Too Faced Just Peachy Mattes Velvet Matte Eyeshadow Palette is a new, permanent eyeshadow palette that launched with the new Sephora exclusive Peaches & Cream Collection which contains 12 matte finish peach inspired eyeshadow shades.

Out of everything from the Peaches & Cream Collection this was the item I was most excited about checking out. You guys know I’m not much of a matte girl but I’m embracing the finish more and more nowadays. I thought the idea of all matte peachy shades sounded like a good one. And I was right! Out of the box this is a rather stunning selection of shades. They are so bold and quite rich looking.

Let’s take a look at my review, thoughts, and swatches.

Too Faced Just Peachy Mattes Velvet Matte Eyeshadow Palette comes housed in a stunning, weighty compact with a generously sized mirror that’s reminiscent of the Becca X Chrissy Teigen Glow Face Palette and Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Face Palette. The palette is completely gold with a glossy, lacquered face plate. It has an adorable dual peach clasp to open and close the palette. The names for each of the eyeshadows is printed under each shade and as promised it does have a sweet, peachy scent. I find the scent sweeter and a bit stronger compared to the Sweet Peach Eyeshadow Palette but it doesn’t linger and I couldn’t smell it during application on my eyes. This is made in the USA.

I can’t express how much I’m loving the packaging on this entire collection. Too Faced spent a lot of time making these products look very pretty and appealing. That’s understandable as this collection is a permanent fixture at Sephora stores. I’m a visual person and I like pretty things. Therefore I like my makeup to look pretty. I think most makeup users would agree that packaging is a key selling point. Considering this is a permanent collection they want to sell it and making it visually good looking and well made will obviously sell products faster.

Most people will feel that the Just Peachy Mattes Palette is comparable to Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Eyeshadow Palette but I don’t think any of these shades are exact dupes. The colors just look similiar but aren’t dupes of each. Which means you can feel confident heading into a purchase without ending up with dupes of shades you may already own.

Too Faced calls the shadow formula a comfortable matte with an intense color payoff. Their idea for the entire collection was to create an easy to apply, blend, and wear collection of mattes. Thus far, they’ve been successful as I’ve tried both the Too Faced Peach Perfect Mattifying Setting Powder and Too Faced Peach Blur Translucent Smoothing Finishing Powder and both have exceeded my expectations in terms of application and comfortable wear that wasn’t dry nor looked dry.

Too Faced Just Peachy Mattes Velvet Matte Eyeshadow Palette Swatches (Peaches and Cream, Fresh-Picked, Peach Sangria, Chocolate Dipped)

Too Faced Just Peachy Mattes Velvet Matte Eyeshadow Palette Swatches (Peach Butter, Just Peachy, Peach Punch, Just Ripe)

Too Faced Just Peachy Mattes Velvet Matte Eyeshadow Palette Swatches (Peach Meringue, Peach Tea, Peach Cobbler, Peach Tart)

The formula isn’t quite as silky as I expected. I was hoping for silky, easy to apply mattes but the texture ran a little drier. These are quite dense but and not at all powdery but they aren’t as dry as the Too Faced Peanut Butter and Honey Eyeshadow Palette. They actually blend and apply easily but some shades needed layering to get the best color pay off. For example, Peach Punch is a stunning dark coral pink but it applied sheerer and needed to be to be built to get that exact color in the pan onto your lid.

I do believe these work best over primer as the shades have a tendency to fade easily and they adhere best to a creamier primer. This also intensifies the shades and gives them the best color pay off. On their own, some shades apply weaker and sheerer with fading within a two hour period on my drier lids. Over primer, they applied much intenser and didn’t fade as quickly.

There are quirks but this is by know means Too Faced’s worst palette. I actually liked it. A lot. It’s a good warm selection of unique colors that create some very interesting looks and it released at the perfect time as the selection of shades are quite Fall friendly.

All in all, Too Faced Just Peachy Mattes Velvet Matte Eyeshadow Palette has some application and wear issues but if you’re willing to put some work into it you might find this one very enjoyable. I’m glad I purchased it and I think I’ll make a good deal of use out of it this Fall. I really like these shades.

Too Faced Just Peachy Mattes Velvet Matte Eyeshadow Palette is available now exclusively at Sephora and Sephora.com.

    • Isabella Muse

I thought it was too! It has some quirks with wear and application but I enjoyed it and I think I’ll make a lot of use out of it for Fall!

  • kjh

Great for you, but it is arguable that you have the world’s most poppin’ eyes, anyway! This collection flatters you immensely. For anyone who wishes to compare this with Mod Ren, I believe you can do a palette comparison on Temptalia. I ‘fess to not having done that yet for anything, but it is a T feature.

