I know, I know you’ve been waiting ALL day for this little entry haven’t you? I fear I’m boring you with my spotlight on concealers lately but hopefully you’ve found at least one out of the batch I’ve reviewed so far that works for you!
Today I’m reviewing Lancome’s Maquicomplet Complete Coverage Concealer. That rolls right off the tongue doesn’t it? Is it bad to admit I have no idea how to properly pronounce Maquicomplet?
I noticed that I never really review concealer in the proper light. I don’t use concealer to cover pimples or problem skin. I’m too bloody old for acne and I don’t have anything that needs covering that my foundation doesn’t already do. I’m kinda disappointed in myself because I should really review it from all angles. But I only use concealer for under eye coverage plus even if I have a pimple pop up I think layering concealer or foundation on top of it is rather gross and causes me to break out further! Yak!
Anyway!
Apologies for never properly giving you the deets on covering up pimples or problem skin with concealer!
However, Lancome Maquicomplet Complete Coverage Concealer does a mighty nice job of concealing my dark circles and extra baggage! Maquitcomplet comes in nine shades that pretty much suit all skin tones and while carrying the correct tints to neutralize problems like dark circles. For instance I have the most lightest shade available which has a perfect yellow base to conceal my dark circles.
The packaging is a wand style applicator which for me is just as great as a click pen. Smoothing and blending this on is simple and mess free with the provided sponge tip applicator. Stroke on, pat into place, and your dark circles are gone. The product is pigmented enough to conceal dark circles perfectly however my baggy eyes weren’t as fresh looking as I’d have liked after use but I still find the product offers excellent coverage for dark circles. The formula is a thin liquid however it is creamy and quite moisturizing. I had no problems with creasing under my eyes after blending and wear lasted for at least six hours before I needed to touch up.
The price might scare you at $27.50 USD however if you’re lemming this after my review you can head on over to Bergdorf Goodman and indulge in a gift with purchase!
Spend $35 USD and with any Lancome purchase you’ll recieve a chic grey and burgundy tote filled with gorgeous samples of Color Fever Gloss and Lipstick, an eyeshadow quad, blush, mascara, Bi-Facil, Absolute Premium BX Face and Night Cream, and a Three Piece Brush Set!
Plus Lancome is always giving away something so purchasing a concealer at $27.50 USD plus nabbing a great GWP is well worth it dontcha think?
I’m actually going to head to my Lancome counter to nab that bag of goodies! I’ll be purchasing the Maharani Jewels Quad…perfect excuse to splurge $40 on a palette when I’m getting such an awesome gift! Review to follow!
The Muse likes Lancome Maquicomplet Complete Coverage Concealer and thinks it’s worth looking at to cover up your dark circle woes!

Those naughty kids over at Jaqua Beauty have been busy concocting a brand new fragrance that’s both sinful and delicious!
Raspberry Buttercream Frosting is the newest addition to Jaqua’s decadent Bath and Body Collection and the Muse couldn’t be happier that she got the chance to test out the new Shower Creme and Lip Whip (dontcha love the sound of that? Lip Whip! It simply rolls off the tongue and makes me shiver in delight!). Since Raspberry Buttercream Frosting Lip Whip deserves it’s very own review I’ll be saving that for later however I will tell you all about the new Raspberry Buttercream Frosting Shower Creme.
Mmm…simply Mmmm….
This stuff should have a big, fat illegal sticker slapped on it! It’s rich, sinful, and gorgeous. It’s terribly sweet and fruity with just a tiny hint of frosting. It’s definately not a foody sort of smell so don’t expect baked goods or vanilla do to the “frosting” in it’s title. It’s more of a sweet, fruity blend of raspberries that has a under note of an exotic perfume. It’s fascinating how they blended up something that not only holds the wonderful sweetness of the berries but also manages to keep an interesting and unique note that’s sophisticated. Yes, indeed, the Muse likey but maybe I really shouldn’t tip the bottle into my mouth right? Danger, Will Robinson, Danger!
I’ve have a small stash of Jaqua’s Shower Syrup decorating my bathroom closet however I’ve never tried the Shower Creme. To me the formula is about the same but the Shower Syrups are a tiny bit thicker in consistency than the creme. I’ve always loved how very rich Jaqua’s products are in formula. They are very thick, very moisturizing, and just an all around posh product. The Shower Creme are no different from any other product I’ve tried from Jaqua in the fact that they are a solid, quality, posh product that delivers both moisture to the skin while spoiling us in a wonderful fragrance! In this case that wonderful fragrance is Raspberry Buttercream Frosting! The creme lathers up wonderfully well and offers a nice lingering scent on the skin! Yum!
