5 stars out of 5

Pat Mcgrath The Golden One Eye Shadow Palette Star Wars Edition ($36) is one of three 5-pan eyeshadow palettes that launched with the recent and second Pat Mcgrath x Star Wars Collection. Somehow, someway I was able to resist purchasing every single piece of this collection but I did have a nerd-gasm when I first saw it. My nerd side demanded me to do it but my logical side said, “You don’t need it!” I stayed strong or at least I did for a little while as I did end up indulging one of the palettes that being the Golden One. Did I need it? No because obviously I have so many shades like this. Did I want it? Absolutely and guess what I so, don’t regret this one.

I love this palette. That is all. That’s the review. No but seriously, I read a few iffy reviews on it and was concerned I wouldn’t like it but I actually adored it. It creates a warm, pretty metallic shimmery look that’s very flattering on my eyes.

The palette arrives in a blue box with a cut out of 3-CPO splashed across the front. I love the outer box, it totally speaks to my nerdy good nature but my organizational side hates it. It has a little flip out cut out of 3-CPO’s arm to give it a 3D-like appearance but the only problem is, with time, that little cut out will fray, possibly rip, or even come off. I can’t tuck it in without ruining the box and it’s a little harder to store it standing up because of that little arm flap. So, yeah, very cute packaging just a little hard when it comes to storage and keeping it in good shape.

The palette itself has a dark blue metallic back with the same 3-CPO image splashed on the front minus his little arm flap. Inside you’ll find a mirror and five 0.014 oz eyeshadows in the following shades:
Binary Sunset (sparkling peachy-pink metallic) (repromote)
Tatooine (soft auburn-brown matte)
Gold Etiquette (sparkling burnished-gold metallic) (repromote)
Coral Blitz (rose-coral satin matte) (repromote)
Cyborg Relations (gleaming bronzed-copper metallic)

Pat Mcgrath The Golden One Eyeshadow Palette Star Wars Edition Swatches (Binary Sunset, Tatoonie, Cyborg Relations, Coral Blitz, Gold Etiquette)

As you can see three of the five shades are repromoted which would make this a frivolous little purchase if you already own those shades! And I hate to say this but also, you can get these single shades VERY cheap as they are part of the now clearanced EYEDOLS Single Eyeshadow Collection. These are $12.50 each and 0.04 oz each which makes them bigger and a better bang for you buck. I love this palette! I like having these shades all together to create a single use but it would not be honest if I failed to mention the fact they are available in a larger size for less.

The palette contains two soft silk mattes and three soft, creamy metallics. The consistency and texture of the shadows is divine across the board. The metallic have gorgeous shimmer to them with a creamy texture that glides onto eyes like melted butter. I would say these are best applied with your finger as you’ll get a bit of chunky fall out using a brush. The mattes are soft, lightly creamy and glide onto my eyes just as perfectly as the metallics. These are just the dreamiest of formulas. I’ve used them in the past as I own many of the EYEDOLS Singles but for some reason these felt even softer in texture. It’s just a very lovely formula. I had no creasing nor fading issues with these and they blended perfectly. I love how I can easily apply them with my fingers should I like.

Pat Mcgrath The Golden One Eyeshadow Palette Star Wars Edition probably isn’t something you absolutely have to get but it sure is a lovely palette if you don’t already own these shades. I’m happy I purchased it. It’ll make a great Summer (and Fall) eyeshadow palette and these shades just jive and work so well together. I’m happy with the purchase!

Let me know if you picked this one up!

Where to buy

Sephora Pat Mcgrath

Pat Mcgrath The Golden One Eyeshadow Palette Star Wars Edition is a limited edition palette that’s $36 which contains five eyeshadows three of which are metallic and the other two are matte. Each shadow is 0.014 oz each. The palette does contain three repromoted shades which are available on sale as individual shades in bigger pots for $12.50 each! These shadows all had a delightful creamy texture that was soft, easy to apply, and blended like a dream. I found the metallics were best applied with a finger as applying with a brush did cause fall out. I had no issues with creasing nor fading and the shades were all incredibly pigmented.

Pros

  • Beautifully textured eyeshadows.
  • Easy to apply, blend, and create looks with as the colors all go so well together.

Cons
