Jump ahead for it!
The Victoria’s Secret Exotic Jewels Collection is a new limited edition makeup collection brought together by Heidi Klum. The collection is inspired by Heidi’s life changing trip to India and features Indian-themed beauty pieces. If you recall last year around the same time Heidi had another very pretty collection that was offered. I didn’t haul any of it at the time but I will say it went on sale during the semi-annual, point in case being if you aren’t interested in hauling this now perhaps you can get it later on sale (especially if the Holidays go belly up due to the economy).
I like the looks of this collection more than it’s predecessor. Could be the packaging, could be the colors, or the design, not sure what it is but I’m really loving the looks of this particular collection when compared to last year’s. Exotic Jewels happens to be a little larger than last year’s as well but not so much you are overwhelmed. It consists of two main “star” pieces and four follow up items for a complete face look. Below you’ll find the details on each item releasing.
- Victoria’s Secret Exotic Jewels Eye Shadow Palette in Hidden Palace ($24)
A star piece of the collection for me this features five shades of shadow in an elegant Indian-themed compact.
- Victoria’s Secret Exotic Jewels Luminous Face Powder Gems in Moonstones ($22)
Another key piece in the collection these are basically a dupe of Guerlain Meteorites but are made up of a more pigmented formula for highlighting or using as a blush.
- Victoria’s Secret Exotic Jewels Glitter Liner in Majesty ($12)
Shimmering purple liner for a twinkle of color to line eyes with.
Victoria’s Secret Exotic Jewels Extra-Lengthening Mascara ($13)
Purple tinged mascara for creating an exotically colored lashes.
- Victoria’s Secret Exotic Jewels Perfect Lipstick in Exotic Spice ($16)
A nude beige shade of moisturizing lipstick.
- Victoria’s Secret Exotic Jewels Lip Gloss in Passion Fruit ($14)
Super light glossy beige shade for topping creating a lovely nude pout.
Although the smaller eye items and lip pieces fail to excite me I will say I was overjoyed at the eye palette which sadly was out of stock at my Victoria’s Secret. I did manage to secure the face powder which I’ll be reviewing for you in this post. Below you can see a shot I took of the display sans the eye palette. Count me curious on the eye palette as it looks lovely even though I’m not such a great fan of purple which seems to be the dominate color.
Now for my review of the powder…..
I’m a sucker for lovely packaging and the packaging on the Victoria’s Secret Exotic Jewels Lumnious Face Powder Gems is gorgeous. It’s a pink sturdy cardboard box much like you’d see Guerlain Meteorites housed in with embellishments of gold and purple.
The “gems” or small balls of powder are a mix of marbleized plum, pale pink, dark pink, and gold shades. The quality isn’t quite as lovely as Guerlain’s version but they are quite similar in packaging, style, and design. The balls can work as a blush if you want but for the most part they do remain very subtle and sheer for a highlight on face and cheeks. The finish isn’t shimmery or frosty but more of a very light twinkle of color even when applied with a heavy hand.
Overall, the beautiful packaging really took me in and made them worthy of a pick up. I’m looking forward to getting the palette as well shortly. If you like Guerlain Meteorites these should appeal.
The Victoria’s Secret Exotic Jewels Collection is a delightful little offering. Check it out at your local VS as it’s not yet available online.
Loves it!