Waste not want not kids! After the photo I scooped all that lovely gel up and washed my hands with it! I know, I know, the life of a Beauty Blogger is a dirty, dangerous job but someone has to do it!
I see myself indulging in the rest of the collection shortly. I can’t help it that bloody gloss ring is calling out to me!

Oh my god, I’m green with envy that the Muse’s lovely mate Zara from Kiss and Makeup has gotten a chance to play around with Givenchy’s new Phenomen’eyes Mascara! The Muse has indulged in some of the Givenchy Dancy Collection for Fall 2008 but she wanted to check out Givenchy’s newest mascara in store to get a feel for it!
After reading Kiss and Makeup’s review I know I NEED it now! Killer long lashes…the Muse likey!
I’ll be indulging for sure after seeing the length of Zara’s lashes after using Phenomen’eyes! You have to see it to believe so head on over to Kiss and Makeup for today’s Beauty Byte to read the review and see the photos for yourself!
I’ve never heard of it before, I’ve never seen it before, and probably would have never gotten a chance to even try it if my beautiful mate Aya didn’t mention it to me. During one of our e-mails she said that she noticed I was looking for a good mascara remover and proceeded to recommend this stuff!
Well, Aya’s rave is spot on!
It’s freaking good stuff!
This removes virtually everything from your face without drying it. It does a particularly killer job removing waterproof mascara and eye makeup. The formula is very strange as it’s not oily but just like pure water! I simply took a large cotton square, pumped a few squirts on and went to work on my eyes. After I took another cotton square and did my face. Aya had suggested rinsing afterward although you don’t have to as per the instructions I took her advice and had a quick rinse. Presto done! Just as the bottle advertises, “Ready for bed as soon as possible!”
I was so excited about Cleansing Express Moist Cleansing Lotion I had to go on my merry googling way and find out more about it!
How I missed this video is beyond me as I closely follow Lady L’s going ons. Call me a stalker but she fascinates me and I adore her blog!
Hopefully she doesn’t mind too much that I’m totally snatching her youTube video and showing it here! Check it, Lady L working her magic with Cleansing Express Moist Cleansing Lotion:
As you can see it removes virtually all traces of eye makeup! It works all over the face so it multitasks as both an eye makeup remover and face cleanser plus did I mention it’s cheap as chips?
I paid retail at around 800 yen I believe. Can’t beat the price as the bottle is huge but I imagine it’ll go fast as you do need a few squirts for both eyes and face but hey it’s cheap..just buy more!
I can see this easily become a cult favorite for me right up there with Kose Airy Whip which means I’m seeing my future and it consists of me buying cases of Cleansing Express Moist!
Although you can’t purchase it for retail if you’re not in Japan you can get it from Weichi for $13.99 USD which is still a steal in my opinion! Click!
Did I mention the cleanser is water based and contains no alcohol? Gotta love it! Keeps getting better and better doesn’t it?
Do I love it?
But of course!
Am I stashing it? Yes….the Muse needs cases of this stuff!
Muse Approval for this one! I love it! I believe I found my holy grail eye makeup remover!
For today’s concealer post I’ll be spotlighting Bobbi Brown’s Creamy Concealer!
Although I had a little trouble with Bobbi Brown’s Concealer Palette I must say that I had no such woes with Bobbi Brown’s Creamy Concealer. I have this in the lightest shade which is Porcelain. The color sports both beige, pink, and yellow tones which are extremely flattering to my medium-fair skin and do a superior job of covering up dark circles, fine lines, and extra baggage.
The formula is extremely emollient and moisturizing so much so that you may find it a bit too thick for your liking however using a concealer brush for application helps a whole lot. I really loved how wonderfully moisturizing the formula was and I think it’s completely suitable and an absolute god sent for anyone that’s 30 or over. The formula sports some key benefits such as being extremely creamy, thick, and pigmented. The thickness of the product accounts for it’s moisturizing benefits and although at first it may be a tad bit difficult to blend once heated you should have no problem with application.
The concealer is very long wearing and waterproof. I had no problem with creasing or caking and the product just looked simply flawless on and successfully made my eyes look younger and refreshed. This comes in 12 shades so you’re sure to find a match for your tone.
At $22 USD the price tag isn’t too bad either in my opinion for the quality of the product and the very long wear you can get out of it however you might worry about the size. The compact is tiny however since you only need a very tiny bit to cover up your problem areas you can easily get a year out of a single compact or more.
Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer has successfully created a good, solid concealer that delivers!
I’m normally not one for fiber mascaras but I couldn’t resist purchasing one of these since I’m a big lover of Majolica Majorca mascara however this is a big disappointment for me and of course the main reason is the fact it’s a fiber mascara.
Although to look at it you’d never know it was fiber based as the wand doesn’t have a ton of fibers sticking from it once it’s removed from the tube however once applied I instantly get that lash in the eye feeling that’s both irritating physically and emotionally. Damn right I said emotionally! I got emotional when I have to go through a work day feeling like I have lashes stuck in my eye and unable to do a damn thing about it! Ahhhhhh! The irritation is too much to take!
Lash Gorgeous Wing is not the first fiber mascara released from Majorca Majolica but it is the first mascara that has a brush applicator as all previous versions sport the Muse beloved comb applicator which take lashes to crazy long lengths!
The mascara does exactly what it promises in providing you with feathery light lashes that keep the curl all day long however if you’re not a big lover of fibers you might want to avoid this. I, for one, picture this making a guest starring appearance in the bottom of the makeup draw graveyard.
I like my lashes to look fat and long. Although Lash Gorgeous Wing did give me ok lenght I wasn’t loving the fact that it separated my lashes and made them look alot less full and more natural. The Muse does not like the natural look. I also felt like the mascara didn’t have the exact same inky black formula Majolica Majorca mascara is known for, it seemed much lighter.
The brush wasn’t exactly working to my satisfaction either since it didn’t give me the volume I’ve come to expect from Majorca Majolica due to the awesome comb applicator previous versions had. I’ve always loved how fat and full the regular version of Majolica Majorca made my lashes this however fails on that account terribly.
I’m glad I paid retail at 1,290 yen because I’d seriously be upset if I had paid more. This, I sadly have to say, isn’t exactly what I wanted from Majolica Majorca. I’ve come to expect better from there mascara and this is definately no where near the best.
The Muse gives it a thumb down! Definitely not loving it! Perhaps I’ll have better luck with the new palettes! Stay tuned for my review!
Anyone try it?

Head into your local craft shop (Michaels, Jo-Ann, A.C. Moore, Etc…) and stroll down the woodcraft aisle, you should come across some of these cute, unfinished (customize ‘em if you want with paint, stickers, rub ons, etc…) pencil cases for $1 USD each!
Use ‘em to store lipsticks, glosses, eyeshadows, etc….
Beauty Math that equals easy, simple, and cheap cosmetic storage!
Loves it!
What are some of your cheap cosmetic storage ideas?
Here’s a cheap one for you that works pretty good. Excited? Don’t be too hyped! It has it’s flaws sadly.
Physicians Formula Circle RX Concealer covers virtually everything and anything and stays on all day. It’s one of the concealers I grab for when I need SERIOUS coverage. If you’re sporting major baggage, deep, dark circles, and just generally bad problems with your under eye area here in lays your solutions.
This stuff sincerely covers anything and everything. It’s extremely pigmented and blends easily into the skin creating a very matte, fresh look to your under eye woes. It’s a yellow based concealer which we all know helps combat dark circles but this does double duty at fighting off severe dark circles and any other drama you have going on under your eyes. Although the color appears to be very yellow it does blend in well and creates good coverage that lasts at least 10 hours or more. The formula is moisturizing enough but I did find it quite drying under my eyes however if you have younger skin this might not be a problem for you. The formula is extremely dense as well and lacks the watery texture that most liquid concealers sport. It’s like a thick cream almost which accounts for ease of application.
Overall, it’s a rather great concealer that does have a few flaws.
The packaging design is both good and bad. One good thing is the very nifty slanted applicator that makes applying easy. Swipe under your eye, blend, and go. Nice. However, the lid is so difficult to get off that you’ll end up removing both the lid and applicator if you tug too hard. Major flaw in my opinion and rather annoying as well.
Secondly, the formula is drying to my eye. If you have dry skin you might want to use this only when you need the 12 hour sleep effect look otherwise avoid it as a daily concealer.
Lastly, it does contain a cocktail of parabens that may turn you off to purchasing this.
Aside from this rants I do think the concealer is a good deal at around $7-9 USD. It does a superior job of covering EVERYTHING and anything plus it has sincerely fantastic wear time.
Is it worth picking up?
Yes, for the price it’s worth having on hand for the days you get an hour or two of sleep and need to look awake and fresh!
