Milani Minerals Mousse Foundation Review and Swatches

Milani Minerals Mousse Foundation is part of the Milani Spring Collection 2009. Available in six shade this oil-free mineral foundation offers a mousse like texture with a built in primer.

Innovative? Yes. Does it work?

Read ahead to find out!

Milani Minerals Mousse Foundation sounds like thee perfect formula with it’s light-weight mineral base oil-free formula that offers a silicon base which fills pores, evens out skin tone, and diminishes the appearance of fine lines.

This brand new foundation is supposedly suitable for all skin types and provides medium to full coverage with a small amount (a very small amount, take my word for it, small is good…). Enriched with vitamins A&E, parabeen-free, and oil free this foundation sounds like a dream come true. Available in six shade selections Milani Minerals Mousse Foundation is $8.49 USD.

Sadly, the dream ended as soon as I tried it out. I tested it in the shade 304 Classic Beige and it was WAY too dark. It was really a rough shade of beige that applied almost orange on my skin and seriously when I say use a tiny bit please do as the foundation is super max pigmented and a little goes a very long way. The texture is that of cream cheese, very thick with a mousse like consistency. I absolutely hated how it felt on my skin as it has a good base of silicon in it that made me itchy and greasy feeling, this is exactly why I don’t like Smashbox Photofinish. Once it was in place I just felt like I had a second skin on and looked heavily made up which I chalk up as the color being very wrong for my tone. I can’t deny that I was pretty impressed with how pigmented the product was but it’s such a heavy base that I couldn’t really make proper use of it. The foundation also has a strange scent that one could describe as fresh but for me it was a tad bit cheap smelling. It blends quite well but even with proper blending it just sits on top of my skin which in turn makes it feel very strange on my face.

All in all I really can’t say I liked this one but I feel somewhat tempted to re-test using another shade. I recommend it to those who have large pores and like the idea of a foundation with a built in primer. It has plenty of silicon to fill large and small pores, fine lines, and any other skin woes you’re looking to cover.

Who might love it?

  • Anyone who wants to fill in large pores
  • Anyone who likes the idea of a silicon based foundation that acts as coverage and primer all in one prodct
  • Anyone who desires a heavily pigmented foundation

At $8.49 USD I do recommend checking it out for yourself as I have some strange feeling that this might somehow become a cult favorite, sadly, this was a no go for me.

Anyone try it yet?

i just got this in nude buff….i think if i were you i’d try it in a different shade, for me the coverage with a little is perfect for me, light to medium, and it works really well. that chalkiness and stuff could be because you got the wrong shade.

yup brianna def could use a lighter shade here myself 😀 Overall, very good just a little heavy for my skin right now which is doomed for dryness come the cold weather 😛

I fear mousse foundations since I tried the Maybelline version. after 2 hours I got more foundations on my clothes than on my skin.

But there’s a good silicon based formula that I like, from Coastal Scents. Very good coverage, but feels light on skin. I’ve been using it every[hotlikehell]day since I got it. (Now it’s around 32C here) It’s good for summer, but not drying.

It’s a wonderful low cost foundation, in my opinion. 🙂
