Maybelline Lemonade Craze Eyeshadow Palette ($13.99) is a new citrus scented eyeshadow palette inspired by a cool drink of lemonade on a hot day. But I’d go so far as to call it an Arnold Palmer kind of eyeshadow palette though since there are nods to ice tea in the shades of this palette which to me makes it all the more wearable.

Let’s take a look at my review and swatches below.

The Maybelline Lemonade Craze Eyeshadow Palette is a unique offering in the realms of drugstore makeup. For starters the bold shades of yellow, fuchsia, and metallic copper isn’t something you run across everyday at the drugstore. Because let’s me honest, bold, bright shades aren’t something that pop up at the drugstore often! Scented eyeshadows aren’t either but Too Faced already cornered that market and Maybelline is just riding along on the coattails of that the success they’ve had with the Sweet Peach Eyeshadow Palette (L’Oreal is too as they have their own tropical scented makeup collection launching soon too!). Love the idea or hate it scented makeup is having its moment in the sun at the moment. I’m actually in the love group. I think the idea is novel and it brings back some of my childhood obsession with morning with scratch and sniff stickers and scented erasers, etc….! The scent is quite weak though so if you are sensitive it’s nothing to worry about. But it is disappointing if you expected a tart lemon-y scent. There’s a very weak citrus-like scent here that wasn’t terribly pleasant to my nose. Oh well!

The palette features 12 shades and arrives in a portable square palette with a cute little glass of lemonade decorating the front. The total weight of the shadows is 0.26 oz in size. On the back of the palette there are three get-the-look guides to create looks they called Lemonade Pop, Pink Lemonade, and Peach Lemonade. I think the palette’s packaging is well designed as not only are the get-the-look guides very helpbul but also, the name of each shade is printed below it which is quite helpful. It’s a nicely designed and presented palette.

Maybelline Lemonade Craze Eyeshadow Palette Swatches (Coral Punch, Sugar Coated, Main Squeeze, Sweet Tea)

Maybelline Lemonade Craze Eyeshadow Palette Swatches (Ice Pop, Old Fashioned, Sunnies, Lemonade Craze)

Maybelline Lemonade Craze Eyeshadow Palette Swatches (Sherbet, Citrus, Berry Ice, Strawberry Lemonade)

I felt like the eyeshadow range was really gorgeous and really worked well together. Don’t be scared of this palette. I realize people are thinking, “OMG yellow eyeshadow! I can’t pull off yellow eyeshadow!” Yes, there’s a bright shade of yellow in this palette but that isn’t the focus of the entire palette. There are some lovely subtle peaches, corals, browns, and golds in the palette. To me it’s like a peach lemonade ice tea assortment of shades. I was absolutely in love with the golden peach shade Citrus and the beautiful warm metallic brown called Sugar Coated and the lovely light gold of Main Squeeze. There are just so many pretty shades here that are completely wearable.

The shadows are a mix of mattes and shimmer finishes. Although mattes do dominate with seven of the twelve sporting the finish. This makes me sad because although soft and silky these mattes sheered our and faded away quickly on my eyes. A good solid cream base helps to intensify the color but during the blending process they still sheered out considerably. You’ll have to built quite a lot to get the best color pay off but I was honestly willing to work since I loved the shades so much.

The real stars of the show here are the shimmers which have a creamy slurry-like texture that blended easily, had excellent pigment, and really accented the sheerness of the matte and made them much more wearable. I piled on the bright yellow shade Lemonade Crazy all over my lid for the look below, used the bright fuchsia shade Ice Pop on the outer v, and popped Main Squeeze on top of Lemonade Crazy to intensify the yellow and add a bit of shimmer to my completed look.

Maybelline Lemonade Craze Eyeshadow Palette is not the best quality eyeshadow palette around but I don’t regret the purchase in the least. I can get some really fun and even subtle looks from this palette and can combine it with other fun shades from my own collection to create some great Summer looks. Would I recommend a purchase? Yes, despite the sheerness and poor quality of the mattes I’d still say go out there and buy this and experience it for yourself. It’s fun and makeup should be fun right?

P.S. I only created one look for this review but I plan on creating a few more looks. Would you like to see them?

Maybelline Lemonade Craze Eyeshadow Palette is starting to launch in a lot of different online stores including at CVS’s website which leads me to believe it’ll get a wider launch soon at drugstores. But if you can’t wait you can get it now at ulta.com and amazon.com.

If you own it, do share your thoughts!

Gorgeous look and yes, I’d like to see more looks.

So glad this palette worked out for you since mine should arrive Thursday!

