3 stars out of 5

Catrice Liquid Camouflage Under Eye Primer ($5.99) is a new under eye primer that preps the delicate skin under your eyes for concealer. Hey, you prep the skin above your eyes why not the one under your eyes right? Under Eye Primers are not a unique or innovative idea a few brands have taken them on in the past like E.L.F. Sheer Blurring Under Eye Primer and Becca Anti-Fatigue Under Eye Primer.

I’m always interested in trying these even though I personally think the best primer for my drier eyes is eye cream. If you want good concealer coverage that’s smooth and doesn’t crease I say hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! That works best for me.

None the less, I’m always curious enough to try new things so, I snagged a Catrice Liquid Camouflage Under Eye Primer to try out.

Catrice Liquid Camouflage Under Eye Primer is a mere $5.99 and is 0.17 oz in size. It comes in a barrel with a sponge applicator for easy application. It pretty much looks like any eye primer would.

It’s a translucent grayish white shade and applies completely transparent. It has a fairly standard eyeshadow primer texture with a little bit of slip from the Dimethicone it contains. You can probably easily get away with priming your lids and under eye area with this formula. If I had to compare it to any formula I’d say it feels most like NARS Eyeshadow Primer.

It applies fairly easily and as I said it does feel a bit slippery which does act in my favorite as that slipperiness aids drier concealers in apply a little more easier. It blends fairly well and as I said it sets completely transparent. I typically apply it, blend, and do my hair just giving it a few seconds to set before I start my makeup. I noticed a lot of reviews said it really worked on a crepey under eye area but that isn’t an issue I face. My eyes are drier with finer lines. I didn’t feel this filled those finer lines or even blurred the appearance of them even though it likely should act to do because it contains silicone. It did make concealer application a little easier and it felt like concealer blended a little better when using this.

I also, felt like it created a very solid base for concealer to grip on to which seemed to result in a little bit of a longer wear especially when I was outside in the heat! It wears well under concealer and a fine dusting of powder. I intentionally used tested it with a concealer I knew creased on me and it did prevent creasing which was fantastic!

All in all, at this price I do think Catrice Liquid Camouflage Under Eye Primer is worth trying out. It might just impressed you. I think it’s a handy little tool to have around for concealers I know crease on me!

Where to buy

Ulta

Catrice Liquid Camouflage Under Eye Primer is a transparent under eye primer that preps for concealer. This applies with a lightly slick texture that blends easily under my drier eyes. It does take a few seconds to set but once it sets you can apply concealer right on top. I didn’t feel it filled or blurred the appearance of my finer lines but it did create a smoother canvas for my concealer to adhere to and seemed to extend its wear. It also felt like it made concealer application a little easier if the concealer I was using was drier and also, seemed to prevent creasing!

Glycerin, Aqua (Water), Dimethicone, Talc, Mica, Sodium Acrylates Crosspolymer-2, Carbomer, Sodium Polyacryloyldimethyl Taurate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Hydrogenated Polydecene, Phenethyl Alcohol, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Pentylene Glycol, Amodimethicone, Disodium Edta, Caprylyl/Capryl Glucoside, Sodium Hydroxide, Phenoxyethanol.

Am trialling the PTR skin to die for undereye primer. I AM married to the FAB eyeduty triple remedy, so if they’re incompatible, pfffft. Today I layered them oppositely, and will check at day’s end. (I do them upper and lower lids, as it’s discolored all the way around.) if ptr is a no go,will def try Catrice. C and I get along pretty well. Those matte singles that Ulta d/c’d were truly TDF. To me, that shows the power of the palette, since the singles were superb, but obviously did not sell well enough.

This is a clever concept but ya why not just use a shadow primer. My under eyes get really dry-looking with some of those ultra high coverage concealers flooding the market (Tarte shape tape, the new cover girl one). I wonder if this would help make it look more natural….sounds like an adventure for tomorrow 😀
    Thanks for the review!
