Tarina Tarantino Dollskin Cream Blush & Pressed Sparklicity Review and Swatches

My love for Dollskin Blush knows no bounds so of course I needed to try out the new Tarina Tarantino Dollskin Cream Blush & Pressed Sparklicity.

These combine my love of shimmer with a cream blush for a sparkling Summer glow!

These come in the same gunmetal gray packaging as the original Dollskin Blushes however, they are a little bigger in size and the price of $28 reflects that. You’re looking at 0.16 oz/0.23 oz of product here versus the originally blushes of 0.2 for $25.

Each duo features a cream blush as well as a pressed Sparklicity Powder. Considering Sparklicity Powder has always been offered loose this might be very appealing if you wanted a pressed version for easier application. You’ll be applying the cream blush first and a bit of the sparkle powder on top for a little added highlight and glow.

Stop the press…this Sparklicity Powder is intense. For my photos below I didn’t use it as it photographs rather crazy and I have enough crazy glittery pics on my blog already eh? You have to be quite careful with these because as beautiful as they are, they are less than refined and the shimmer is quite chunky. I sincerely lack the application know how to get them on correctly and I end up looking like I dove into a pool of glitter when I use them. If you’re a master highlighter with a lighter hand you’ll be a ok but if you’re anything like me, heavy handed and shimmer happy, you might find application challenging.

The cream blushes are the real gold for me. I’m not too big a fan of cream blushes but these as gorgeous and have a lovely radiant glow on cheeks. The formula runs pretty thin for a cream blush but they do pack a nicely pigmented punch and build easily. The moisturizing formula isn’t sticky and has a semi-matte dry down that isn’t powdery but just melds with skin for a flawless, lightweight finish.

Coral Cameo

Mr Pink

Overall, I’d probably be happier with cream blush alone as I’m a stinker at getting the Sparklicity down correctly but hey, these are awful pretty as a duo! If you’re a fond fan of cream blushes you’ll adore them. My only issue? Lack of variety…they are only available in two shades so far. I’m still a big fan and lover of Tarina’s powder blushes but these are quite fitting for the Summer.

Muse Approved for purchase.

Quite worth picking up…!

Aw man, I would super want the Coral one but that sucks about the powder! First of all it’s powder and cream in one compact, second of all I hate chunky shimmer, third of all I don’t know how to apply powder shimmer over cream blush nicely….

I thought it was a cream highlighter at first, so I was really considering buying one but nope…no go. Good for my wallet I suppose, I am really not supposed to be buying color makeup at the moment.

  • Amy

Have you tried a small fan brush for applying the shimmer? And I’m so happy this is a good product and isn’t one of those super matte cream blushes! ^-^ Wiiiii totally made up for the lost of the Canmake Shimmer Eye Jelly things

    • the Muse

I have indeed but it’s still a little too much! I’m just a dork with shimmer ;-D

  • Wonderland

  • midori

They are pretty and I love how they look on you, especially Coral Cameo <3
I'd be all over them if they were powder, but I recently found out that I don't like cream blushes (I am horrible at applying them). …Is it just me or does TT packaging bring back memories of those Sailor Moon toys that were quite popular a long time ago ; D?

    • the Muse

aw thanks midori you’re a love! haha beauty and sailor moon=SWOON!

  • Southern Gorgeous

I don’t know what I love more, the packaging or the product! Both look so good!!

Ps, the Whovians on tumblr are going crazy, we’re predicting Benedict Cumberpatch to be the 12th doctor!!

    • the Muse

hmm really why? I thought heard he was cast as the Master but the Moff has gone on record as saying that isn’t true….why so much hype for number 12? No word on regeneration as of yet…?

ps thank you ;-D <3! you're lovely to say so!

      • Ruth

I’m so not ready for a new Doctor yet, Matt Smith is quite brilliant in his portrayal. I kinda hope that he stays around for awhile. and he’s pretty hot in a skinny, nerdy way

  • Winni

Coral cameo is gorgeous on you! I think I’d use the powder as eyeshadow. P.S. you’re awesome.

    • the Muse