    • Isabella Muse

LMK what you think! Eager to hear thoughts on this one ;-D and more looks upcoming ;-D

  • Linda Whitener

That’s a gorgeous look you created, Muse…and I’d love to see more. I really had my doubts about that palette, but you’re making a believer out of me.

    • Isabella Muse

the formula is iffy but it is workable and fun Linda ;-D Thank you!!!!!

  • Dee

This palette held absolutely no appeal to me until I saw your review . The look you have going on here is very pretty and I’m thinking the colors might work for me after all.

    • Isabella Muse

thank you!!!!!! The mattes are a little iffy but all in all I had fun with this and glad I purchased it!

  • Christina

These colours look great on you! I know you’re not into bright colours as much as you used to be, but a pop of yellow and pink looks fun and is still on the more conservative side. Such a fun palette for a drugstore option.

    • Isabella Muse

thanks Christina! 😀 I had fun with it. Plus if the bright shades aren’t doing it for me there are still a nice selection of subtle colors! ;D

  • Dee

Very pretty look you have going with this palette! I cannot wait to receive mine in the mail this week! Loving the color range, but am a little sad about the mattes fading. Maybelline may not have the best quality shadows, but I still like them enough to buy them. I miss those Plush Silk quads they used to sell. Those were great IMO! Thanks for this review!! 🙂

    • Isabella Muse

Thank you!!!!!!!!! I can’t wait to hear what you think! I MISS THOSE TOO! OMG! How I miss those! ;)D thanks for reading it!

      • Dee

Got mine yesterday and here are my first thoughts on trying it. Not digging the smell of this! To me, it smells something like peach tea or musty Play-Doh? lol. I can’t quite put my finger on it. As for the shadows, I found that the yellow (Lemonade Craze) fades into obscurity when trying to blend onto my lids. Now the pink (Ice Pop), I love how it looks on my lids, with not much fading. All other colors are very pretty and workable. Like you, I do like this palette, & glad I got it in my collection. I also can’t wait to try new looks with this. Great review Muse!

        • Isabella Muse

Ok, so this sounds weird but have you every made lemonade and had it sit in the fridge for a bit and the concentrate sort of settles at the bottom of the container. You have to remix it before serving it and someone it develops this weird off citrus scent like sort of moldy citrus? That’s sort of what this smells like to me. lol! That was way TMI! ;-D I had issues with yellow fading crazily too! I patted on and put a bit of the gold shimmery shade on top and that worked better for me but the mattes in general seem to fade away completely! Cream base helps but not much 🙁 I’m still glad I got it. It’s a fun palette ;-D thanks for updating me! I’m always curious if people feel the same about a release as I do!

          • Dee

Oh Muse!! lol! I never have lemonade last that long,,,, My hubby drinks it all too quick before it would even have time to settle. But thanks for telling me that,, cos I will NEVER smell it! lol!!
I will have to try different eye primers to see if ANY will help with the fading issue. Also, thanks for the gold shimmery shade suggestion. I will be trying that. It’s a shame,, but Maybelline could’ve/should’ve done much better with this. (Let’s hope that the NEW L’oreal Palette will be MUCH better,,, cos I am buying it when it releases. I hope it doesn’t smell like a moldy fruit bowl. LOL)

          • Isabella Muse

I make it all the time but I’m rarely home long enough to sit and enjoy it so I end up tossing it at the end of the week because once it settles it starts smelling/tasting gross! lol! That’s what this reminded me of. If you have a mac paint pot that would intensify the shade a lot ;-D My pleasure! They really could have! If this was good as the Burgundy Bar we’d be rolling around happily ;-D LOL omg yeah! rotting fruit scent lol!

  • Laurie

I thought it was odd that there was no hype for the Maybelline Burgundy Bar, which finally went on sale in the U.S. at virtually the same time as the Lemonade Craze. It’s not a spring-like set of colors, but I can remember hype months ago about its coming, yet not about its arrival. I am not one for warm eyeshadows, but it’s the Maybelline palette *I* pre-ordered after seeing a YouTube video by a Canadian influencer rather than the Lemonade Craze, which looks pretty basic except for that yellow. In theory, it’s a pretty color in theory, but is not so easy a shade to wear. It does look pretty on you, though. It’s nice to see you rockin’ the shades I can’t. I can experience vicariously the thrill of seeing someone wear my favorite shade of yellow!

    • Isabella Muse

I think the BB would have gotten way more press if they launched in the Fall! The color selection was a little off for Spring and it seemed to have fallen short when it did release a few short weeks ago! Damn shame beause it is very pretty! Honestly, aside from that yellow and pink the other shades are really workable and subtle in comparison 😀

  • Carol

I cannot wait! Mine shall arrive tomorrow! I was so hoping that this would be a keeper. Especially after the horrible Maybelline palettes we saw last year. (Side note: I did get the Burgundy Bar palette and it is really pigmented! Made in Italy. Very nice texture and all shimmers except 2 mattes).

