshadows. The tray of shadows is easily removed so you can keep the outer packaging as a jewelry box or a place to hold small treasures after you’re done with the palette.
