Happy Valentine’s Day! In celebration a review of Holika Holika Heart Crush Velvet Lipstick seemed like an excellent idea! You’ve heard me rave Holika Holika Heartful Moisture Lipstick and Holika Holika Heartfull Glossy Lipstick but if you’re more of a matte fan girl or guy you might find that Heart Crush Velvet Lipstick is a fit for you!

Yesterday I reviewed the new Kiko Sweetheart Lipstick and I expressed how wish it wasn’t two-toned. It’s a great formula but I’d prefer a solid lipstick shade. That’s why I’m liking Holika Holika Heart Crush Velvet Lipstick a little more.

These actually look like a toy. They arrive in a really small red plastic heart-shaped barrel that holds 0.06 oz of lipstick and will set you back around $8-$9 from a variety of online sellers. It’s a cute presentation even though it might look something you’d buy for a little girl or boy.

The tip is heart-shaped but it is a good deal smaller compared to Kiko’s version. It reminds of the tip of a slim-line lipstick! It’s pretty small but isn’t awakrard to use and fits the contour of my lips quite nicely.

The color I choose was RD01 which is a bright crimson red that reminds me of Bite Beauty’s VIB Rouge Creme Lipstick. The color is stunning and packs excellent pigment on a single pass for such a small price tag.

Holika Holika Heart Crush Velvet Lipstick Swatches (RD1)

It’s not a traditional matte but has more balmy matte feel that wears very comfortable without adhering to my dry lips. The finish is very smooth and it didn’t migrate or feather and wore for six hours straight. It had no flavor or fragrance. I don’t typically like matte lipsticks but this was a very comfortable formula for me and it looked fabulous on my lips!

It’s small but the price is right and the formula wins so Holika Holika Heart Crush Velvet Lipstick gets a Muse Approval.

Loves it!

Perfection and totally adorable. maybe I’ll put this HH formula on my next YS order. (If I ever get the current one, lol.) How is HH for names=actual American conception of the shade names? I really struck out on Peripera at HL. Last major return. Only 1/5 was remotely as described. But from YS, The 3CE red set really WAS red. I feel bitten/shy about Asian lip color description.

thank you! I know! YS sucks 🙁 I dislike ordering from them because they come at you later that items are out of stock or they are waiting for something to come in stock and that takes 7-14 days! It’s crazy! I think the names can be misleading! I always get items that say RD011 and they are pink! It’s a weird hit or miss situation with shades in my opinion!