  • Susan

Looks great on you! I saw another blogger post comps to the ModRen and about six of the shades were extremely close, so since I have ModRen and the original Peach palette, I’m going to save my money for a holiday release or two. I really don’t need any more warm-toned shadows and have enough to choke a goat already. 😉

  • Christina

Looks nice on you. Peach shades don’t look too great on me, but the look you have on makes me want to buy it anyway. I’d probably only use the deeper shades. LOL!

  • Maria

The shades look great on you. Are they similar to the original TF peach palette ??

  • Maria

Thanks Muse. I might have to get this one. Very tempted. I wear eye glasses and these colors would show up

  • Dee

I had this in cart the day it came out and then removed it. I will have to purchase now that I’ve read your review. The look you’ve shown is gorgeous and the colors look amazing on you!

  • Christian

The look you did on your eyes with this palette is gorgeous! You look so pink and healthy! The color scheme is nice. However, I need some sparkle and shimmer in my palettes!

  • Jen

I had to give this one a hard pass, even after swatching it in store, and you and Christine both confirmed my first impressions of it being on the dryer side and needing to work certain shades. Plus, I have the Etude House play color eyes palettes in both Cherry Blossom and Wine Party, and they have similar shades.

…I’ll probably cave eventually after the hype dies down, except I’m trying to be really good about not buying too much makeup xD

  • Mo

Thanks for the review. I love the eye look you did! I definitely want to pick this palette up!

  • Macy

I think this palette has a striking resemblance to the E.L.F. Mad for Matte 2 ….

  • Kate

Yay! So happy this is Muse-approved. I held off because matted can be so dry/chalky, but I’ll definitely be picking this up. Looks great on you!

    • Isabella Muse

Not Muse Approved 🙂 but it was def a like Kate 😀 Thanks!!!!!! <3!

      • Wendy Sue

i always look for “Muse Approved”! I have to tell you I come to your blog looking for your reviews and opinions and all of my beauty purchases. You’re blog is so straight forward and easy to read, plus we like many of the same things. Over the years, I’ve come to trust and rely on your thoughts and opinions. Is that too OCD? LOL

        • Isabella Muse

aw thanks Wendy i’m so flattered <3! Not at all thank you! That means a lot to me!

  • Southern Belle

Is this palette and line exclusively to Sephora? or do you know if it will eventually end up being sold by other retailers>

  • Kimberly

Which colors are you wearing from the palette in your photo? I think the look is stunning!

I might put this new release on my wishlist– thanks Muse!

  • Love

I bought this one because I loved the colors, but had to return it! It doesn’t smell as good as the Sweet Peach Palette in my opinion. I thought it actually smelled more artificial — bummer, because I really liked the colors, especially Sangria and Chocolate Dipped. It gave me a headache though, and the primer and foundation made me itch (and the foundation wasn’t light enough for me either).I think I’ll use my 20% card for the I Want Kandee eye palette, since I just read your review on that one, and perhaps this week I’ll get the Tartelette 2 In Bloom — since you recommended that one too. 🙂 Does it have a smell (Bloom)? I have really sensitive skin, but I haven’t had any problems with my Chocolate Bar and I’m hoping that Tarte won’t irritate my eyes either.

Cheers, and thanks for all you do!

    • Isabella Muse

I’m the exact opposite, Love! I actually liked the way this smelled and thought it smelled more like a peach compared to the more subtle scent of the Sweet Peach Palette! ;D Aw I’m so sorry! That sucks! Could be the silicone in those products that made you itchy! No smell on the Tarte 🙂 thank goo0dness! Aw my pleasure dear xoxo!

      • Love

Silicone! That makes sense. I use mostly organic products for the things that go directly on my face: moisturizers, primers, etc. Then I feel like using a few novelties (like chocolate or peach scented palettes) are okay, because my skin isn’t directly absorbing them. Anyway, good to know! So the Bloom palette doesn’t smell like vanilla? I keep reading about it. Guess I’ll find out. 😀

        Cheers!

        • Isabella Muse

silicone makes me itchy like crazy sometimes! That could be it 😀 No, no vanilla scent there! Some of Tarte’s newer palettes smell kind of chocolate-y though!

  • Nina

I wish Ulta carried this! I have a ton of points ready to be used and since I can’t justify another palette right now points would have been perfect! I guess I’ll wait for a sale or it to come to Ulta!
Thanks for the review. These shades look awesome on you!
