L’Oreal Unlimited Mascara is a new lash lifting and lengthening formula with a bendable wand that’s inspired by a makeup artist’s technique of bending a mascara wand for more control and lifting up lashes at the root. This mascara is available in both a regular and waterproof version.
I feel like gimmicky mascaras haven’t had a lot of spotlight lately. Remember how many were out and about a few years ago? Almay One Coat Dial Up Mascara, Rimmel 1-2-3 Looks Mascara, Avon Mega Effects Mascara, and on and on…! There were so many a few years ago. Each one with some interesting wand that allowed you to customize how you applied your mascara but in reality just created a big old mess.
I admit I was both excited about the new L’Oreal Unlimited Length & Lift Mascara and a little skeptical since I’ve tried plenty of mascara, all promising me a ton of different perks courtesy their “special” applicator but most failing to actually create results that made me ohhhh and ahhh.
Considering L’Oreal is Lancome’s parent brand most people will be wondering if Unlimited Length & Lift is similiar to Mascara Grandiose Wide-Angle Fan Effect Mascara. In my humble opinion, L’Oreal did a better job with Unlimited!
Let’s check out my review below!
L’Oreal Unlimited Length & Lift Mascara arrives in a chunky barrel that has a flexible wander which can be used straight to lengthen lashes and bent to lift lashes from the root to the top. You can use the wand in either of these two ways or you can use it both ways to create a more fuller lash look. I personally think it works best when you first use the wand straight and proceeded to follow up with a lifting motion using it bent!
The applicator isn’t anything special and is a pretty ordinary tapered head with tiny spikes that grasp lashes. For me, the technique of using the bent wand in combination with the lightweight texture of the mascara formula seems to be where I’m seeing the great results this delivers. I tried the non-waterproof mascara since that was the only option available to me at the Walgreens I purchased this at and I experienced no issues with it flaking or smudging. It was very easy to remove at the end of the night as well.
For application, I started out with the wand straight and gently stroked it through my lashes. It created some nice length and the formula was very lightweight on my lashes without being heavy or wet. After that initial application I proceeded to bend the wand and work it under my lash line to lift my lashes up and out. At this point I felt like the mascara excelled. At first I was concerned that I’d create a mess by layering too much but it seems to layer very well without clumping up or creating a gooey mess. Again, I blame the formula for this which is very light! As I worked it under my lash line and up I felt like my lashes started looking quite longer but not necessarily fuller. I think if you’re looking for a lot of volume this isn’t quite the formula to give it to you but if you’re wanting length this does an excellent job of creating very long lashes. There isn’t a lot of curl here either but it does capture all my lashes and pulls them upwards and out to give my lashes a longer look.
L’Oreal Unlimited Length & Lift Mascara definitely left the gimmick behind with this. It gives great length and the wand really does help that along! All in all a great mascara to check out at the drugstore.

Where to buy
L’Oreal Unlimited Length & Lift Mascara is a new mascara that launching for Spring 2019 at drugstores in a regular and waterproof formula. The bendable wand allows you to easily lift lashes at the root which allows for great length. I tried the waterproof version and didn’t experience any issues with smudging or flaking. I loved how easily I can apply layer after layer of this formula with any clumping issues. The formula was very lightweight and easy on my lashes. I was a little skeptical about the bendable wand/applicator but it actually does a good job getting under lashes and lifting them upwards to add more length. It did fail a little in the volume department but if it’s length you are after this delivers.
- Lightweight formula that’s easy on lashes.
- Removes easily.
- Adds very nice length.
- Wand/applicator isn’t a gimmick but actually does work great at lifting lashes upwards.
- Lengthens well but not great on volume!
Anyone who has shorter lashes and needs length this will deliver!
