Tony Moly Moisture Boost Cooling Algae Eye Serum ($22 for 0.5 oz) is a newish gel eye serum that contains algae and Hyaluronic Acid to hydrate and and plump the under area. I’ve been using this since April and it’s turned into one of my favorite ways to prep my eyes for eye cream and concealer. Sure, sure, the whale sold it to me. I mean really, he’s adorable isn’t he? But the formula is quite lovely as well.

Let’s take a look!

Tony Moly Moisture Boost Cooling Algae Eye Serum arrives in a cute little pot sporting a little whale topper. I guess the whale is a little nod to the cooling, watery formula. As cute as it is I dislike two things about this packaging. The first one is the bottle has a rather elongated neck which makes it a little difficult to get at the gel. I’m starting to notice that it becomes harder and harder to scoop the formula out of the jar because I’m at the last bit of it now and it’s so far down into the jar! It’s annoying. I started using the NOID Stainless Steel Spoon I have to scoop the product out! I’m also annoyed that didn’t come with it’s own spatula. I have plenty of them as I bulk them in bulk for my skincare products but Korean skincare typically includes a spatula I was sort of disappointed this didn’t have one.

Hyaluronic Acid isn’t a big star in the formula and is actually near to last on the ingredients list sadly. It does contain water, glycerin, and Propanediol for the cool, moisturizing effect it provides. This isn’t a showstopper in the ingredients world but it is an effective product to add a nice bit of hydration to eyes and also, to prep eyes for eye cream. The light, gel texture has a cool, refreshing feel that absorbs easily and does leave behind a slight dewiness under the eyes. I actually love how it feels. It provides very light moisture to the eye area so following up with an eye cream is a necessary evil if you have drier eyes. I tend to apply this first and follow up with a heavier, more hydrating eye cream. This sets the way for easy absorption of my thicker eye cream! It also adds more moisture to the overall eye area which results in nice, smooth concealer coverage.

This isn’t a life changing product it is however, a very nice addition to any eye routine that needs a bit more moisture. I thought it really went a long way at prepping my eyes and providing some extra and much needed moisture when paired up with my eye cream!

I would buy Tony Moly Moisture Boost Cooling Algae Eye Serum again when I run out!

Tony Moly Moisture Boost Cooling Algae Eye Serum is a newish eye serum gel that launched a few months ago that contains algae and Hyaluronic Acid. Sadly, the main ingredients are water, glycerin and Propanediol with very little hyaluronic acid. However, this didn’t stop it from being lightly moisturizing and making it a nice little prep for eye cream. This can be used as a light moisturizing eye gel or as a serum under eye cream. I personally use it under my eye cream! It preps my eye area nicely and adds a touch more moisture allowing my eye cream to easily absorb under my eyes. The lightweight gel texture is cooling and has a slightly dewy finish.

The packaging is adorable, but I wish it had more beneficial ingredients especially for the price. Muse, have you tried Versed The Fix Emergency Eye Mask? I’ve been using it for the past 6 months as my nightly eye cream (normally I don’t use a cream specifically for my eyes) and I’m really loving it for my dry under eyes. I think you’d really like it.

nope but say no more now I’m buying it! LOL! 😀 I hear dry eyes, emergency, and eye mask in the same sentence and I’m out the door to Target ;-D I’ll let ya know what I think! And yeah, I love this formula and it feels great and preps nicely for eye cream but I do wish the HA was higher on the list!

Definitely let me know how you like the eye mask. I don’t even wash it off because my dry eyes just drink it up like a refreshing glass of water.