Love your look and am excited because this will be so pretty for Summer. Yes, please show us some more looks! Although I love your pink/yellow creation. Very nice.

    • Isabella Muse

I got the BB bar too! I am testing it out now ;-D Glad you’re enjoying it. I’ll def do more looks ;-D I struggled with the mattes but don’t regret the purchase! It’s a fun palette ;-D I’m looking forward to hearing your thoughts!

  • Kish

So glad I ordered this after seeing your review! And I’d love to see more looks with it, I sometimes struggle for ideas. 🙂

    • Isabella Muse

ME TOO! ;-D but at leas tthere’s a get the look guide on the back with suggestions for three looks ;-D I’ll def do some more looks ;-D let me know what you think when it arrives!

  • Maria

The color s look nice in you. I am debating whether to get this. I think it looks similar to Color pop Yes please palette which has yellow in it. Too bad the matte shades are not pigmented enough compared to the shimmer shades

  • Jane

Your review is great! But I think I’ve been deluding myself about how warm this palette is, and I won’t get it. Nuts.

    But your look is gorgeous!

  • MB

I’m waiting to spend my extra bucks on this! Waiting anxiously for it to hit stores.

  • CarrieAnne

Muse, have you seen Kokie Cosmetics’ new eyeshadow artist palettes? There is one that looks extraordinarily similar to the Too Faced sweet peach offerings and UD naked heat shades. I had it in my hand at Wal-Mart and then I reluctantly put it back because I was thinking this color trend is going to head out before I even really have a chance to use it much (I loathe Too Faced, Jerrod Blandino, and would never buy anything they put out.) But did not want to dish out more cash for the ABH Modern Renaissance palette when it came out, either. Would love to hear your thoughts on the warm brights/peaches/magenta trend!

    • Isabella Muse

I have but didn’t indulge! I heard good things about them but haven’t taken the plunge yet! 🙂 If I try them I’ll be sure to review!!!!!!!!!!

  • Celine D

Great Look Muse, So pretty on you ! I will have to pick this one up.
What mascara are you wearing ? Looks Great !

  • Celine D

I can’t believe it. I bought that mascara and had no luck with it at all. I tossed it. : (
Every review I read says they like it. It just didn’t work for me and I like a lot of the L’oreal
mascaras too. Having good luck with there other new one though Voluminous X fiber Superstar. It holds a curl and makes lashes look plush. ; )

    • Isabella Muse

I liked it! Little hard to remove but all and all pretty nice for a drugstore mascara which I typically hate! ;-D I haven’t tried it yet but it is in my to be reviewed pile!!!!!! 😀

    • Dee

Celine D, I also could not get Lash Paradise to work for me! For me, the brush is way too big for my small eyes. I was afraid of poking myself in the eye with it. My holy grail mascara is, believe it or not, Maybelline Stiletto ‘Waterproof’. It is a drier formula, but it seems to work best for my lashes in keeping them curled. The wetter-formula mascaras always make my lashes nice at first, then my lashes either droop, or go straight out. lol. Not a pretty sight.

      • Dee

P.S.- I always use an eyelash curler before using/trying any mascara. So, I know it’s the wet-formulas that do not work for my lashes for some reason. It seems to make my skimpy lashes feel heavy?

  • katherine

this is very pretty. i was so excited and preordered on amazon. disappointed in quality, and unfortunately not my color scheme, boohoo. please, i would like to see more look to know which colors would combine well.

  • myuumo

Can I ask what blush you’re using? It looks so pretty on you!!

    • Isabella Muse

I’m so sorry! I haven’t a clue! I think it might be mac sweet vision!

  • Kamini Dhanjee

Thanks for the great review! I struggled to find a good blog post about this palette. It just launched in South Africa and I was so two-minded about getting it. I prefer reading blog posts over YT videos and I’m glad I stumbled upon your blog! I think I’ll be giving the palette a skip because the mattes aren’t great.

    • Isabella Muse

Hi Kamini! Thanks for reading ;-D I’m so glad you have you as a new reader! It was fun to use but the formula was a little meh sadly 🙁

  • Heather

Hi Musey ! It’s 2023 but I just bought this off of eBay . LOL ( hope it’s not used – hope I don’t die ) I saw someone using this on YouTube on an old vlog , and she wasn’t a teenager and was pulling it off nicely. So while God knows I don’t need it … why not ? I see you have it too yay . 🙂

    • Isabella Muse

good for you! I hope you love it. It’s a really fun palette! As long as it is sealed I’m sure it’ll be fine LOL! 😀 I still have mine!
