Beauty Bits & Bobs

Bobbi Brown Beauty Rules Book

I gotta tell ya, I’m a lit geek prior to being a makeup lover so when makeup and a good book are combined, I’m over the moon.

Bobbi Brown Beauty Rules Book should be popping up at your local counters and bookstores shortly. It’s Bobbi’s sixth book release and focuses on, not the mature woman, but younger women.

Bobbi shares her best tips and tricks for fresh, healthy skin, hair, makeup and nails. As always Bobbi’s main goal is the help women look like themselves with minimal makeup tips to create a more confident, prettier you!

Bobbi Brown Beauty Rules was created to help young women learn the beauty basics and proceed to enable them to get creative and experiment with their looks, in the end, ultimately finding their own sense of style.

I have Bobbi’s Makeup Manual and it’s one of the most user friendly makeup reads I’ve had the pleasure of owning. It breaks things down so simply and gives incredible tips for keeping things fresh and beautiful.

I think Beauty Rules is something every younger woman should indulge in particularly if you’re just starting out in makeup.

It’s available now from Nordstrom for $24.95.

I’m going to purchase one for my cousin who’s 15 and just now starting to get into cosmetics.

Musings of the Day: The Story of Cosmetics: Toxins in Your Cosmetics

I fear I’m not always conscious of what goes into my cosmetics. Pretty things are my downfall but I’m not always educating myself or paying attention to the ingredients that are in some of my cosmetics, skincare, and fragrance. Honestly, cosmetics aside, everyday products are potentially hazardous to our health as well. Items we depend on daily such as shampoo and deodorant. When I’m slicking deo on, I’m seriously not consciously thinking about how it might increase my risk of cancer, I’m just assuming is safe as can be.

The Story of Cosmetics is a short film by Free Range Studios, in partnership with the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics.

Lush Cosmetics Candles: Yay or Nay?

Lush is really hitting the fragrance market hard this year and I couldn’t be more delighted. I noticed that Lady Boy and Cocktail, two of B Never’s perfumes, have popped up on the Lush UK site. I’m hopeful Keep it Fluffy will make a come back as well.

Keeping in the theme of fragrance, Lush appears to be launching its first ever home fragrance in the form of…..

Harajuku Lovers School Supplies at Target: Back to School with Harajuku Lovers

Harajuku Lovers gather round.

Soon I’m positive we’ll see some new Harajuku Lovers Fragrances pop up. The originals delighted us with their cute little do’s and snazzy little outfits. The Winter versions made us say “Awwwww…” when we seen them all bundled up for the cold weather! And the Summer versions just had us in fits of excitement as they flashed us their belly buttons and painted tips and toes.

I’m hopeful this Fall, the girl’s will surprise us with some awe aspiring Fall couture!

Until that time you can get your fix by heading to Target and exploring Back to School with the Harajuku Lovers. Yup, that’s right, school and office supplies featuring all five girl’s can be found at your local Target.

Notepads, folders, small dairies, note cubes, and other fun offerings are available at Target with price ranges from $2-$12.99. Seriously, who doesn’t want to head back to school sportin’ a G or Baby binder! Damn shame I’m not still in school because I’d be all about it….

Ok, ok, I admit it, I hauled a note cube for myself. How can I honestly NOT grab at least something?! I wanted some of the folders too but I know my limits, can’t scare away clients while sporting a Harajuku Lovers notebook, it’s simply not considered professional in some circles, damn. I think the note cube set me back $6.99 or $7.99, not bad since it’s huge!

Head to Target now to snatch up some Love, Angel, Music, Baby, and G goodies. Who knows how long they’ll stick around for?
