About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. Oh I so look forward to all of these, especially the mini travel size blush! Thanks for sharing!

Isabella, I need help. I want the Edit 3 palette, but I’m having a hard time with the price tag. I recently purchased the diffused light trio from Nordstrom containing the diffused light powder, bronzer and blush, which I really like…especially the blush! Now I am interested in trying more blush shades and found a blush palette on eBay, but it is the strobe blush addition and sparkle is not my friend. Does Hourglass produce a blush/combo trio every spring, or is the Edit 3 the only one until next fall? I’m not sure if I should jump on this or sit tight and wait for spring. Any ideas? Thank you so much!

    • Isabella Muse

Hey! Not really. They did one for Spring 2016 but 2015 they did not, that was the year they launched their eyeshadow palettes and Spring 2014 was the year the introduced Ambient Blush singles. So, there isn’t a tradition of them launching a trio palette in the Spring. I’m not really sure what they have planned for Spring, maybe they might launch a new palette but maybe not. It’s hard to say. This MIGHT be the only one until Holiday next year. But don’t quote me. The only thing I could suggest is wait for 20% off at Sephora to snag it. You’d save $16 which isn’t too shabby. OR you can be extra patient and see if it ends up on sale on Boxing Day. I’m like no help but I actually find Hourglass releases very unpredictable. The only time you might guess at a launch is during the Holidays. Any other seasonal releases have always come as a surprise to me!

      • Cheryl

Thank you! That is very helpful. I have not reached VIB status, so I can only hope for 10%, and Sephora has an 8% cash back deal on Ebates, so I will probably just snag it and stop obsessing. Thanks again!

        • Isabella Muse

My pleasure! Don’t forget beautylish.com carries hourglass so they might get the palette and potential for a holiday or black Friday coupon! 😀

          • Cheryl

I did not know that. Thank you! You are so good about keeping my credit card focused on the right products at the right time to maximize the bang for my buck!

          • Isabella Muse

my pleasure 🙂 <3! I'll def post if Beautylish has a sale soon! Keep my fingers crossed for you! 😀

          • kjh

Is Black Friday when Beautylish does the 20 gift card thing? I swear I should keep a planning calendar, rather than having to scroll online bank statements. That is one very great deal. Get your LEs in season, and have the 20s for perms later.

  • Lauren

Hmm, the lipstick set is interesting for me, especially since it actually contains colors that I might find wearable. Usually, the holiday sets all contain shades that are not wearable for me, either too bright or too pale, but these seem to be right up my alley!

I have a very hard time paying their prices for the ambient lighting powder palettes, though.

  • Deb

Ok sister, we need to talk! You’ve got to stop posting all of the Hourglass stuff. I am so burned out on makeup but somehow they get me every time. So of course I had to jump on this and order a few new things.

My credit card actually jumped out of my wallet, looked at me, and said….”you’ve been browsing Musings of a Muse again, right?”

  • Lisa C

Omgosh, I saw where you posted that Beautylish has Hourglass now? I looked and I didn’t see anything. Is this a new brand for them?

      • Lisa C

That is so weird, when I search for Hourglass it says no results found. But thanks for the link. So weird!!

          • Lisa C

Sorry, I meant when I do a search nothing comes up for Hourglass. Because it’s not even listed as one of their brands they carry. It seems the only way I can see it is through your link. It’s just very strange!

          • Isabella Muse

I’m not sure. Maybe contact them directly? Perhaps a quirk with their website? I just google beautylish hourglass and it pops up.

          • Isabella Muse

ah I just looked and it says on their site when I click an item “Beautylish does not carry this brand” interesting! Must be something weird with their site? I never purchased Hourglass from them but I believe last year I was looking for Varnish reviews and they were available on Beautylish’s site.

          • Cheryl

When you search the beautylish site for the hourglass brand, get returns no results. I suspect they don’t currently have any hourglass products in stock. The link you provided, Isabella, does take you to a number of our glass products on the beauty Lish site, but when you click on individual item, it says that it is not in stock. Their site is just set up a bit strange.

          • Isabella Muse

yup, just noticed that! Sorry about that :-/ But don’t worry if I hear of any good sales I’ll update ya!

          • Cheryl

No worries! Lacking any semblance of patience, I went ahead and ordered the palette from Sephora, using Ebates to save a little bit – 8%. It should arrive today! I’m excited to try some more Hourglass products! Thanks for looking out for my bank account!

          • Isabella Muse

good on ya! At least you got back 8% back! Big fat ebate check will add up by the time Holidays arrive 😀

          • Cheryl

Cash back is great, but I’m hoping Ulta gets some good stuff in for the holidays, as I have $180 in points saved for the occasion, with more points to be earned once I pay my car insurance. (Ugh)
