Skin Food Salmon Dark Circle Powder Review

I reviewed Skin Food Salmon Dark Circle Concealer Cream a few weeks ago and today I’ll be bringing you the good word on Skin Food Salmon Dark Circle Powder.

Have a peep after the jump!

First off contrary to the name, Salmon, it does not smell fishy hehe. I had a few questions asking if it had a funky smell and no it doesn’t.

Secondly, Skin Food is an organic range of cosmetics and skincare that’s sold through out Asia but is originally from Korea. The concealer and powder retail for around $6-$7 in Korea which is what I paid for it as a friend was kind enough to snag me the products (Thanks Bora). I have seen both the concealer and powder on E-bay for around $12-$15 (includes shipping). Honestly, I think both are worth that price as they are quality items. I just wanted to give you an option where you might purchase should you want the powder after my review.

So what is the powder?

It’s a simple pale yellow sheer powder that you can use to brighten your eye area or to set your concealer and most important, it’s awesome.

I can’t sing my praises enough for this stuff. The color manages to make my eyes look brighter, masks my puffiness, and creates a smooth, flawless finish.

The formula is very light, very sheer, and very subtle so it pretty much feels and looks like you’re not wearing anything at all. Even my terribly dry eyes take quite well to smoothing a bit of this under my eyes. It doesn’t age me nor does it settle into fine lines. It does however make my eyes look brighter and erases any signs of age or tiredness. It also manages to set my concealer for long wear.

I blame the very pale yellow formula for it’s ability to mask dark circles as it creates the illusion of a fresher look under my eyes. Paired up with concealer you should be able to see visible results. The beauty of the product is it’s ability to also mask my puffiness when all else fails.

It comes with a tiny puff to pat the powder on but I prefer using the fluffy side of my Bobbi Brown dual sided concealer brush to apply. Any brush such as a blending one works best as it picks up a little powder and buffs it on very gently. The puff is cute but somewhat useless.

Overall, I’m absolutely in love with this stuff. It does exactly what it promises and does so on the cheap which is always a welcome relief. I love how it brightens and makes me look fresh, awake, and flawless.

Good stuff and a big Muse Approval for purchase.

Likey very much!

Anyone try?

I know I have a fair few Korean readers so someone must have scored this by now, do share 🙂

    • the Muse

    Hi!
I’m so curious of the skin food brand but a bit worried about purchasing on ebay. Sceptical me ….*sigh*.
And I most definetly need a concealer!
I’m actually using a pink/nude colored eyeliner to covered the darkest parts.
Haven’t really found any yet, they are either too yellow or pink on me.
    Any favourite you’d recommend?

    • the Muse

hi carolina! aw I understand. I tend to like to shop ebay makeup always had good success with it 😀

my fav is bobbi brown concealer palette, benefit boi-ing, clarins concealer stick, and the mally concealer system at the moment these are all great!

The packaging on this is adorable!! I wish Skin Food products were easier to find in the US. I have the Aloe BB Cream and I love it. Have you tried the Skin Food Pomegranate Whitening Sleeping Mask, Muse? I’m not sure if you have a review on it but it’s something I’ve been wanting to try as well!

    • the Muse

agreed nancy! Since I started blogging Korean makeup much of it has somehow ended up in the US which is a good thing, let’s hope for more 😀

I like the ALoe BB myself. Yes I have and enjoy it as well…I’ll have to get a review live for you! 😀

  • hiromix

wow, this sounds awesome! and as always the price is right 🙂 but i think i’m too lazy to use the powder on top of my concealer even though it keeps it from smudging & sets it… hmmm well i might cave in and get it… haha we’ll see~ ^^

    • the Muse

lol hiromix I have a prob following through in my makeup regime but for me it comes essential with concealer and such as I’ll look quite scary without 😀

  • Jacqui Ambrose

Saw this stuff in a Malaysian Skin Food store and it only carries colors for fair skin. So being of Indian descent…..again, I was disappointed that we are an oft forgotten group!

    • the Muse

awww sorry jacqui 🙁 It’s one color fits all type of deal but honestly it doesn’t does it?! 🙁

  • Tohnia

    hello,
I have light beige skin color, more on the whiter side, and my question is, if I team this powder with the salmon concealer (maybe #1, which ever is the lighter color) do you think that it will look natural on me?
i read your review on the salmon concealer and i noticed it is peachy and i think it would look obvious on my skin, so it cind of scared me a bit, but then when i saw the powder it it very nice light color, so which one shows best? the powder or the concealer, I need it to look natural (I am a student 😉 ) please help me!
    thank you 🙂
